is it wrong to love war?
No way man, countries like America thrive off war, it makes jobs, and it puts oil in our cars. It even pulled us out of a depression once, also, you get to come on /k/ and tell people your war stories
You are a child.
Have you ever been to a war?
>>33596258
>>33596260
>dirty hippies
Have you ever deployed?
>>33596332
>implying being deployed is worse than a peace time civilian job
War is fucking awful
Contact is exhilarating and an amazing experience but war itself is shit and boring
>>33596380
Yes it is. Get a good job.
Not at all OP. I loved it, had to leave military because of knee and back problems. Maybe it's not war, maybe it's the adrenaline rushes.
>>33596390

Pretty sneaky, cancer.
I can't wait for the next 12 or so major resource wars in my lifetime, I wonder how many countries will be left when I die.

Walt until that picture is your city street and then ask that question.
>>33596380
Oh sweetheart, did the boss get cranky at you for being 5 min late?
>>33596220
It doesn't make jobs you fucking idiot.
Every dollar used to create a job in the military is taxed off the civilian economy. If putting money into the military creates a job then taking it out of the economy destroys a job. Best you can do is break even in jobs.
Not saying the military is 'bad'; stops us and allies getting invaded, keeps shipping lanes open etc. But don't pretend it's "free" to run a military.
>>33596108
If by war you mean shooting up uneducated sandpeople with no real chance of doing significant damage to your unit then yeah, its cool
>>33596642
People tend to forget how expensive war is. I mean, ignored the fancy planes and tanks, just sending somebody to the ass end of the world and feed them is costly. Never mind the fact that we send million man armies to some of the most inhospitable places on earth.
>>33596108
If you havent been in one, yes.
If you lived through that either as a civi or a soldier, no.
>>33596108

This, op. You can only love war if you are winning.

It's not technically a crime to be an edgy 13 year old, but you're not allowed to post here while doing so I'm afraid.

you should read this
>>33596108
it's human nature.
>>33596108
not a bit, but i do see how wars can be used to purge the dumb animals from society
>>33596386
Pretty mich this. Its 99% sitting on your ass and doing mediocre tasks and lots of exercise all for 1 day of adrenaline rush that most commonly doesnt even last a hour.
The OP in this thread probably likes the idea of war and what he sees on tv but when the bullets start to fly and hes being shot at, he will probably freezes up.
>>33596108
Of course you love it, you've never been in one.
>>33596108
Careful with that edge m8.
>>33596108
no in a theoretical fashion it's normal it always fascinated people. if you actually love the act of war and not bored out of your mind and utterly miserable and uncomfortable then something is wrong with you.
>>33597536
Not Op.
That was a good read anon. Thanks for the link
GENTLEMEN I LIKE WAR
GENTLEMEN I LOVE WAR
>>33596108
Yeah. Love the comrodery. The weapons. The bullshit. But not the violence.
War is the way of Man.
Man is the means of War.
You allow us War.
Our worship is our readiness.
>>33596108
As long as your love doesn't transfer to killing civilians back home it's fine
Are you American?
If so, its just your Frontier Spirit looking for a fight, I think any American worth his salt has that fire in his belly to Manifest some fuckin' Destiny
>>33596108
No, but you're certainly no long a "normal" member of society if you do. You may, in fact, have some kind of Not Otherwise Specified if you love war.
If you're some kind of civilian who's never joined the military let alone deployed to a combat zone, you're definitely an autistic fuckwit who needs serious counseling and/or social care intervention.
>>33598617
That's the first thing I thought of as well.
>>33596108
"Anything that gets your blood racing is probably worth doing" -Hunter S. Thompson
It depends OP, most men like the thrill of having their life on the line, be it fighting, racing, or crime, It gives you a rush to know took a risk and came out the victor. Now if you like the feeling of being a soldier in war that's fine, if you like watching borders shift over time and reading stories that's fine.
But you need to remember 2 important things, regardless of what you believe about them, your opposing army is human, every casualty is a mother's child. And in war, not everyone is a soldier, people are displaced, lives are ruined, and families are separated. War should not be a casual affair.
>>33596108
Yes, it's wrong to love war.
calm down John Mccain
>>33596108
Yes because it's expensive and there is collateral damage.
what did he mean by this, /k/?
>>33600029
obviously that means he's ready to fire, whatever that barrel is facing he has determined is worth destroying
>>33596642
>It doesn't make jobs you fucking idiot.
Totally forgetting the fact that you need factories to make guns. Guns are in demand in war. ????. Profit. Just one example.
>>33596108
>is it wrong to love war?
Let me guess, you've never actually been in one
>>33596108
It's good to love your comrades in arms, the strength of your nation, and peace. You should hate war but not shy from it.
>>33596108
>>33596642
More precisely, war destroys capital, destroys labor, and diverts precious resources to do so. The only sense that it improves the economy is that in the end you are relatively better off than your enemy, and the (((people))) that plays both sides even better still.
yeah but that doesnt make me stop loving it

>>33596260
There are those who are made for war. Quit the "everyone hates war" meme.
People can be made to be a teacher, a fireman, why cant people be born for war? Its a small amount, but some people in SF enjoy it purely
>>33597536
Beautiful, thank ypu, Anon.
When I was a kid I usually drew battles and kind of though "I really wanna fight and go to war". One day my grandpa, God rest his soul, told me very seriously that war was not funny or a game. Later I was told that a bomb fell on his house and his sister died in the arms of his mother. I hope I answered your question.

That's like normal life though. No I have not been deployed. Actually went to recruiters office today, but as a civie I can attest to doing basically nothing all day.
>Get "great" office job
>Go in at 8 AM
>10 hours of calling people harassing them, crunching numbers, doing "research" which basically just means google shit
>Leave work, go to gym.
>On weekends meet up with buddies and get wrecked because life is boring and dull so gotta weekend warrior it up with booze and rejection from bitches
>rinse and repeat
Nah man. Fuck that. I'm sure military life will be boring and dull as shit, but I definitely think I'll have a better time than the years wasted in offices. Besides it's an individuals own fault for not knowing how to keep occupied. Just read a fucking book. Jesus.
I hope my deployment is somewhere quiet so I can just crank through all the books I've failed to finish over the years.
>>33604309
I thought it was boring, too. But looking back, I miss the random explosipns in the middle of the night, the fucking dust that got into everywhere. The freezing nights huddled inside my sleeping bag. The smell, that odd chemical smell of spent brass and shellfire. The faint shrieking sound of shells flying overhead. The odd zipping of rounds flying past you. The sweat. The hours spent digging holes and filling sandbags. I miss it all.
God I need to go back. But there isn't a back anymore, at least not for me.
>>33596108
nuclear war, yes.
conventional war, that's gucci.
medieval warfare, enlightened.
warring against north African mercenaries, Roma invicta.
nah man, war makes America go round. Just don't end up like the roman empire and overspend the budget while distracting everyone with sports stadiums sponsored by the navy and shit. Oh shit, to late....
This kills the America
Sometimes I wish I could die pointlessly in a pointless war instead of living my boring, shitty life with a job I hate, no close friends, and a bunch of school debt.
>>33596108
yep, go kill a man with you bare hands and let's see how you feel afterwards

In fact, here's one.
>Adrian de Wiart
>He served in the Boer War, First World War, and Second World War; was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; survived two plane crashes; tunneled out of a prisoner-of-war camp; and tore off his own fingers when a doctor refused to amputate them. Describing his experiences in the First World War, he wrote, "Frankly I had enjoyed the war."

sure in the blood of man, there is a love for advanture, fighting for the meaning of being a man, fighting to protect the wife and children.
And back then, in roman or greece society, ppl praise war fighters.
But DESU, not anymore, not in modern society.

I'm really good at war. I love war in a certain way. Listen, if you want to know about war, just ask me. I know a lot about war. In fact, I know more about ISIS than the generals do. Believe me!
>>33596642
You idiot, you've never heard of WWII, have you? Shut the fuck up if you don't know what you're talking about.

I dunno... i feel i have to say both yes and no, it is a bad thing that war has erupted, as it often (if not always) hurts innocent civilians, destroys vital infrastructure (hospitals, schools, clean water and water supply in general, fire and police departments and so on) and generally loss of life ( also remember, conscripts are not always volunteers)
however, war must sometimes be waged to put a hasty/definitive end to a diplomatically difficult/locked situation or to end certain situations that require immediate action or where there's not even time to start a diplomatic process (genocide/civil war/war of aggression without warning/refusal to dialogue) and it is good to see that people/factions that do wrong get what they deserve.
i guessing from your question that you love war, what do you love about it? the noise? the videos of soldiers running into battle with a warcry? the tank formations rolling over the fields? the tactics? the intensity? the strategies being planned out then brought into action? or do you like watching the aftermath? dead soldiers? dead civilians? wounded men being treated, bandages covering their torso/head/leg/arms, drenched in blood? blown out tanks with charred corpses outside it? do you love war in general or is it a specific theatre/era you like?
>>33600503
I cried.
>>33612944
>in addition.
i'm guessing you are american (i'm not, and i have only been a conscript, not been in a conflict)
have you been in a war? then i guess it was one of these: iraq war (2003-2011. US casualities: 4 498 dead, 32 249 wounded.) War in afghanistan (2001-2014. US casualities: 2 356 dead, 19 950 wounded)
i don't know how secure your HQ was but i'm guessing it was more secure than fort douaumont (pictured in my previous post) when the battle of Verdun began (a battle which at the start, the french had 30 000 soldiers at their disposal and the germans attacked with 130 000 soldiers) the battle started with an artillery barrage which lasted 10 hours and included 808 artillery guns (they fired approx. 1 000 000 (1 Million) shells on an area 30km long and 5km wide) this battle would be the first time the germans used flamethrowers. the battle lasted for 303 days with an estimated total of 714 231 casualities (both sides put together) this would average approx. 70 000 casualities per month.
(all numbers from wikipedia)
