Post some dank 1911s
>>33589736
Kimber Pro Carry II got it on Buds factory New for 700, only came with 1 mag.
Also fuck laser sights no way I need a laser on a pistol. If I ever have to use it it will be Jamal and his boys 10 yards away from me max.
>>33591025
The tri-color scheme is throwing me off. Nice gun tho. How does it handle?
Does /k/ have an opinion on Detonics guns? As far as I know they were the first compact 1911s, but are they outdated junk or gud guns?
This is my least favorite 1911 of mine. I have four others, but my camera is fucked so I don't take pics anymore. The Dan Wesson stainless Valor is my current fav.
>>33591378
What grips? Altamont?
>>33591655
Badger Custom. It's in the filename. Those are cocobolo, though. They're a protected type of tree now, and they don't make them anymore. They still do other wood types, though.
>>33589736
What condition do you all carry your1911 in?
Condition 1, 2 or 3 ?
Condition 1 seems best for me.
>>33591893
Cocked and locked. Condition one at all times.
I have 17 handguns and the only one I don't keep with a round in the chamber is my S&W Gen1 M&P9 with a flat Apex trigger. It has no manual safety and the trigger is like 2lbs.
>>33591893
I really don't get why anyone wouldn't go condition 1
>Condition 3
I guess if you really train to jew draw?
>Condition 2
This seems impractical at best and a liability at worst with a skeleton/commander hammer and even the spur is really awkward and heavy.
>>33591285
Good guns. Oddballs in this day and age, but I know a former employee of Detonics. It would be one thing if the company was solvent and he talked them up. Considering it no longer exists and he still buys them on gunbroker and speaks well of them, I trust him saying they are good guns.
Doesn't necessarily have to be a carry piece or heirloom. But for $800ish bucks they are good, unique 1911s.
Also those cut slides aren't to facilitate an easy hammer sweep. It's because it "looked cool".
>>33591285
It's a collector item. It's not junk, it's just from an era where condition 2 was the preferred carry method. If you want to carry that way it's perfect. If you are going to carry con1, it's inferior to a normal officer 1911.
I would buy one in a heartbeat and carry it, just to be awesome.
>>33592013
Really bugs me that for all that money they only polish the flats of the slide and cheap out on the rounds like Colt does.
>>33592066
Top of the slide is left blasted instead of polished to reduce glare. Bottom rounds are just to match.
I've got a gen 3 glocks 32 with 2 mags, plus a lonewolf conversion bbl to make it 9mm and 1 9mm mag. Green cerakoted slide plus night sights.
I want to trade for a 1911. Would it be reasonable to ask for RIA plus cash, or just the gun?
>>33592213
Depends on which RIA probs
>>33591378
>This is my least favorite 1911 of mine
>80 series
I can understand why.
>>33592318
I actually deleted the Series 80 shit and shimmed everything up internally. I don't like it because the beavertail is just short enough that it bites me when I blappin' paper.
>>33591893
Condition fabric
Is there a reason not to conceal carry a 1911 if I seem to shoot better with them than lighter polymer handguns like my PPQ and glocks?
Springfield RO
>>33593704
I have an RO Operator as well. I love it, but already think maybe i should have just gone all-out and gotten the TRP instead.
>>33593671
Not really, no.
Shot placement is infinitely more important than capacity.
>>33593671
We're at a point where with the right loading so long as your gun is reliable it doesn't matter what you carry so long as it's at least 9mm
>>33589736
Is that... legal?
It's amazing to shoot
>>33593671
Eh, they get heavy and uncomfortable after a while. I carried my 1911 for about a year before I started carrying my Makarov.
I doubt I will ever go back to the 1911.
I didn't have any trouble concealing it, but I constantly had to make sure my shirt was pulled down when I stood up and i had to wear a thick gun belt which chafed on my hips.
>>33594041
Is that a SIG Sauer?
I almost bought the exact dame model if it's the one I'm thinking of, a real sexy gun (even if the external extractors on SIGs and S&W bother me to look at)
>>33591134
Very well. Like not much recoil the aluminum frame and steel slide must absorb the recoil.
>>33594139
Yes, reverse traditional two tone?
I changed a lot of stuff; added VZ grips, black trigger, extended magwell (visible in this pic)
Wound up going to pretty much straight stock except I kept the black trigger. The gun was just perfect from the factory. IMO the stock trigger looked better but this one is really nice.
Obviously threaded barrel is here to stay as well.
Only malfunctions in 2500 or so rounds is 1-2 FTFs from ammo that was manufactured incorrectly and had a disclaimer saying it didnt function well in 1911s. Fired 350 rounds of that with 1-2 problems. I had repeated FTEs the first time I shot suppressed. Gun probably was too oiled and it was about 40 degrees out. After about 75 rounds it started gumming up and not going fully into battery. Not blaming the gun for that either. 2nd time I shot it suppressed I ran the gun dry and it was a warm day. Didn't have any issues in 150 rounds.
Normal operations with good ammo, the thing is 100% reliable.
>>33594356
Yeah that was the model. I looked at that and the XO, but ultimately got a Springfield RO Operator. At maybe ~3000 rounds so far, it's excellent. Picked up a pair of VZ grips I found for cheap but haven't gotten around to putting them on. I'm tempted to change the rear sight and get an ambi safety, and eventually I know I'm going to want to get it refinished because I'm not a huge fan of parkerizing. Love it though.
>>33596196
When you ordered your monolith, did you just call them up and ask them not to engrave the slide? Did they charge you more/less?
>>33596268
No price difference for naked slide.
>>33596268
I ordered thru CJ at 1911heaven. Told him what I wanted and he placed the order. You can't order directly from Baer.
My new baby. Already have proper USGI grips on the way.
>>33593443
What did he mean by this?
>>33596196
MUH
>>33596299
Does Les Baer do 10mm stuff? Do they offer aftermarket barrels or other parts in case I wanna shoot .45 super or .460?
>>33597569
Les does offer 10mm guns, but he will only build with his in house parts.
They specifically tell you they won't service a gun that someone else has worked on. Other than that, they will generally cover about anything that breaks/wears out.
Is the difference in a "standard" Les Baer Monolith and a "Heavyweight" Monolith the barrel? Heavyweight just means bull barrel instead of a bushing, right?
>>33598560
Standard barrels and bushings on both.
Mono heavy has the extended dust cover square all the way to the muzzle end. Regular mono, the dust cover is extended but milled on both lower corners so it's kind of rounded off.
This is a heavy :
>>33598595
So, for $50 more (MSRP) it's just an un-milled dust cover? Granted, that looks gorgeous, but is it really worth it, or are there other differences?
> Heavily considering a Monolith next. i'll own one sooner or later but budget says *either* a Monolith (because sexy and I've always wanted one) or a Springfield to be a "do it all 45".
>>33597109
I think he meant either mexican carry or those shitty urban carry holsters
>>33598674
It shoots a bit softer than a standard 1911. Can't compare to a standard mono, never shot one.
I'll admit, I bought it cause it looks good to me. At the price point these guns go for, 50 bucks isn't a deal breaker.
>>33598251
>They specifically tell you they won't service a gun that someone else has worked on.
Not sure how strong they hold to that. They worked on mine and it's got an Ed Brown safety.
>>33598595
Patrician taste my dude.
>>33593850
What do you mean?
>>33598945
Good to know. I had to change the sights on my utc. I don't like the factory night sights, no outline around the front vial and it causes the sight to wash out bad in daylight
45 80s series colt, stock except for the spring plug
>>33596317
Nice choice, I have the same gun
>>33592341
>>33592318
Does getting rid of that firing pin safety nonsense make a difference? I notice it's the first squishy bit of the trigger before it breaks
>>33599798
No. The amount of pressure needed to lift the firing pin block is insignificant.
You're probably just feeling creep. I have series 80 guns that have had the hammer and sear worked over and they have better triggers than series 70 guns.
It's all in the sear/hammer hook fitment.
>>33591893
Pretty cute
>>33592213
>dressed as varangians
>attack Constantinople
I can't be the only aspie this bothers
Bought a blued colt series 70 a few months ago. Too pretty to shoot though. Buying a parkerized springfield mil spec from buds today so I can carry a 1911 pistol and not feel guilty for ruining such a gorgeous finish.
Its true. 1911s are an addiction. Halp
>>33600581
I know that feel. i got myself a sr1911 because i wanted to see if the straight pull trigger was really all that. wasnt expecting to love the thumb safety so much too. Got a IWB holster inbound and now im ogling the 9mm LW version, love the idea of more capacity and cheaper practice, but hate those slide serrations... not to mention an aluminum lower concerns me a little.
How does /k/ feel about this? It's Wilson's new thing. 15 round double stack 9mm.
>>33602145
Here's another pic. I like it a lot, except for the crash hatching serration motif and the $2,900 price tag.
>>33591893
Condition 4
swag
>>33589736
Not as fancy as some of the ones in this thread but it's mine.
>>33598678
but that has nothing to do with the original question.
>>33599766
Nice wheelgun, what is it?
>>33602830
That's all that matters anon.
no one has posted my Costanza 1911 yet?
Mine arrives Wednesday
Also have a Custom CDP II that was gifted to me for graduation but it's pretty mediocre and it doesn't get shot much
here she is wearing Desert Rodent camo
here she is all naked and stuff
>>33602184
Pretty much what JMB should've made instead of working on the Hipower. Currently my ideal carry gun would be a doublestack 9mm commander length 1911 with just enough grip space for my full hand and hopefully 15rnds. Bobtailing welcome of course.
>>33589736
There's a desert warrior for sale at a small time pawnshop here in BFE Louisiana. They want $1,000 for it but it's beat to fuck and back.

What is the most reliable off the shelf 1911 with a rail money can buy?
I have to say I watched the video TFB did on the TRP and while it was pretty shit in a lot of ways
>hurr the best feature is it's gray!
I was impressed by it working after being thrown into a creek.
Here's my Springfield before I cleaned it up. This was about 800 rounds worth of dirt. I'm confident it could've kept going but I cleaned it up anyway.
Being as I'm too much of a cheap bastard to send it off for front strap checkering, I will use these Pachmayr grips until they fall apart.
>>33593850
>property of USMC
>has a dick drawn on it
It checks out.
