Where do I find an AR15 A2 style upper receiver under $200, I'm trying to do an M16 build but i dont want to spend $500-$600 dollars on a full upper
>>
>>33581836

If you want absolute budget, look for Del-ton or DPMS A2 upper receivers. If you want quality, Rock River Arms.

Mind you these are just like your picture. The receiver with the sights, forward assist, and ejection port dust cover installed already, nothing else. No barrel, no BCG, no charging handle, etc.

this is where I bought mine, but there was a sale going on so I got the parts kit and stripped upper for $160 or so
>>
You made $7000 Dalton, quit being poor
Oh wait you're a liar, that's right
>>
>>33581931
Yeah i'll probably buy that, I usually buy my AR parts on palmetto state armory but they dont sell the A2 style unless you want to buy the expensive full upper or the full rifle
>>
>>33581943
make sure you look through the upper parts kit. I was missing a spring for one of the detents in the sight assembly. I searched for hours and I still don't know if I lost it or it just wasn't included. Basically, be really careful when opening the UPK, because there's a bunch of tiny little parts.

I ended up ordering a new spring from Del-Ton. I thought I was getting all three, but nope, $0.75 PER tiny detent spring and like $2 shipping.
>>
>>33581999
Yeah I'll be careful, hopefully when I get it everything will be there

We had a twin pair of untouched civilian 715's from 1983 come through the shop on consignment. They were still in the plastic and had obviously never been fucked with, everything was verified by our appraiser who I'll actually see tomorrow in church. If I can find anything beyond my anecdote I'll post it, there's documentation somewhere.

I was in those arfcom threads too

I got this one:
https://www.redbubble.com/people/misterspotswood/works/20950451-upotte-school-crest?p=sticker&size=small&size=medium

In medium. However, for some reason I expected it to be pretty heavy duty, and it isn't. It has a matte finish and doesn't feel like a particularly strong sticker so I went ahead and taped over it with some packing tape because why not. If it comes off or something I won't be that sad.

Here's a stencil as well. I think if this sticker comes off I'll use this and some spray paint.

C7's are just as heavy as A2's unfortunately, but they sure are simple. The M16A1 and friends are really your lightweight tier, or a 605 build if you want to get silly light.

at the end of the day, no one is making new C7 or A1 uppers anymore so if you want to buy one you'd better be prepared to spend a lot and/or do a lot of searching FA has A2 uppers in stock right now, for $100.
>>
>>33583548
i guess they just feel light to me because im using to having a scope or optic and the one piece upper is so bulletproof i fucking love it
>>
>>33583570

>>33583564

>>33583570
DPMS makes production rifles with C7 uppers, it'd be feasible to buy one and stripe the upper.

>>33583581

>>
>>33583628
>DPMS makes production rifles with C7 uppers
And Troy makes an XM177E2 clone, but they're not selling just the uppers, and most people don't want to buy an entire rifle just for one part.
>>
>>33583639

>>33583654
A1 uppers are infinitely easier to find and get than a C7

Have you considered holding it in place with one of those stock pouches? It obviously wouldn't do as good of a job but it'd look a lot less shit. And a hell of a lot more tactical.
>>
>>33584049
Holding the sticker in place with a pouch? Nah, I don't have one of those pouches to try it with. If I get another sticker I'd get the small and probably put the tape on again (but a little more carefully).

The main problem with the sticker is that it's paper. I guess I thought it'd be vinyl (which is why i thought it'd be more glossy and not matte), but since it's just paper or something if it gets wet it's going to rip. The sticker backing doesn't feel particularly strong either. It'd work just fine on a laptop or hard plastic case, but on a gun that night get wet or have solvent spilled on it, I don't think it'll last.

If you want to build one from a stripped upper it's easy. Ar15sport sells the stripped upper for $100 and the rear sight kit for $60 but I've seen them
Cheaper elsewhere. Numrich also has some

Pic is my A2. Sold the middle AR because I never shot it
>>
>>33587424

How are A2s to shoot? I've been looking at building one.
>>
>>33587437
I enjoy it. The irons are nice, the rifle buffer and gas system make it a real joy to shoot. It also sounds nice, more like S CRAACK then a bang

I don't like how long the stock is but you can put an A1 stock on and it will feel better. That's on my to do list.

How noticeable is the weight difference from the A1 to A2?
