Going to need a .22lr semi-auto handgat
leaning towards this.
Anything better for <$400?
nobody?
It'll work.

The Walther P228 is WAY cooler looking, but the SR22 honestly feels better when shooting, at least to me.
The beretta neos pistols are pretty cheap, and they shoot well, but don't feel that great in the hand.
S&W has a cheapy M&P 22, as does beretta, but I haven't tried those yet.

22lr is fucking trash, get a 9mm
>>33576802
find a used ruger mark ii
Buckmark
>>33576802
I've yet to find anything I like better. A 22/45 of some sort would be the only close competition I've found so far. I want to love the regular mark series, but I don't like how they feel in my hands.

I don't like the controls on the p22 nearly as much, ruger were dicks for stealing the design 99%, but they did improve it.
>>33577061
I like the rifle version a ton, not so much the handgun. It's ok, but didn't feel as good.

22/45 MK IV is good. SR22P is good too though. I've got 4 or 5 MK series pistols and one SR22P. I like the MK pistols better because of the longer sight radius (my favourite is my Competition MKII), but the SR22P is a fun gun if you just want to plink.
SR22 is my first .22 handgun, its pretty neat, though if I dont put higher pressure ammo through it, it doesnt cycle all the way for some reason. Is that just a thing with 22 pistols?

Autism.
>>33577072
Oh and the Ruger is way more reliable than the Walther, unless Walther improved the design somehow.
>>33577118
Yes, though maybe yours needs tuning or cleaning. If it's clean, it should cycle with standard decent ammo. Try standard CCI. If it's not cycling with that, call Ruger.
>>33577072
Well if you like Brownings but not the Buckmark series, they have this. There are several brands of 1911's chambered for it if you don't want a little plastic short barrel semi-auto.
>>33577254
That'd be ok probably. But I doubt I'm going to buy another 22 pistol.
I barely shoot 22lr other than that pistol, literally been years since I shot my 10/22. I mostly stick with centerfire when I shoot any long guns.
If not centerfire, it's usually a pellet gun if I want cheap plinking.
Thanks guys, I'm gonna go with the sr22.

>leaning towards this
get it
those sr22's are about $350 new around here and after you shoot it 1000rds and don't want it anymore you can sell it for $250 easy
the sr22 is as reliable as a gun can get, your limits will be the 22lr ammo
i put about 1500rds thru mine and maybe 2-3 feed fails 10 ammo fails and about 1-2/10rds were less powerful than the rest - 22lr really is crap
and i only shot cci mini mags rem stingers amer federal
great gun tho way better than walther (pot metal) or s&w wannebee

Magazine issue

You can get sr22's for $280 for base model, threaded barrel versions go for $350
>>33576866
no reason to get this when the ppq 22 is a thing.
>>33576866
P22 a shit. it has a magnesium alloy slide that wears out in less than 1000 rounds. SR22 and 22/45 are infinitely better
Went with the 4.5" sr22. Shoots like a dream, no failures in 150 rounds out of the box.
Graduation gift to myself.
Thanks /k/

>>33576866
heard mixed things about this, as well as the sig mosquito
I have heard good things about rugers though. Both this and the mark 2 and 3
id go with anything ruger or a smith and wesson 22 revolver if you like revolvers. there are older .22 revolvers and autos to pick from but they might be harder/more expensive to find
I want a pumped Ruger lite with red dot and suppressor bad
>>33576802
Used to have a Chiappa SA revolver and a GSG 1911
The Chiappa was a lot of fun, especially to fan the hammer with those cheap, powderless Aguilera .22's
The GSG 1911 wasn't bad, the finish would scratch easily and the slide had a hard time cycling without hot ammo (Remington .22's sucked, but I had no issue with the CCI's.) On the flip side, it held 12 shots and it looked like a 1911!
Just my two cents

Since P22 was posted, PPQ 22 is obvious improvement.
