What is the one gun you have that you would never be able to sell? One that has no price tag?

It doesn't even need to be a gun. Just the one thing you will turn down the world to keep.

Picture unrelated to post content.

This post has helped me realize that there isn't one "thing" in my life that isn't replaceable.

>inb4 really makes you think
>>
>>33574608
Is there more than one?

Or, is it not a thing, but a person?

Either is fine. But, what is it?

My fiance and to a lesser, actually /k/ related degree, my great-grandfather's service rifle.

Thank you for making this thread, it's nice to think of things that are important to you once in a while. Have tits in return.

I have a ring that my great grandfather gave me.
It was part of a pair once, my great grandparents each had one and they both wore them.
I would still have the pair but the one that was my great grandmother's was stolen, most likely by my drug addict former step father, when I was 15.
I'll never let that one I still have go.

I have a couple things I would never let go of- but /k/ related would have to be my first Remington 870. I assembled it from a stripped receiver (not that there's exactly much skill or a ton of parts required for an 870) but I didn't really have a dad to teach me about firearms. Ordering one piece at a time and going through it step by step was really great and it was my first gun.

K related? Gonna have to be my Granddad's single shot .22. It fed his family during the depression, and I'll be damned if I let him down now that it's mine.

Not k related?....gonna have to go with my wife. I've been fucked over with break ins, things broken during moves, etc., to the point where I don't mind not having physical shit that I can't shove into a backpack. But if i lose my wife, I literally have no idea what I would do.

It won't be good, whatever it is.

As stupid as it sounds, my Mosin. It was my firstgun, and because if someone wants to take this from me then I, or we, have major fucking problems
>>

>As stupid as it sounds, my Mosin. It was my firstgun, and because if someone wants to take this from me then I, or we, have major fucking problems
It doesn't sound stupid at all. I've said for ages that all the people in their 20s who talk about their "$60 garbage rod" will, by the time they're 40, cherish it as their first and favorite gun.
>>
>>33576142

Is that a J.C. Higgens?
>>
>>33576881
Nothing stupid about it. I'd been shooting semi auto 54r for years before getting a mosin.
But that mosin is special to me, I love that gun. It's center of pigeon at 100 yards accurate and I love working that bolt.

My grandfather's High Standard. It may not be as cool as his service pistol (Dad still has that one) but it holds a lot of sentimental value for me because it is the very first gun I ever shot and would lead to over a decade of firearm fun with gramps. I miss him, man.
>>
>>33574577
/k/ related is a 1923 16 gauge fox-Sterlingworth side by side my Grandmother's second husband, we'll call him R, gave me on a few months before his death. He was a gunner and navigator on a PT boat in WWII and had great stories about the Phillipines and shooting up Japanese boats, positions, and occupied villages. R's kids are anti-gun and were very petty over his will and estate, he told me never to mention the shotgun to them. It is the smoothest shouldering and shooting gun I own.

Non /k/ related would have to be my class ring, I'm not married. I worked my ass off to graduate from college.

My great-grandfather's WWII issue Lee Enfield. He carried it through the war, and then through the Canadian woods for the next 50 years. I would have never sold it for any amount, but when he died, the syrup police took it and melted it. I didn't have my licence at the time and I am still broken up about it. Ever since then, I've been pissed at Canada's gun laws.

I have a Winchester 1894 30-30 built in 1919. I believe my great grandfather got it for my grandfather. I could never sell it.
>>
I've sold one gun and I really regret it. But I'm also very careful about what guns I buy. I live in California and getting exactly what you want can be hard. Better to buy it for life then get something cheaper or easier just to go through the hassle to change it later.

GODDAMN that looks pretty.

I had to restore mine, because mom and dad were antigun, but pro-heirloom. That little bolt was kept separate from the gun for probably as long as Granddad has been dead, and he died before I was born.

Imagine the whole gun covered in the rust as bad as the bolt.

Yours looks like your sight elevation is still intact. Cherish and love what you have, my Sears gun bro.
>>
I don't have feelings attached to anything, really. So realistically I could sell and replace anything I own, for the most part.
At least there isn't anything that sticks out in my mind as off limits.
>>
>>33577627

Damn, that sucks. Mine had zero rust on it. The only thing it needs to have done is to be blu again, cause mine was slowly worn off through out the yrs.

I always love working the bolt and loading it. Accurate lil gun too
>>
>>33577852

Forgot to add. Yeah, still have the sight elevation. I did lose it for a couple weeks, found it at the bottom of the safe.

Yeah, I cherish the shit out of it. Even though you can find the gun for 100 bucks, I wouldn't well sell it for any thing.
>>
>>33576881
I feel the same way about mine, the barrel' s almost shot out, but I can still hit targets.
>>
>>33574577
My AK.
I built it even before I wasn't an underageb& (14 for those who give a shit) on a reciever my mother bought me.

All the fucking 922r compliance shit I sifted through to figure out what was necessary, the saving and yearning to get my shop press and headspace gauges, the three month wait on the damn post office for the kit, and then, finally, the day it got its first compliment and the surprise when people found out I, a kid, built it...
Absolutely priceless.
It's what fueled my obsession with parts kits, and the crushing pain of the BS that's going on with their prices now.

It's been with me for years and I've never managed to ever get around to zeroing the sights, though I've tried and it still never holds any form of a grouping.

Maybe I'll try one more time. Thank you for the thread OP.
Brought back some good memories.
>>
My dad's carry piece, his Beretta 92fs.
He carried it for around ten years every work day, and gave it to me when he retired.
I'll keep it until I die.
>>
>>33574577
I don't know about, "turn down the world", but I will probably never get a good enough offer to sell the first AR I assembled. I took an armorers course because fuck it I'm going all out. It was pretty great for a few reasons. I installed free float rail in my bedroom. Great parts. Great deals. Shoots amazingly.

But, if a genie piped out of a bottle and offered to trade me a harem on lolis and a million dollars for it, that gun is gone.
>>

In all fairness, he said it was purely because it was an heirloom piece and wanted the frame refinished. Then the package fucking disappeared on its way back to him.

I think he did well with the hand that had been dealt him.
>>
>>33574577
My Mosin, it's my first firearm that's really my own. My parents got it for me for my 16th birthday and I was ecstatic. Ever since then, me and Natalya (yeah I named her get over it) have shot countless rounds at the range and gone out in the wilderness more times than I can count. In a way, that $100 shellac-covered ancient service rifle has been more of a companion than a lot of people in my life.
>>
>>33576142
Came here to post this very gun. My dad gave me his.

Related, would it be heresy to refinish the wood and cerakote the metal? Its showing a little wear after 80 years and i want to spruce it up.

I'm the guy you quoted.

Heresy? Probably not, unless you do something more. Like >>33588300 said, don't butcher it.

You can see a crack in the stock on mine, so I might need a refinish, new stock, or I might even fabricate one. And the metal is...well, it's pretty bad, but there's still steel. I'll keep it oiled well.

Probably my Rossi ranch hand carbine. Been in many hiking trips. Also been stalked with a cougar at night and I had this to defend me. Or my Winchester 70 got it a few years ago, it's a 1980 manufactur, got it from my coworker who inherited it from his dad. Thing is beat up and beautiful, got it for 500, even my 10/22 is pretty special to me
>>
>>33589201
And my mossman 500 has killed more coyotes than any other gun I have, got it 4 years ago and killed somewhere between 150-200. Been dropped out of my truck window by my dad when we almost died sliding off into a big fucking coulee. Lots of my guns are very special to me and I'd never sell them. My dad will be leaving me his old savage 19 in .300wm

I have to admit, that gun (while not the original gun) looks damn good.

I feel sorry you wound up having to go on such a roundabout method of restoring what you have left. I am, however, very glad that you found a way to pay homage to your father.

I don't want to sound like a sap, but my Mossberg 500 .410 my dad gave me before I moved to St. Louis for school a few years ago. He had taught me to shoot when I was in the Boy Scouts but we never really did it regularly. We both knew how much violent crime was in the city. Thank god I never had to use it in self defense.

It's also a pretty fun shooter

I really wish he had kept the authentic uzi we had.
>>

I think that's pretty obvious (one would hope) to all of us. I think OP means an inanimate object that is worth more than its monetrary value.
>>
>>33576881
Same here, man. My first gun was an M91/30 that I got at a local pawn shop for about $100. The bolt's gotten a little finicky as time has gone on, but it still shoots great and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
>>
Not /k/ related but I couldn't stand to lose my wife. I would rather be tortured to death than face the fact that she was taken from me. The things I will do to anyone who hurts her. On a not so dark note, also my dog. I know that sounds stupid but she's always been there for me, even saved my life when I was younger. She's aging now, probably doesn't have too much longer. I'll be sad when she's gone.
