I don't get why Germany honored Swiss neutrality in WWI. They were perfectly fine violating Belgium, when the trenches ran from Switzerland to the North Sea why not try to flank through? Especially after Italy had already entered the war.

A German farmers son who did a damn fine job as a blacksmiths apprentice but dropped out half way through and studied history and wound up at a college/university.

Then WW1 started and I got drafted.
Having been a history nut and a blacksmiths apprentice, armaments are a natural addition to my many interests.
I'd be fairly proficient with older BP rifles and some of the older stop gap weaponry in service (Gewehr 1888s and earlier) but not very good with the pistols and Gewehr 98s.

I'd probably have an okay time barring trench raiding and early morning shit but otherwise I'd have a blast collecting up the enemys' guns and arms.

I honestly would be fine on either side as I'm an American who's half German half Irish.

But again, no matter what side I'd have a fairly okay time collecting the weaponry .

I would have been 6 when the civil war ended. Assuming I enlisted at 20, I would have been involved in assorted Indian wars and punitive expeditions during my military career. I would have remembered the Maine, the Spanish-American war would have been about a year before I retired.

Afterward, I would spend my days shitposting on proto-4chan via telegraph. Teddy Roosevelt passed through the supply depot where I was stationed once, so I'm operator as fuck. Just ask me and I'll tell you all about it. 19 years old, upper class in Brazil, both parents are doctors.
Our troops never saw combat in WW1 but we did send several volunteers to serve in the RAF so I'd probably do that.

Probably recently enlisted in the army. Is it worth paying $15 to have one of those newfangled 1911 pistols as a sidearm? I'm worries they not not be as reliable as Dad's Colt Single Action Army.
