Who cares? The ME needs order, and Assad gave us that. The ME will never be "moral."

This is why I hate White people. You are so fucking sheltered and naive, you think there's a White person deep inside all these backwards savages who just needs education and gibs and then we can all live free in a progressive world government. You learned nothing from Iraq.

You are the problem. Ask an anthropologist and they will tell you the same thing, but in much different terms. When did we become such pussies?

The right has been losing along a single front for 50 years and you fucks still can't figure it out. There is one heuristic that fits: anti-White racism, and the biggest offenders are ourselves. You call it edgy, but what I said would not have been controversial outside very recent history. You are the either a boomer or the subject of boomer insanity.
>>
>>33566524
You're a fucking moron if you really think the U.S. has ever done anything in the ME out of benevolence. Everything has been to further our geopolitical goals in the region. Just because you bought into the bullshit hearts and minds propaganda and now are angry because you think we are on some peace mission bullshit doesn't mean the rest of us are. Governments in the west know that the only way to get shit done is by pretending it is for humanitarian reasons. Go suck you some nazis old decrepit cock you fucking ignorant faggot.

LOL.. if you take a look at drone footage and aftermath pics, you can tell half those Tomahawks didn't even enter the AO. They fell into the sea most probably.

That's why they need 59 of them to destroy a small airfield.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, any airstrike or missile hitting targets in territory controlled by the Syrian government would put Russian personnel in danger.

The defense official said that members of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria are working “on the ground” delivering aid and communicating with a large number of communities in Syria.

“Therefore, any missile or air strikes on the territory controlled by the Syrian government will create a clear threat to Russian servicemen.”

“Russian air defense system crews are unlikely to have time to determine in a ‘straight line’ the exact flight paths of missiles and then who the warheads belong to. And all the illusions of amateurs about the existence of ‘invisible’ jets will face a disappointing reality,” Konashenkov added.

He also noted that Syria itself has S-200 as well as BUK systems, and their technical capabilities have been updated over the past year.

There has been at least half a dozen threads started by buttblasted vatniks pushing the kreml spawned lie about "muh 23".
The fact that kreml has mobilized their entire shillbot armada for this points to that russia tried to stop the attack but as we all know, russian S-400 and S-300 are SHIT at actually doing things ant that the russian IADS meme can finally die. 58 missiles hit, this is Hanoi all over again, when faced with competent opposition, russia folds like gay little bitches.

"In October 2016, the Russian Defense Ministry said that a S-300 system was sent to Syria to ensure the safety of the Russian naval base in Tartus. According to media reports, the system deployed in Syria is S-300V4 — NATO designation SA-23 Gladiator — that is capable of striking tactical and strategic aircraft, medium-range ballistic missiles, tactical missiles as well as cruise missiles."

"The S-400 uses four missiles to fill its performance envelope: the very-long-range 40N6 (400 km), the long-range 48N6 (250 km), the medium-range 9M96E2 (120 km) and the short-range 9M96E (40 km)."

Russians also said that the rebels literally gassed their own village and blew up their own hospital

Then a couple hours later they said Assad's war plane blew up the village which was the home of a high-tech chemical weapons production facility which then released the sarin gas that somehow managed to disperse and kill the highly skilled chemical engineers (who were mostly kids but w/e). They then blew up the hospital because why the fuck not.

Have any of you realized that you're both wrong? Cruise missiles are highly accurate, we showed that in both Gulf Wars. We also warned the Russians that the attack was coming. Engaging the missiles would have been more costly on a diplomatic and military level than the damage inflicted to the Syrian air base. Neither the US or the Russians are looking for an open conflict. The Russians aren't trying to get blockaded then buttfucked in Syria and the US doesn't want aircraft losses that they would absolutely sustain. REMINDER

Men, all this stuff you hear about America not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of bullshit. Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting and clash of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, the big-league ball players and the toughest boxers. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time. That's why Americans have never lost and will never lose a war. The very thought of losing is hateful to Americans. Battle is the most significant competition in which a man can indulge. It brings out all that is best and it removes all that is base.

>this could have easily (and may still) lead to world war three
Despite Putin's best efforts to portray it that way in 2013 (when Russia didn't even have an expeditionary force in place), there was never any real chance it would lead to a massive escalation. And it won't now.
A limited cruise missile strike isn't worth ending the world over. Putin isn't stupid enough to do that, but he probably believes you are enough to parrot that line that he kept insinuating.
Any conventional response would have led to a greater US escalation. The US can always +1 what Russia is capable of conventionally. They knew they would lose.

These strikes didn't appear to cause major havoc in Syria, but they did do one very important thing: pop the bubble that Assad, and Putin more broadly, are untouchable because it's too hard, too complicated, too scary, and too late.

will have to fight them and it will take six years and cost us six

The strikes have done the following:

Assad is now on notice. Chemical attacks are a no-no or risk more cruise missiles.

Russia is now worried that Assad might think they were complicit with the US strikes due to no response.

NK sees that US struck Syria in response to chemical attacks which is considered a WMD. NK now sees the US as willing to strike if it will move towards a nuke strike.

China discovered that within 48 hours a targeted strike against Syrian position wiped out most of the usable equipment on the airfield worth using which bypassed the coastal defense network Syria had.

"Things are a bit sticky, sir," Brig Tom Brodie of the Gloucestershire Regiment told General Robert H Soule, intending to convey that they were in extreme difficulty.

But Gen Soule understood this to mean "We're having a bit of rough and tumble but we're holding the line". Oh good, the general decided, no need to reinforce or withdraw them, not yet anyway.
"Then we realised that we were into trouble. We wouldn't be human if we hadn't got scared - a mass of people rushing at you, bayonets fixed, grenades being thrown, shouting, screaming, because they used it as a fear tactic."

"Several of their assaults just broke up because you can imagine the force of five Bren guns, with one loose on the side. That's 150 rounds all in one spurt in the space of seconds. I saw an awful lot of dead Chinese."

"It was more or less a death or glory sort of stunt."

"The tanks were going straight through them. And that's all I could hear, these people screaming, being crushed by the tanks as they went through them. Quite a horrible experience."
"It was a mess, just a mess. The sides of the tanks were covered in blood. All the tracks were full of limbs, it was a mess. It was a mess. So much so that we were taken off into the tents so that we wouldn't see any more of it. But it was a horrible mess."

>>
>>33569672
This.

Note that the constant bitching about 'US militarism' in Chinese newspapers suddenly stopped for a bit.
>>
>>33569682
One has to remember, by taking swift action quickly and putting forth his own version of the story before the Russians did, Trump now controls the narrative.

By controlling the narrative it makes Russia look weak no matter what they do. A major ally of theirs got hit by a strike. A very limited strike and almost certainly built to limit damage to explicit military targets. Not only had this gotten the attention of Russian and Syria is has caused a whole lot of pain.

Russia now has to put additional forces to shore up any gaps, forcing them to commit even more. Assad now has a dwindling corp of aircraft he can call upon. Equipment and materials were lost. Replaceable but time is not on his side. Every year Assad fights his backers lose money and patience.

Russia has been checked in this regard. If Assad becomes increasingly angry that his backers have abandon him he might resort to different allies such as China. Remember that China is not and will never be Russia's friend even if they share the bed now.

"Often, when we're assigned a new order for, say, 'salad shooters,' I will say to myself, 'There's no way that anyone will ever buy these,'" Chen said during his lunch break in an open-air courtyard. "One month later, we will receive an order for the same product, but three times the quantity. How can anyone have a need for such useless shit?"

Chen, 23, who has worked as an injection-mold operator at the factory since it opened in 1996, said he frequently asks himself these questions during his workweek, which exceeds 60 hours and earns him the equivalent of $21.

"I hear that Americans can buy anything they want, and I believe it, judging from the things I've made for them," Chen said. "And I also hear that, when they no longer want an item, they simply throw it away. So wasteful and contemptible."

Among the items that Chen has helped create are plastic-bag dispensers, microwave omelet cookers, glow-in-the-dark page magnifiers, Christmas-themed file baskets, animal-shaped contact-lens cases, and adhesive-backed wall hooks.

"Sometimes, an item the factory produces resembles nothing I've ever seen," Chen said. "One time, we made something that looked like a ladle, but it had holes in its cup and a handle that bent down 90 degrees. The foreman told us that it was a soda-can holder for an automobile. If you are lucky enough to own a car, sit back and enjoy the journey. Save the soda beverage for later."

Chen added: "A cup holder is not a necessary thing to own."

Chen expressed similar confusion over the tens of thousands of pineapple corers, plastic eyeshades, toothpick dispensers, and dog pull-toys that he has helped manufacture.
>>
"Why the demand for so many kitchen gadgets?" Chen said. "I can understand having a good wok, a rice cooker, a tea kettle, a hot plate, some utensils, good china, a teapot with a strainer, and maybe a thermos. But all these extra things—where do the Americans put them? How many times will you use a taco-shell holder? 'Oh, I really need this silverware-drawer sorter or I will have fits.' Shut up, stupid American."

Chen added that many of the items break after only a few uses.

"None are built to last very long," Chen said. "That is probably so the Americans can return to buy more. Not even the badly translated assembly instructions deter them. If I bought a kitchen item that came with such poor Mandarin instructions, I would return the item immediately."

May Gao of the Hong Kong-based labor-advocacy group China Labour Bulletin said complaints like Chen's are common among workers in China's bustling industrial cities.

"Last week, I took testimony from several young female workers from Shenzhen who said they were locked in a work room for 18 straight hours making inflatable Frisbees," Gao said. "Finally, the girls joined hands on the factory floor and began to chant, 'No more insane flying toys for Western pigs!' They quickly lost their jobs and were ostracized by their families, but the incident was a testament to China's growing disillusionment with producing needless crap for fat-ass foreigners."

Continued Gao: "As Chinese manufacturing and foreign investment continue to grow, and more silly novelty products are invented, we can expect to see more of these protests."

In the meantime, Chen continues to stew in bitterness. Though he dislikes his work, competition for manufacturing jobs in Fenghua is stiff and he must support his wife, mother, and 2-year-old son.
>>
"My cousin Yuen is self-employed," Chen said. "He disassembles old computers that are acquired from overseas and extracts the traces of valuable gold and silver from the circuit boards. He asked me to join him. The work is very toxic, but at least I would not be looking at suction-cup razor holders and jumbo-dice keychains all day."

Chen added: "For now, I must refuse the job. Somehow, the only thing more depressing than making plastic shit for Americans is destroying the plastic shit they send back."

Chen made parts for the S400 missile system.

'More useless broken crap" he said.

Assad's price for Tartarus is protection for the Alawites, and protection for the Alawites is easiest accomplished by continuing to prop up Assad.

Also Russia really wants to block a natural gas pipeline from Kuwait to Europe, having the cheapest and most convenient supply of natural gas is a very strong political and economic boon for Russia.

Everyone who sneers at the US for being weak now is looking closely at Trump. Not because he is out of control but is very deliberate at his own brand of chaos. He sows chaos at home, he can do so abroad. I think Russia is so accustomed in playing the madman that they are taken aback by how fucking swift Trump acted on military issues. So if Trump sows political chaos, Mattis sows military chaos.

Chaos as in sowing doubt in Assad that Russia will help him. US just put its dick in Syria, ejaculated and pulled out while Russia looked on.

why do you guys all have such a burning hatred of all things russian?

>>
>>33570900
>why do you guys all have such a burning hatred of all things russian?
In 2009 I saw Russia as a young democracies with lots of problems that would ideally be resolved over time. As time passed those problems did not get resolved, they became more intrinsic. The political system was becoming more and more tyrannical. That alone is not really grounds for "hatred". After all we back Saudi Arabia, a monarchy implicated in its fair share of tyranny.

Putin was paying a political price, until Euromaiden happened. Then suddenly his numbers skyrocketed. No longer was his regime in any real political danger, it was now embolden. Embolden with a nationalist agenda.

"Not a democracy in the process of failing but a kleptocracy in the process of succeeding."

Since then Russia has engaged in open conquest, border drawing, become more politically repressive, engaged in international political murder and organized the most successful propaganda machine in the world. Over all a very toxic player in the international world. Yet Putin numbers remain sky high.

So high that he has even drawn some fan fair from the West. Some people here see Putin as some sort of political hero, strongman proto dictator, making Russia great again. I wonder if these people recognized that he is murderous tyrant that literally engaged in 9/11 truther tier conspiracies, to start wars. Do they think that is just fake news, or is that how they imagined their ideal politician?

But who knows, I am just a Hillary voting Neo Lib cuck establishment statist. I am told this is considered a tier below SJW here.

I don't hate Russia/Russians at all.

I am disappointed in the path that Putin and his party have steered Russia back towards Authoritarianism and territorial ambition. and I recognize that Russia's foreign policy objectives conflict with America's interests.

I wish that wasn't the case. I would really have liked for the promise of the late 90s and early 00s to have come to fruition, and for Russia to move with us, forward, into a future focused on advancing the human race and building infrastructure in space, and not just arguing over who gets to decide how dune coons take payment for their fossil fuel resources.

Both the US and Russia have had missteps that have lead away from this potential future, but it's my reading of the last 20 years that the lion's share of the missteps have been Russian missteps. I can even understand why they have been Russian missteps, certainly the suffering of the Russian people has been far greater than the suffering of the American people in that timeframe and in the timeframe of the 20 years previous.

But suffering doesn't undo the missteps.

That is a possibility, or they fired and did, or didn't, hit any Tomahawks. It'd be in the best interest of the Russians to keep quiet if they weren't able to shoot any down.
And just because the strike was made known to the Russians, it seems a bit much for the US to demand they didn't fire on incoming missiles that were aimed at a supposed ally. I seriously doubt the Russians (or Syrians) would have agreed to that.

Protection that doesn't extend to regimes that "use" chemical weapons.

This is a distraction for something. In the end, Assad will be scaped like a goat, and some other pro-russia strongman will take power and continue to block the Euro Natural Gas pipeline.

In the interim, we have the victory of removing "the monster Assad" and in the end, Russia gets what it wants, which is a Med port for their navy and a blocking state for the natural gas pipeline running from Kuwait to Europe.

>Donald Trump’s decision to blitz a Syrian air base with cruise missiles was only to punish Bashar al-Assad for using chemical weapons and does not herald a major military escalation against the Syrian dictator, senior Republicans have said.
>The Republican’s senate leader said the barrage of 59 missiles “was related to the use of chemical weapons only," while the US secretary of state said America’s military plans in Syria were unchanged.

>Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, said they would continue to focus on the mission to defeat Isil in Syria, and would even work - indirectly -alongside Damascus to achieve the aim.
>He described the strike as a punishment to remind the Assad regime that there has to be a "mutual level of human decency" in its behaviour. But he added that this action was separate to their wider national security goals.

What does "unchanged" mean? Unchanged from a day ago, when we launched missiles?
