CA, NJ, MA, NY, and CT. From one of these states? GET IN HERE! Not from one of these states? GET IN HERE ANYWAY!

NJfag here. Bought my first gun last week after a bit of research. I chose the Savage Arms MSR15 Patrol rifle and I really like it! It fires fine with no issues, is very accurate, and shoots both .223REM and 5.56. I have no issues with the rifle itself - it's great!

However, my state laws are completely fucked.
>Stock is pinned because adjustable and folding stocks are illegal here.
>Mags are pinned because we have a 15-round limit on our mags.
>Only allowed 2 attachments, but the stock counts as one - so you're really only allowed one attachment unless you forgo your stock.

Other issues I have with my state's gun laws:
>Carry permits are only granted to LEOs
>Denial of carry permits goes on your record and delays/restricts future gun purchases
>Equal Force self-defense laws make it illegal to protect your home with a gun if your assailant is not armed with a gun.
>ARs and AKs cannot be used for home defense AT ALL

What's your gripe with your gun-fucked state? How do we change the current state of things to get our rights back without resorting to violence? Which less-fucked states are you interested in moving to?

Those of you NOT from the aforementioned states, help us get out of the gun-fucked states. What state do you live in? Why are the gun laws so great? What sort of industries are hiring around you?
>>
MA here. Im not really bothered since VT and NH are right next door and this state is the size of a large football field so travel isn't an issue
>>
Holy fuck, do they think your life is a video game?

None of that shit makes any sense.
>>
>>33565506
>without resorting to violence

You can't.
>>

>not allowed to carry or defend yourself at all
wow, i live across the river in PA and I had no idea it was quite this bad. A jersey friend of mine is looking to get his first gun and i've been giving him some advice etc. He wants to get an old surplus bolt gun i think. Anything you'd recommend that's actually legal?

>>
OP here.

>>33565532
Like you, PA is next door to us and it only takes an hour and a half to get to the border. But what about home defense, or carrying as self-defense? Why are you not bothered that the state dictates that you MUST be a victim in the event of violence in or near your own home?

>>33565537
>Holy fuck, do they think your life is a video game? None of that shit makes any sense.
Welcome to New Jersey, home of "FUCK YOU I GOT MINE" and the Jew haven that is Lakewood.

>>33565557
>Anything you'd recommend that's actually legal?
Yes, move to a state with better gun laws.

Aside from that, I never looked into bolt-action guns but let me shop around and get back to you in a few minutes.
>>
>>33565654
Well as far as i know Enfields, Arisakas, Nuggets and Mausers are legal there, right?

Also: are you considering moving? We have it pretty good here in PA. Philadelphia county is a bit gayer than other places but there are some decent counties that form the philly suburbs where gun laws are a bit better. For example you can't ship ammo to a Phila County address, which means you have to get ripped off at a retail store.
>>
>>33565506
OP how long did it take you FPID card to go through?

As another NJ fag who is currently stuck in NJ himself, I recommend escaping as fast as you can. If you can't escape, pray that the Supreme Court will start hearing some more 2nd based cases now that Gorsuch has been confirmed.

Also I have never heard of the AR being illegal to use in home defense. Even if it's not, I would still recommend against using one due to how fucking left our courts are and how much they will rape you with a rusty wooden spoon should you actually use one in defense.
>>
>>33565690
Speaking of Lakewood, never drive there. Have you seen how fucking dented all the cars are?
>>
>>33565506
California reporting in.
My gripe with this state is the fact that I can't buy any newly manufactured guns...
No access to CZ P10Cs, Beretta APXs, M&Ps 2.0s, New Gen Glocks, Sig P320s...
I can deal with the 10 rounds mags.
I can deal with the 30 day waiting period between gun purchases.
I can deal with the 10 day waiting period between purchase and pick-up.
But dammit I want new modern guns for under MSRP! I'll be damned if I pay over 500 bucks for a Glock 43 from some opportunistic assmunch on Arms list.
*not an issue now, but when background checks for ammo comes into play I'll be fucking piiiiissssssed!

MN here, not really that bad the only "restriction" is that you have to apply for a permit to purchase if you want handguns or "assault weapon", which you just send into the county sheriff and get back in a week

The entire purpose of gun rights is to have military styled assault weapons.
The premise will never hold ground.
The militia being necessary to the security of the state is already rolled into being part of the state for the security of it. These arguments are never about gun rights, it's about the state. It only devolves the discussion to being state vs anti state, rather than being able to support the state since militia system was rolled into it.
It made sense when there were limited roads, when people can build bridges to no where they can build twice as many roads and claim whatever they want about them and have a majority.
>>
>>33565889
Haven't been further West than Gettysburg, but yeah does seem less full of liberal/anti gun cucks as soon as you get away from the coast. in Philly metro area, and in Jersey about once a week with friends. It's way less restrictive in PA as a whole and only a 15 min drive across the river. Phila County isn't perfect but there are definitely good areas, and neighbouring counties are even better for gun laws. Living in Bucks County, Chester County or Montco could be cool coz lots of innawoods areas and no retarded gun laws but still in a metro area with jobs etc.

Hello, NY here. Online ammo purchases are illegal.

Is it legal to ship to an out of state address, pick it up, and bring it to NY? Or at least is it legal to purchase ammunition from another state (e.g. a Walmart in PA)?

I prefer smaller subcompacts (ie Glock 26) which have 10 round mags to begin with.
In a HD situation I can always do New York reloads.

>30 day waiting periods.
I don't have the money to be buying guns too often, so I'm relatively unaffected.

>10 day waiting period from purchase to pick up.
I'm not no-guns, so an immediate need for newly purchased guns is not present. Again, personally I'm relatively unaffected.

Also, I'm stationed here (been stationed here for a few years already) so I'll be moving away hopefully by next summer.

Read up, then go to your local police dept for forms and info on gun safety courses. Apply for CC permit then see what they will give you.
Wait can be 8 weeks or longer and a lot depends on the town you're in and their department's attitude toward permitting.

different MA resident. It depends on where you live. Basically you want as far away from Boston as you can. What I did
>sign up for a gun safety class
>go to (In my case) a cops house
>he goes over the basics of laws in this state, dos and donts, and let us finger fuck some of his guns [saying what he can get as an LEO and what we cant)
>fill out some paper work he gives you, he takes it to the station
>pay him 80 dollars, then another 200 for the police to license me
>get printed, get my photo take for the liencese
>wait 2-3 months (my case 2) while they make sure youre not a felon and they call you back
>get a permit for the next 5 years

its different for everyone, yeah mine was kind of lame in comparisons to freedom loving states but it could be much worse. I aslo got the permit to carry license, which is the hardest to get. You can get an FID card or a licence to hunt which is easier I think. No waiting period for purchases either, ive walked out of gun stores with my purchases once they check my permit. You do have to abide by laws of what you can and cant get though, but you might get lucky and find a pre ban item that is behind enemy lines here

What? Really? How? I thought it was illegal.

I was just thinking about buying huge bulks (at least 1000rd purchases), asking a gun shop to order it for me, pay the transfer fee and then part ways.
>>
>>33566304
>What? Adjustable stocks are outlawed in NJ. Mine is adjustable, but it's pinned in order to comply. Does that mean I already have 2 attachments on my pin cushion?
No. The adjustable stock counts as an "evil feature" so long as it's unpinned. When it is pinned, it counts as a regular stock. Regular stocks do not count as evil features.
>>
>>33566323
So an adjustable stock counts as an attachment, but since it's considered evil I won't ever have to worry about it within the state?

Some of them. Usually find funny solutions to the detachable mag problem.
>>
>>33566343
Not sure what you mean by that. The adjustable stock only counts as an evil feature if it's still adjustable. Once pinned, you don't need to worry about it. You CAN have a regular, working adjustable stock on a gun though, so long as you're still following the 2 feature guideline. So if you had something like an Ares ACR without a pistol grip, you could slap an adjustable stock on there and be fine.

>>33566304
>better your situation

Literally cannot get any better over here.

>>33566309
If liberals are headed our way, that means they're moving everywhere else. This also means that the future belongs to the liberals. This then means that there are bigger problems than me not wanting anyone else here.

Grew up in NJ, have lived in CA for about 20 years. As bad as CA is compared to someplace like, say, NH or NV, it's surprisingly probably about the best of the cucked states. You don't need a permit to buy a gun at all, and the Firearm Safety Certificate is both trivially cheap and trivially easy to get. The biggest issue is the whole thing about an ammo purchase card, but since Gorsuch got confirmed to the Court today (while everybody was howling about a few missiles lobbed at Syria), there's a good chance that'll get overturned. Not to mention that it's already April and the huge, complex database they'd need by the end of the year to make it work hasn't even been started yet, so you can bet it'll at least get delayed a year or two.

It's bad, but it could be a lot worse.
>>
>>33565506

>>33566423
They aren't really moving all over the place as I understand. As far as I can tell, the baby boomer generation is retiring in AZ, NM, FL, TX and NC mostly. And where they go, so does their politics.

The sad thing is most of these states are welcoming them in with open arms since they bring tons of money and don't reduce the job load at all.
>>
>>33566376
>You CAN have a regular, working adjustable stock on a gun though, so long as you're still following the 2 feature guideline.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_New_Jersey#Assault_Firearms_and_Magazine_Capacity
The way that this section is written, I am inferring that assault style weapons purchased after May 1, 1990 are outright banned, and doing things like pinning he stock, making the barren unable to accept suppressors, removing the pistol grip, or opting for the non-detachable magazines on the gun in question removes the "assault" classification. This was much more complicated than I had originally though - which is probably why I had a tough time wrapping my head around what you were saying.

>>33566394

>I just transferred in my company from NJ to PA so I had a guaranteed job when I came out here
I work for a contractor so my situation doesn't allow me to move/transfer easily. Not sure but I think I'd need to find a job that would assist me with moving out there, but it'd be cheaper for a company to send someone local out to training than it would be to bring in a professional from out of state...

That is true, but they are only considered an "assault weapon" if you go over the two feature rule. As far as I know, the only way you can legally convert a weapon to a compliant one is to have a dealer convert it before you purchase. It is not legal at all to own one and convert it yourself.

A good deal of the "Mexican" areas are quite acceptable as well. Thankfully most of them that come here have learned to adopt a good deal of Texas culture.

Of course as a general rule always avoid any location with a black population over 4%.

Start with this, but then search for other resources. Have a good read around about anything affecting your county in particular. Once you are aware what's legal I suggest you look into trying to get something sooner rather than later because it's likely to get more and more stringent the longer you put it off. You can likely get something for $400 or less. Even $300.

Still in college, cost of living here isn't cheap but it beats living in the Bay (which isn't saying much at all). And to be honest guns aren't a hugely important part of my day to day life, I'm not willing to uproot and leave everyone behind so I can get an uncucked AR just yet.

What?
The only gripes I have with PA are that it's shall issue vs constitutional carry, that handguns must be transferred through an FFL (currently working to change that), and no hunting deer with semi autos (game commission is writing new rules)
Hawaii has a 10 round limit on pistol mags including mags that can be used in pistol like ar mags, and possibly a feature-based AWB.

I know how you feel, friend. Bergen fag here. There are a few places up in Jew York that sells okay mosin nagants but the best place to get them would be Sarco in Easton, PA. $275 for a 1942 mosin. Its the best price I can find for them around here.

Check the czechpoint (the Czech company that make vz 58's) website.

Their "Liberty" models are fixed 10 round magazine VZ 58's (you can undo it once you move to a free state). Basically a more accurate and light SKS with pistol grip. More expensive though.

Not true at all. As far as I can find, there are no equal force laws on the books for NJ. In fact, NJ has castle doctrine law in that you are able to use deadly force to protect your home and people within it if you estimate such force is necessary, and there is no duty to retreat from your home in the event of someone breaking and entering/attacking you. That said, there aren't any civil immunity laws, so prepare for Tyrone's family to say he was a gud boy and try to squeeze millions out of you.

The people at shooters are Autists. I've been muzzle swept countless times, I've heard employees and customers speak about how 5.56 is "People killing ammo". They usually don't clear guns before handing them over the counter, And all together with it's not an enjoyable experience.

When i go spend $800-$1400 on a firearm, I want to fucking enjoy the experience of spending all my money.

If you go in there after 10, Don't expect to look at more than 2 guns.

CA fag here.

Currently have an AK in 5.45, which is a pain in the ass to feed and to find good magazines for. It shoots well, but I sometimes not regret getting one in 7.62x39 since they're easier to get here. Just popped the grip off of mine, and added on a stock extension. I more or less shoot it like an uncomfortable, unconverted Saiga rifle. I managed to grab a few 30 round magazine repair kits before that one bitch of a senator from Davis ruined everything and banned them from being purchased. At least I am ready to convert it back to a normal AK the moment shtf, or we become free with the repeal of the gun laws in SCOTUS.

Fuck Coastal CA and the democrats they keep electing. Can't wait for the new Justice in SCOTUS to begin slapping down gun control laws, we're going to need all those tears to keep the drought away, since the tears shed over Trump getting elected isn't enough.
