This is a shotgun general. Anything goes and anyone can talk anything shotty. I'm interested in what you guys have to say, me and a friend are looking into buying ones for ourselves and thinking we're going to go with the Mossberg 500. Thoughts?

I love my mossy. For general shotgunning, either a m500/590 or an OLDER 870. Nova's aren't bad either. Go with a bead sight no matter what. Ghost rings may look cooler, but they aren't as practical.

I had to turn my bud off from Remington he was really liking their prices but I told him how they're newer models are really worth it. Will Remington make a comeback and make qaulity firearms once again?
>>33555245
Why are bead sights superior?
>Ithaca 37 Featherlight w/ variable choke
>300 bucks after tax
How'd I do?
still the same setup.
>>33555805
Because they're much faster to center on target than basically anything else, and you don't need fancy sights for a shotgun
Best
>Pump: 870
>Semi: 930
>Auto: AA12
>>33559889
just saw a 930 for $389. brand new. No rail, no pistol grip, just a bead sight. 8 round capacity. Should I get it? I have no shotguns and want to get into the semi auto game cheap.

Mossberg 500, or 590?
>>33565529
Zero fucking difference.
>>33565553
No difference in part composition? I remember reading how certain things made with aluminum in the 500 were made with metal in the 590. is this true?
>>33565585
There are minute alterations in the 590, but what I mean is they make absolutely no difference.
>>33565598
Fair enough.
which slugs are the best you can get for each barrel/choke type?
rifled barred, rifled choke, cylinder bore, improved cylinder bore.
>>33565529
Wrong. The big one is 90 stronger.
>>33565717
Pardon me?
>>33565981
He made a stupid joke. Higher number means better.
500 + 90 = 590, mkay?
Personally, I find the fit & finish on Mossbergs to be absolute ass.

I've got the 18.5" (7/8?)+1 Mossberg 500, and I've never had a single problem with it.
I've probably shot ~1000 rounds of 7.5 / 8 shot Winchester universal and other cheap ammo out of it over 3 years. I've literally never cleaned it since the day I bought it, beyond just wiping it down on the outside.
My buddy has the equivalent Reminton 870, and we go to the local sporting clays range now and then and blast away. These short barreled chokeless guns are far from ideal for shooting clays, but it's a lot of fun anyway.

>Novas aren't bad either
Taking it you mean the Benelli Nova, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the Supernova as an, as you put it, all-round shotgun (Hunting, occasional trap shoot / junk shooting, bumps in the night).
I haven't got a clue about shotguns, other than my mate praising Italian shotguns up and down for days on end whenever he gets the chance.
Now, clueless as I am, I've no idea if I want a pump action or a semiauto (I've got this notion about pump actions being easier to maintain, and I really just want my guns to just werk), at which point I'm starting to wonder about the M2, or if I'm to try that there Winchester SX3
Beg pardon if my list seems rather limited, but pump actions are not very big in my country, and semiautos aside from obscenely expensive Berettas are not particularly common either.

Amazing, i'm so goddamn jealous of people who can easily get Ithacas.
I'm a leaf, by the by.

Wrong
Waiting for it to be delivered to my FFL!! Cannot wait to get my hands on it.
>>33568832
Enjoy your joke gun.
>>33568854
Enjoy your jelly.

I've had one for half a decade my dude, they're fun but otherwise useless.
