Any suggestions for next rifle?

undefolder or fixed stock akm.

Daewoo, do you not have a job? School? Literally anything outside of /akg/?

Spoilers: K-Var is restocking Arsenals next week, get em while they're hot
Thanks tranny ward, got my stock set yesterday.

that is cool.
Did I overpay? Went a little nuts this morning.
>>33553309
on the 40rnd bake you did, the other 2 are meh.
are AK74s a meme? should i get an AK74? already have WASR.
Y/N?
>>33553338
yes, get the 74.
>>33553364
Is that Kvar plum furniture or original?
>>33553274
where did you get this information my friend
>>33553379
Russian or original as you say.

They beyond raped you on the 40 round bake

>>33553309
I just paid 66 bucks shipped on a 40 round Bakelite. NOS slight handling marks.
this was my first ak.
My only AK as of now. Zastava OPAP, I have some furniture from the Yugoslav wars coming in a few days.
Really want to build one from a parts kit, any suggestions? Will be buying a receiver from Nodak
>>33553406
>>33553422
Damn, really? I've only found them online for $130-$200.
>>33553451
Romanian with original barrel. Make sure you get full auto selector mark.
>>33553473
Ak files is where you should be looking.
(You) make me not like AK quite as much
>>33553473
Files has them for like $75 I think.
Someone buy this

My first AK. It's a Romanian Sar1.
>tfw my mag guy in Russia is moving and can't sell me mags anymore
I'm genuinely conflicted on what I'm going to do to get mags now. I kinda stumbled into this business relationship with this guy and I'm not sure how I'm going to start another with someone else
>>33553474
>>33553451
If you're getting a parts kit, maybe get something nicer than a romanian. Too many options out there to settle for gypsy trash
>>33553538
Why don't you change out the rear site? Did you get it welded? Is your bho gone?
>>33553823
Another one bites the dust. The market is already over saturated.
>>33553896
I'd like another Yugo but nodaks yugo receivers don't come with the front trunnion holes pre drilled
heh heh
>>33554023
Saturated with artificially priced $30-$40 mags.
>>33554081
Don't let that stop you
>>33554081
Literally a non issue
>>33553143
I'm new here, just became /hasgun/ a month or so ago. Today, I finished my build, for now.
Do I belong here, akg?
>>33553242
I'm keeping my eye out for something Chinese, a 56s or possibly a MAK90. I also want to fall for the Maadi meme
>>33553286
I want to get a big WASR at some point but I want an AKM clone first. If we get more Vepr 1v's I will buy one for sure
>>33554169
Not really. Just have to work a deal with the sellers here nd they'll drop it to 25-28 with no shipping.
>>33554185
>>33554207
I really don't want to fuck up my first build. What's the best way to go about it?
>>33554225
>build
>it's a Vepr with a scope and extendo
You'll fit right in
>>33554225
that's not a vepr 'build'
this is a vepr build
Are the PSA kits worth it?
>>33554253
Sweet.
Now, should I feel lame for keeping the factory furniture on it?
It's honestly the most comfortable rifle I've ever shot, on par with wood-stock competition anschutz smallbore rifles.
Part of me wants to go for the BHA composite SVD furniture, but I don't want to ruin the god-tier ergonomics just to turn it into even more of a wannabe SVD than it already is.
This shit took forever to post
Anyway
Going to try making it in the summer
>>33554238
$25-$28 is still more than twice what those of us who buy from Russia pay. Again, artificially priced. They only cost that much because that is what people say they cost an that's what people will pay for them.
How hard is it to modify Zenit furniture to fit a milled AK?
>>33554338
Very, milled and stamped furniture are different
>>33554273
Yeah, I get what you're going for, but that wasn't the goal with my build.
I was way more into trying to slap together a Slavic DMR sort of setup, or a 54r analogue to the G3SG/1 where it's more of a sniperized battle rifle than anything else.
I'm a fairly tall guy, and all of the more AK-oriented furniture doesn't really do it for me in terms of getting a good jaw-wield with my PO since most of the stocks are too short and don't have enough of a cheekpiece for me.
I wish someone did a nice G3 or sig-style composite stock that's long enough for my frame and had an adjustable cheekpiece. A thicker Vepr-style pistol grip would also be nice.
I also really like how the more rounded pommel on the later Vepr foregrip feels in hand, better than any custom AR-style foregrip that I've played with, for sure.
>got a Pyramag to go with my Pyramid WASR
>locks up even tighter than my tight-fitting Russian, have to literally hammer it out with the back end of my multitool
I should just keep a file on hand whenever I get new 7.62 mags at this rate.
>>33554239
Do your measurements. Measure again. Drill one hole. Rivet. Drill the other hole rivet.
>>33554383
Weird, none of my Egyptian mags are tight. They all lock up great with little wobble
>>33554430
It still looks up tight with little wobble now that I filed it, but holy shit did it lock down hard when I first put it in.
PMag, Koreamag, and one of my two Russians were all fine from the start. The other Russian I had to file down a lot more than this one, but it never locked up as tightly as this one either.
I checked my mag release lever and everything seems fine there aside from a slight burr I filed at a tiny bit (made no difference), so I'm not sure what's up.
>>33554315
How do you make friends in Russia to buy mags from? Go to a Russian gun board or something?
>>33554430
How many Egyptian mags do you have?
>>33554293
No.
Look at Atlantic's WBP DIY, if you want something to customize/build.

Or if you don't mind a nitrided US barrel, the Romy DIY.

>>33554487
Six. One quite used, two used but in pretty good shape, and three that were new in wrapper when I bought them
>>33554466
The only mags of mine I've had to file are the Polish refurbs I bought from Aim. They were super tight in both my 7.62x39 AKs
>>33554300
You have accessory fever.
Do some reading on black horse arsenal.
>>33554580
You've also got an Intrac, while mine is a beat-to-shit MISR S/A. Maadi might have changed the tolerances or just gotten sloppier than usual by 1999.
>>33554589
Is the MISR your only 7.62x39 AK? If not do they lock up fine in any other guns?
>>33554225
>>33554273
Do those 10rd mags actually work well? If so, it sure took long enough to get it right.
>>33554625
It is. My MISR was kind of an unplanned purchase, but I couldn't leave it on the rack at $399. I was planning to eventually buy a Tula kit and build it but this is a lot cheaper and I won't feel as bad about letting it get beat up.
Does anyone know where I can find 7.62 barrels that will fit a 74 styled front sight block? Particularly one that's 12.5" or shorter.
Or am I retarded and a 74 sight block will easily fit over the threading on a 7.62 barrel?
>>33554682
It'll fit
Who makes the best ak kits? Romanian, Bulgarian etc. also what else do I need beside a Press?
>>33554484
Kinda wondering this too
>>33553143
What type of irons are those? I've seen that once in a videogame before thought it was really weird I never seen that set up before it.
Why do you guys hate on AKs with US barrels, even if they are in spec hardness and are chromed or nitrided? Because they aren't original to the gun, so not as desirable?
>>33554844
Because they aren't inspec. They aren't proven.
>>33554635
Other than having to chamfer a non-structural edge of one of your bolt lugs if you have a newer Vepr, which takes 20 minutes or so with a file, they work great.
I've had far, far more feed issues with the stock mags than with my CS specs ones, which have more or less performed flawlessly. I'm probably going to order like 5 more in the future, they're THAT good.
>>33554853
How so? Not in spec hardness or what?
>>33554635
Also, the non-folder Vepr 12 just came back into stock on classic. I need a new HD scattergun, should I pull the trigger?
>>33554585
>Accessory fever
Nah, I'm more in the "I like it just the way it is, but I feel the need to justify keeping it mostly stock to folks that poo poo thumbhole stocks, hunting-oriented furniture, etc.
http://www.gunbroker.com/item/632304401
>>33554916
Glad to hear something actually works now. And steel looks better to me anyway.
>>33554926
Personally, I would.
I prefer having the fully functional stock for collector's sake, but it's borderline useless past saving some space because you have to baby from position to position 100%.
So not exactly useful like my main vehicle gun, webm related. I wish they'd be easy like this so I can just whip it out and be in business right away.
>>33555017
Yeah, I'd fomo harder about not getting the welded folder if A: the Vepr folder wasn't a complete piece of shit and B: I didn't live in a cuck state where folder shotguns are illegal.
I figure that if I really want a folder, I can always drill out the trunnion and install one that I actually like.
Anyone know where I can get some wood sets for a vepr with RPK rails? Everywhere I've found says I'd have to do some woodwork on it and I;m to inept for that.
>>33554499
I just want an AK that performs as well as my AR without costing $500 more.
>>33555216
If you want that ak in anything other than 762x39, you'll be spending a lot though. And in 762x39 specifically, ammo choice is very important to performance.
And I won't touch slant brakes personally after seeing what they've done to my shooting before and after removing them.
That was a vz2008, but that doesn't mean I'd allow them on any ak of mine either. I'd just get a muzzle nut or a regular brake/flash hider.
>>33555229
By "performs as well" I mean the rivets won't walk out within the first 2000 rounds, the trunnion isn't cast potmetal, and the sight's aren't canted.
>>33555241
Factory built imported aks shouldn't have that happen anyway. A good cugir built wasr should suite you just fine.
But like I said, I'd trash that slant and put a muzzle nut or something else on.
>>33554499
>No.
Explain your reasoning.
>>33554499
What makes the PSA's not worth it?
>>33555320
>>33555330
The double handguard retainer cuts, cast parts touted as forged, trying to walk back that fact, and just shaky credibility all around.
Don't take my word for it though.
Do a little digging, and find what people who bought them have to say.
All I'm saying is, Caveat Emptor.
>>33553143
>yes
What is this buttstock called?
>>33555444
Cut
>>33555201
>Anyone know where I can get some wood sets for a vepr with RPK rails?
Wat.
So you want wood with rails?
Or RPK furniture for a vepr?
>>33555426
Settle down chief.
>>33555455
sorry I typed that wrong. RPK furn for a vepr.
>>33555444
A Tabuk cutout would be the best description.
Ironwood Designs sells it.
There's also a guy on the Files who will do the cutout to a supplied stock.
>>33555465
What Vepr?
Sporter?
Vepr 12?
>>33555444
Tabuk style, based on the Iraqi Tabuk Yugo M70 based sniper rifle, Zrecto on Akfiles will cut out a stock for $65 if you send him one.
>>33555481
Thanks
>>33555496
>>33554922
Hardness. Stupid amounts of rounds through them. Melonite barrels aren't proven either.
posting bling
>>33555509
Ah. So you just want something like this then?
It's what I have on my vepr 12, and should just drop in.
It is made by a company named Izhevsk Masters, but seems to be OOS most places currently.
It isn't cheap either.
There's a guy on the Files offering it too, although it isn't labeled as being from Izhevsk Masters, it is.
Other than that, any RPK handguards will work.
Everything you find "might" need fitting, but most will pop right in.
>>33555593
Damn
Somebody actually got a kit from one of those decorative AKs
>>33555596
Thanks, I'll look into them.

Does anyone know where I can find a Yugoslav wars buttstock for an M70? Can you even still get them? I previously mentioned I ordered a set(from Apex) but it's only the hand guards and pistol grip.
>>33555647
I thought it was real. Why bother painting receiver stubs? He just wanted an excuse to buy gold spraypaint
>>33555733
They show up on files from time to time.
>>33555739
And here I am seriously planning getting my next milled pistol build done by these guys-
http://titaniumgun.com/coating-services/
Can i ask a quick question /akg/ We all know IOs Are garbage. But are CUGIR, PSAK47s, RAS47s, NPAPs and AMDs really that shitty? Do i really have to go Arsenal/SAIGA in order to get a decent AK? It'd just get shot once a month, and i have other guns for home defence/etc. I wanted to get one of those Zhukov Magpul style ones but the only ones i've seen are from PSA or CIA - therefore, apparently not very good quality. Do i have to spend $900+ in order to get anything decent?
>>33555823
CUGIRs and PAPs are milspec AKs built in the same factories with the same tooling as their military counterparts. They are great "budget" AKs.
Also >>33553145
>>33555823
You don't lurk or read at all before posting and asking redundant questions do you?
>>33555823
AMD's are fine if they are one of the good builds, and not the crap that you see clearview investments/classic trying to sell. older AMD builds are usually very good, especially ones from TGI or ones actually made by FEG. Cugir Romania is fine but the fit and finish is all over the place, century brand builds of any sort are shitty, with a few examples being serviceable, IE the Polish KBK milled builds, or the Yugo OPAP imports that are on reputable receivers. Builds from Atlantic are usually very nice, Arsenal Is a bit hit or miss the last couple years but generally overpriced compared to comparable quality competition. Saiga is usually good but can be similar to arsenal, I wouldnt buy one sight unseen. I sold my saiga due to cycling issues a year or so back, and build all my own these days...
>>33555557
Has literally no one ever tested them? Kind of a bummer. Was entertaining the idea of getting an AK which had one, but now I'm hesitant.
>>33555888
Combloc barrel is the best.
>checked
>>33555924
I had bought one AK already that had a nitrided barrel, built by DA. But now I'm worried and upset that I should have waited since they released the same rifle, but with original CHF CL barrel earlier this year; I bought my model overcast year ago... Feels bad senpai.
I already own an SKS. Should my next raifu be a normal WASR or should I get the short barrel underfolder?
>>33555982
Nitrided barrels aren't necessarily bad, it's just that there's no reason to get an AK with one as combloc barrels are better and easily available. When Daewoo had his Polish under folder kit built he bought a new production Polish barrel for fairly cheap and that will be a better barrel than a US made nitrided barrel for only a little bit more money
So bad news: Century turned down the threads on my Maadi to the point where it cannot be rethreaded. However, the gunsmith I talked to discussed the possibility of pinning and welding a slant brake on the gun instead with a small tac weld.
Has anyone ever done this with a undersized barrel? I can't really think of any downsides aside from being unable to easily swap muzzle devices (which I have no plans to do) and carbon building up around the outside of the barrel between it and the brake.
>>33555881
Cycling issues on a saiga??
I still own two, 1 in 5.45 and one in 7.62 and they never even thought about giving me a problem. Even the saiga 12 I sold never had issues with crap mags.
>>33556122
thats all up to what you prefer, but I like the normal
>>33556486
Just leave it bare, gas pressure will break the weld.
>>33553717
Clean it. Yesterday. But otherwise awesome
I never get home from work in time for the sun to be at a good enough angle for pictures when it actually decides to be sunny
Also something as simple as adding a proper Russian slant to the gun made me like it 100x more. My next buy is going to be a nicer crutch to replace this one then I'll sell this crutch
>>33556378
I would have bought the combo barreled model if they had it available at the time I bought the other one, but they only released it a few months ago I think, and I bought mine over a year ago. Think I could just buy a complicated barrel and have DA replace it?
>>33556669
Combo/ complicated=combloc because autocorrect doesn't like me.
>>33556669
I'd prefer a combo barrel over a complicated barrel any day of the week 2bh
Is my spring fucked? I cannot get it bent back around the hammer, the U parts won't sit in the groove in the hammer. Wat do?

The post office didn't say anything about certifying anything and I'm an actual autist so I didn't know anything about that when I sent it. What's my best course of action here? Confronting the guy about it on AKFiles? Or am I just doomed to wallow in my failure?
>>33557209
how can I get some of those sweet bakes?
pls respond, I'm trying to turn this poor wasr into something the motherland can be proud of
>>33557242
How much was the MO and what's the guy's feedback on akfiles
I've sent plenty of MO's in regular mail, but if the seller had no feedback then you played yourself. If it's already been cashed then you're fucked. You can report it as mail fraud, but you won't be getting your money back.
Question, did you send it to California?
>>33557242
You can confront him, but if he doesn't have much feedback he'll probably just stop using that account and make a new one to scam others.
Best you could do is get up with an admin and hope they get his IP, but that'd be easy as fuck to get around on his end anyway.
You're probably boned, but you learned a valuable lesson. Hopefully it wasn't too expensive.
>>33557268
>>33557288
No it was to Gilbert, AZ. Guy has like 136 positive feedback on the files, only 2 negative both from him being the buyer, thankfully I'm not that retarded. Money order was for $685 so nothing too big in the long run but I'm a poor college kid so feels bad

So if it was stolen and I'm not being scammed, I could technically get it refunded right? It says on the receipt that if it was lost or stolen to take it back for a refund.
I filled out the seller's information on the money order though so I don't think that's what happened, but I'm more retarded than Daewoo so who knows

Paid ok money to take the place of my battlefield dong...I'm probably going to sell my dongs. I love the idea. In practice they are useless for mag changes.

They should have cut the auto selector mark.
Plum is the best.

Looks really good, my friend was making some noise a while back about buying a Rus AKM from them, guess I'll tell him to do it.
>>33561066
Its a U.S Made one, The Barrel and the Receiver, are US made, because of 922r I believe.
>>33561075
I really wanted a folding stock on it. But I am probably just going to keep it how it is, maybe much later down the road I might have this gunsmith install and 5.5,mm trunnion in for me.

>>33561098
Looks like they fucked up the area around the rear trunnion rivet
>>33561121
Thank you for telling me, overall, the main question that I need answered, is am I fucked? Do I need to take it to a smith and get new trunnion installed?
>>33561156
Shoot it and see what happens, id imagine its got a warrenty.
>unfortunately you overpaid.
>>33561139
It's very common for receiver stubs to look exactly like that before they're demilled, nothing wrong with the receiver being warped a bit around the rivet
>>33553143

>I doubt you even own any guns, please go Reeee somewhere else.
Yeah, you know who doesn't own guns, let alone AK's? YOU. YOU DON'T.
>>33561510
No its a completely different trunion.
>>33561554
So i would have to buy an entirely new trunion? Those are around 200 bucks by themselves right?... Well I guess I might not turn it into a 74m down the line after all.
>>33561566
Basically need a new rifle, to clone a 74m you would need a sgl31 or a saiga sporter.
>>33561582
I know, to perfectly clone one. So installing a trunion won't fix it? Neither replacing handguards or anything? Just a new rifle essentially? This is all far down the line. I am thinking I might not even do it because I will probably keep the parts original.
>>33561613
Get a 4.5mm rear trunnion, triangle folder, and pretend like it's a transitional hodgepodge of parts.
>>33561530
This is some major league asshurt. Its a parts kit to a gun made in the millions, chill.
>Yeah, you know who doesn't own guns,

let alone AK's? YOU. YOU DON'T.
This is correct, I do not own an AK but if all goes well I will in a couple weeks
>>33553233
that picture makes me wonder what a Krink would look like with a full length AK's barrel, because the first thing I noticed is that the Krink has that long gimped barrel for legal purposes.
If you put a full length barrel on there, you'd have longer sight radius than normal AK.
Not saying you'd do it for any other reason than just shits and gigs, but I'm curious as to how it'd look.
>>33561613
Chill man, its a fantastic rifle and a very faithful rebuild of a Plum AK-74. As long as it runs well you've done well. Plum AK-74s are extremely commonly found in the Ukraine currently and your rifle is a great representation of them. Don't let these no-gunz autists get in your head. Enjoy it
>>33561657
Thanks man I appreciate it. You're right. I don't need the trouble of getting the folding stock. Now what ammo do should I shoot through it? I have about 200 round of red army standard. Is that good?
>>33561678
Red Army standard is perfectly fine ammo, but then again, with AKs just about everything is. Really just buy whatever is cheapest because if your gun was built well it should run just about anything.
>>33561635
Oh wow! Oh gun? Look at you. Plus you don't even OWN a single AK. This is half of my collection. Get fucked and I hope you buy some American made piece of shit that explodes in your face.

>>33561721
I know of one in colorado that can install one. I'm just gonna keep it how it is though
>>33561737

>>33561635
>Its a parts kit to a gun made in the millions, chill.
You know, that's the mindset that has resulted in us not being able to find dirt cheap and unmolested K98s or Enfields these days.
Russian kits - as in "demilled military rifles" - are expensive due to their rarity. They deserve a faithful reproduction build.

>>33561814
It really isn't. As mentioned, it definitely looks half assed. Lack of Y stamp is unfortunate but forgivable, but the selector markings should have, you know, selector notches to go with it.
I'm not saying every AK should be on a 74U LLC receiver, but that one just looks like someone went "throw some Russian letters on it, it'll be fine"
