What will be the next big technological leap in weapon technology?
A weapon to surpass Metal Gear
.280 Britbong.
Oh, wait....

polymer cased ammo
>>33551274
Air burst grenade launchers employed more widely
SDB-II with loiter and independent targeting
stealthy drones/planes that can tag stuff, vidya game style, and share that with artillery/tanks/infantry/glide bombs awaiting orders
Arsenal planes loaded with drone clouds
Weapons that can induce local EMP bursts to kill comms and probably cheap drone swarms
Torpedos that can be deployed as mines anchored to the sea floor, which then launch when given orders (note these already exist, but havent been used to my knowledge)
Hi-Point tanks.
Easier, cheaper, lighter recoil mitigation systems
A polymer- like casing that isn't shit
Better bullpup designs
G11 like pulse firing caseless ammunition using small arms/ artillery
>>33551274
caseless

Oh and i forgot, the SDB-II or other similar drone in a ground vehicle launched configuration that can do what its air-launched brothers can, giving infantry a rapid air-support option they can take with them anywhere a truck can go.

Used as in sunk a ship or used as in deployed, because the Mark 60 CAPTOR is the US' primary antisubmarine mine.

I'm too lazy to explain why each is good or bad so I'll go by number top down.
1. Sure.
2. Why not.
3. Maybe, some of that already implemented.
4. Don't forget helicopters.
5. Jammers are a thing
6. Submarines have a purpose.
>>33551274
Laser?
>>33551274
better materials and propellant.
>>33551482
Ive never heard of it being used in wartime is what i meant, i imagine theres quite a bit they have done to improve the design since it was introduced
Widespread polymer body armour to reduce weight and possibly be buoyant for amphibious operations.
Plastic cases for rounds for reduced weight.
Wider spread helmet mounted thermal vision.
Better batteries, eventual exoskeletons.
Eventual battle robots.

PC culture dying and a first world army finally grows some balls and puts infantry and other combat corps on 2mL of Test E a week.
Removal of all PC culture from first world armies

this. for simply a control standpoint
Definitely orbital moon rock strikes
