This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Canada, Khardzhit Sadzhan, Ukrinform agency reports.

The opening of the arms market will be the next step in the development of cooperation in the defense sphere between Canada and Ukraine. "The relations between Canada and Ukraine are unique, the signing of the agreement in the field of defense will allow us to have much more substantive and substantive discussions on different topics, so the introduction of Ukraine into the Automatic Country Checklist On firearms will be the next step, "Sajan said.

Why would this be a problem? It's not like they would be used against Russian tanks because there are totally no Russian tanks fighting in Eastern Ukraine. :^)

Also I really don't know what Canada could give them in regards to lethal weapons. Maybe the TOW or ERYX.

In the beginning of the War Canada gave them satellite photos however that really pissed off the Russians because that allowed the Ukrainian to blow up Russian ammo depots and staging areas in Eastern Ukraine. That program only lasted a few months because of Russian pressure. There were also some bureaucratic Issues with Obama. However, I think they might have continued to prove them with photography.

Maybe night vision, thermals, training, body armor and medical supplies but besides that the Canadians can't really provide all that much.

The ERYX might be the best option in terms of lethal weaponry. It's being withdrawn from the Canadian army, it's light weight, would cost next to nothing to give the, and they have the numbers.

I'm fairly sure we don't use Eryx, and we barely have TOWs for ourselves. They only just recently got them from storage.

It could be building additional LAV 6s for them, or alternatively pawning of the shit thats too old for even us to use (Leo 1s and Coyotes - as they get phased out). Alternatively, selling them TAPVs which is the Coyote replacement.

Ukraine doesn't need armored personnel carriers. They have enough BMPs and BTRs even they lost hundreds of them. They also have ever increasing production lines of armored vehicles although most of those get sent away as export.

There were reports that their ATGMs were ineffective against the Russian tanks because of active and passive protection. The HEAT warhead's explosive was also decaying and wasn't producing the intended penetration. Luckily the Ukrainians are making their own ATGMs that I think are beam riding. They can't be jammed but they might be detectable with laser warning systems (I think). But these are not that common.

Personally, I support the right of the people of Donbass to separate from Ukraine if they see fit. Ukraine is a seriously corrupt state and I can see why they would want out. I'm more concerned about the Russian posturing in the region, honestly, because the precedent being set by their activities in Crimea and the minimal Western response to those activities presents a potential threat to the sovereignty of other countries in the region, especially the Baltic states (who seem pretty content doing their own thing).

NATO won't expand to UA until waaay later, but Ukraine is a good place for the EU to exand to. It has fairly good tech, large labor force and a low income.

Well the most likely scenario now is going to be a state of limbo for DPK and LPR anyways. Both sides have lost too much to end the conflict but would risk just as much to continue it. They'll most likely get the Georgia treatment of still being part of Ukraine but not really.

Canada and other western countries influencing the Ukies wouldn't be a bad thing if you consider they'll try to de-corrupt the festering cyst that is Ukrainian politics.

I don't think they'll be part of the EU for a while, but a free trade agreement and increased integration wouldn't be a bad thing.

>>33540182
>Ukrainian prairie population goes full ragemode and starts lynching Russians and going full Azov on em

>>
>>33544329
I do know that both DPR and LPR have already turned down an offer of "part of Ukraine but not really"
Last I checked, the people of the DPR are tired of war, but still will not give up to Ukraine.

Althought desu, I wouldn't want Trudeau or any of the EU fat cats to influence my own country if I was in their situation. US is debatable on that.
>>
>>33543563
>Russia gives outdated and used equipment to army of roughly 30,000
The thing is that the US is not arming a puppet group of terrorists and thugs in the process of annexing a part of russia.
Ukraine is currently in a situation where russia is occupying their territory.
>>
>>33544546
Eh, im not a globalist shill, though how is Ukraine going to improve itself with regards to corruption?

If countries engage in a equal basis with Ukraine I see no issue with that, Canada doesn't have the power to come to exert their wills over Ukraine, instead as a partner Canada can help get rid of corruption, train the/with Ukrainian Armed Forces and capitalize on the growing relationship by having both sides win.

However, if the ECB and Germany gets involved then i'd be weary, Germans don't have the ties or perception necessary to treat the Ukies fairly.

did google translate screw up? ;)

Jokes aside, is there a logical fallacy with having one argument? Yes its the biggest argument, but does that mean that its a bad argument?
>>
>>33544600
You make valid points, and I tell ya what, you're the most pleasant person I've debated with over this issue.
Cleaning up the corruption in Ukraine would be great, the people of Ukraine desperately need it.
Regardless, it seems the people of Novorussia want nothing more to do with Ukraine, corrupt or not.
>>
>>33544624
You also make a valid point of one argument not necessarily a bad thing
but in this case, such argument is wrong. But unfortunately, due to the nature of politics and arguments, it seems most people have their minds set on something and there's nothing that can be done to change their minds.
And that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
To you, my opinion is incorrect. To me, your opinion is incorrect.
>>
THEY MOVED THEIR BORDERS *HOW* CLOSE TO OUR TANKS?
>>
>>33544646
Well the issue is that Russia would be playing with fire in the international arena if they choose to bring in both regions.

The international community is focused on Syria, and tensions are already high over the supposed (hasn't been proven which side used/had) chemical weapons attack in Syria.

Perceptions about Russia is already bad with its neighbors and potential competitors, so I can't see Russia acquiring the territories any time soon. So for the time being they won't risk even worse relations which is why DNR and LPR will be in a state of limbo for the time being. Even if they don't want to be part of the Ukraine, they won't be part of Russia and in that they will still technically exist as part of Ukraine in the eyes of the international community.

>>33544686
fair fair. I'll accept that.
>>
Yeah Russia is in a bit of a spot
I do recall there being talk in the DPR about assimilating into Russia, all this I had heard from those native to the DPR, not Russians.
You know, that is concerning, if the DPR actually does want to become part of Russia, and the world sees it as Russia forcefully taking over the area could bring bad times.
