i'm making a video game, i think the FAL is a pretty aesthetic rifle and i was probably going to have it be the default gun for now. the SVT 40 was a close contender but the. what are some other extremely aesthetic rifles?

i was eventually go the metro route and have mechanically bizzare makeshift firearms but normal guns will still be present.

I don't mean to be rude but wouldn't having a whole bananza of weaponry from fucking everywhere of varying rarities kind of not fit a metro pretense or style? It's best to offer weapons that are known to be used often and are plentiful in a given region. For example, you'll never see an L85 or Famas turn up in America and you would be hard pressed to find an FAL or AUG in Russia.

I'm not OP, but I thought of making an Indie game that's one of those survival games, only shit that disappears or goes missing in history winds up in the open world

Also money isn't a big part of my ideas for me. Like, my movie, I expect to not make anything but I just want it to exist as a film because the idea deserves to be.

Id over saturate the game with gear and weapon combination to the point where itd be rare for plays to have the same look and load out.
Itd appeal to anyone from fudds to operators to cowboys to samurai weebs and everything in between.
And then itd need modding for the community and open suggestions.
The sound department would be tricky because if you make it too realistic with guns youll have arma there where all guns sound like TIKTIKTIKTIK and i hate that i honestly find exaggerated stylized sounds better especially the pffft suppessor sound lol

THIS! im tired of every game i play having firearms that sound like weak airsoft, or not having any reports, cracks, snaps, or whipping noises as a bullet flies past you. Being in a gunfight is terrifing goddamnit, and I want the sounds to reflect the sheer chaos terror and urgency of being caught in a 2 way gunrange.

So much more unique and cool looking than your bog standard M4.
If I was making a game, I'd fit something like this in. Gotta have those DMRs. Maybe spruce it up a bit, like the guns out of Wolfenstein, you know how overbuilt they look.
It would also be cool to see the return of early 2000s reload animations where ten different bits of the gun move and give off steam when you reload. Not every gun, of course, but having guns that do that and are well enough designed to seem that they actually need to do that would be cool.

The one time I saw it ever actually happen was in a really big gaming community. A pretty well-known player was asking one day about great guitar-heavy songs. Stuff that really showcased the guitar. Said it was for a game idea. Hundreds of people posted that kind of stuff.

A year or two later, the first Guitar Hero came out. That player was asked later and would neither confirm nor deny that he was part of the team that made it.

I think you're on the ball for most of the factions, but for the anarchists, 3D printed guns just aren't really a viable thing right now. If it's set in the future, yeah, you could give them some greebled out 3D gats, that'd be pretty cool. Not now, though. Pic related, Canik.

The reason why the basement-dwellers would have 3d-printed guns is because the setting sacrifices some realism in favor of conspiracy theories and paranoia, so while IRL very few 3d printed guns are shootable at all, these guys have the secrets to some metaplastics that can handle the tolerances of bullet-firing

Every now and then, somebody posts on /k/ saying that they're going to make a video game and they want advice on what guns characters should have. Nothing ever comes out of this though. "What guns should a SWAT team in the 1970's be using?" Never hear about it again. "I'm making a game about a police detective, what gun should he use, realistically?" Never hear about it again.

Since we're taking about game ideas, I've been dreaming of what would basically be MGS 5 if it were in an active warzone. Imagine a big map set in 60s-80s Africa, with you playing as the Boss or equivalent. Factions duke it out at their borders, with everything happening naturally as the game progresses (you could just sit there and watch a strategic battle happen). You could do a lot just gathering intel and raising hell behind the lines, but you'd better hope nobody attacks while you're away.
