So here's the thing.

Suppress everything. Mostly pistol caliber subsonic or subsonic rifle calibers. A few longer range weapons for 2 sniper spotter teams.

Operate mostly under cover of night, nvgs for all of us.

Through reconnaissance we figure out which tribes hold the land closest to the resource, destabilize and or annihilate those tribes. Ensure that remaining local forces either know better than to or would not want to return to the area.

OP did not say that the locals want or care about said target resource.

Quiet and mysterious spookiness is key to dealing with savages. They only have limited means of communications which means their tactics cannot be changed quickly or dynamically, while ours can. You out flank and out maneuver them while striking often and early. Hit and run tactics will make them nervous and less organized.

Assassinate their leaders, burn their resources, force them away from the target resource by making it difficult to live near it.

Lay mines on the most viable foot routes to the target resource.

Also, tell the guy in the black suit that he can double the operational budget because we're saving the fucking world.

>Overall, turn the whole island into a wasteland and just wait for them to die

>Weld up a shitty armored vehicle with huge extended gas tank
>Drive to the resource, using guns to keep natives scared and running from it
>Pick it up and drive back

Now, this whole scenario is pretty implausible. $50,000 is exactly one dollar per enemy native--that's barely enough for ammunition and gear if you're going to just fight it out, even if you could 360 noscope each one with one bullet apiece.

Also, a handful of sarin shells would be the obvious solution.

thats why IRL well planned arson would be the most effective way to purge the island. A couple of small insertion teams able to plant firebombs at key locations to torch the whole damn island and block off natural choke points to keep the locals in the flames.

That's the best way to purge it with no chemical weapons available, but I think the armored vehicle would work better for just obtaining the resource. You'd only have to massacre one mob of natives, they'd probably run from the vehicle after that

If this resource is concentrated in one place, then yeah, a bunch of armored technicals, or even a battle bus would do. But if the resoucre is scattered around the island, you need to take over the whole place, at which point a scorched earth tactic is more viable.

I'm pretty confident that if a giant, noisy, impervious metal beast showed up and started crawling around the island, and the first mob or two of natives to attack it were massacred by full retard gunfire, they'd attribute some kind of demonic status to it and run away from it wherever it went, so you could probably travel the island pretty freely as long as you had gas.
