very few people who play squad play as a squad, even less people know how to lead a squad. i have 300 hours in, and have never had a squad leader set up 360 security when we get to an objective or assign people to an entrance. playing as a squad leader is like herding cats. don't go into this game expecting anything from the dudes you're playing with and drink lots of beer, then it's fun.

No, if I were to pick the most /k/ game out of Arma series, it would be Arma 2 + OA. Arma 3 is shit when it comes to weapon simulation.

Arma 2 had it so much better. But even then, it was far from ideal.

I would very much like to play battlefield one Back to basics mode (where you don't choose your weapon, everybody gets the weapon that said faction had during the war) but nobody plays it on PC.

I picked up Playerunknown's Battlegrounds.

Horrendously inaccurate and sporterized, but it's a ton of fun. They really need a better weapons consultant. Here's the SKS.

I'm waiting for it to get patched into something with decent weapons.

ArmA3 made significant improvements in smoothness of player movement and, most importantly for someone with rural Oregon potato-net, streamlined their net code. Desync in ArmA2 was absolutely nuts. And if you wanted to load 50+ people into a server for a PvP? Forget about it.

Arma 2 versions of many mods were clunky and not all the great simply because of how poorly Arma 2 ran. I can't speak for their Arma 3 counterparts.

Due to the huge popularity of arma 2 dayz mod and arma 3s dayz and battle royale mods. Some developers said why don't we just make a standalone game instead. Problem is they're all shit so far and the mods are superior. Battlegrounds actually looks okay for now.

Gmod apparently has a metro Last light roleplay server now, doesn't seem that bad and I'm 45 minutes in, enjoying it. Whitelist ingame for classes you join. Addons take a bit to download though
