What does /k/ think of modern revolvers?
>>
I think they're like modern lever actions. Nobody that knows anything thinks they are still technically relevant but they sure are fun.

You still get those idiots that think they make better defensive weapons than modern automatics for any number of reasons like mechanical simplicity or my personal favorite, "all's they gotta do is grab the slide on that thing and you're fucked"
>>
>>33530167
They make good sci fi guns, that one was in ghost in the shell btw

>>
>>33530595
How salty was the fudd that made that picture?
>>
>>33530595
would a 44mag levergun with 24+in barrel and tube been a better gun for ww1 than the various bolt action rifles?
>>
>>33530673
No, severely underpowered round, very hard to reload compared with the clips of the bolt actions, extremely complicated to clean and very easy to get it wrong on reassembly.
It's a reason why even USA has never used one for its armed forces.
>>
>>33530715
B-but lots of trenches were less than 100m apart and many were withing grenade throwing distances?
>>
>>33530571

Fuck, I hate the new GITS and I haven't even seen it. It's supposed to be a Mateba Unica.
>>
>>33530439
This.

Revolvers can be fun, and they have an advantage if there's a misfire.

But a good semi-auto is far more tolerant of abuse than a revolver. I recommend semi-autos to anyone seriously interested in carrying or defense.
>>
>>33530728
And that has absolutely nothing to do with what kind of rifle are you using.
>>
>>33530728
you're still better off with a 30cal bolt-action. this isn't the wild west, son, there's a lot more that factors into the choice of standard issue rifle during wartime than just ease of cycling the action. all the reasons >>33530715
described are far more important than just the speed of the action. have you ever taken apart a .44 lever action rifle? ever clean one? and once you're out of ammo, are you gonna feel comfortable sitting in your trench, loading round after individual fucking round, praying to god you don't get your head blown off by a kraut who just had to slap a new clip in his fucking gewehr and is happily firing 3 inches over your goddamn helmet..
plus after a few months of training you learn to cycle that bolt like your life fucking depends on it. and when your life actually does fucking depend on it, the time difference between a lever action and a bolt cycling is pretty negligible.
>>
>>33530167
No point. Besides aesthetics.
>>
>>33530167
I own one. Fun range toy. Feels good to shoot. Weird looking enough that friends/people are intrigued by it if you want to show it off. I'd reckon the snub version would work okay as a carry if you want a revolver for that for some reason. listened to too much steve miller maybe.
>>
When did the rhino get railzzz?

I definitely remember it being blocky with a rounded bottom
>>
>>33530167
Anyone tried a rhino?

I kinda want one but spending an amount equivalent to a week worth of paycheck isn't something I'd take willy nilly

6 inch version has rails on top and bottom.
4-5 inch versions have rails on bottom.
snub has no rails.

I mean, I know why, but ffs would it kill them to make it less obvious?

Modern revolvers can't be imported.

Colt even killed their best model to stagnate the market
>>
>>33530167
>>33531021
Can you swap out the grips on these? Those things are ugly.
>>
>>33531164
This. It's fucking painful to look at.
>>

It's a gun ofcourse you can.

Damn, that would've been a fun gun to mess around with.
>>
>>33530736
that's the point m8. and new version of the story features a new version of the old revolver design
>>
Good enough for future detectives in the cyberfuture/10
>>
>>33531234
The reason why we're all in this thread is because of GITS
>>
>>33531277
well then don't mind me posting a non-revolver
>>
>>33530885
I own a 50DS. The lack of muzzle flip is amazing. It's easy to stay on target while popping off rapid fire.
>>33531221
I will pay you for one. Got an email I can throw money at you over?
>>
>>33530736
It was awful... been a GITS fan for a long time and holy dicks it sucked ass... I was so disappointed
>>
>>33530892
except when you open the lever all the internals are exposed... I know Forgotten Weapons did a mud test and it worked alright, but the action was closed when it hit the mud.
>>
>>33531021
are they really? I want one but no ranges have one I can try before I buy
>>
>>33530736
Also they replaced seburo pistols with glocks.
And rifles with tavors or some shit.
0/5 won't watch
>>
>>33530892
The best mud test gun too

>>
>>33531719
You would never have the action open in a situation where you dropped it though? When and why would that happen?
>>

>>

>>
>>33531820
White master race it is
>>
>>33531862
Don't really know what being a fag has to do with being white but sure sounds great.
>>
I'm looking to get a top-break revolver to mess around with, what's gud?
>>
>>33532039
Well there's nothing new. Your main option is a Webley, with a select few s&ws from the same era.

Iver Johnson is probably the cheapest option but they're not terribly well made
>>
>>33532374
Enfield revolvers are also a good way to go, but best bet for a plinker would be one of those .22lr top breaks from the 70's
>>
>>33530571
They also use it in the expanse
>>
>>33532039
Iver Johnson's are cheap, but the parts are basically drying up and are a pain in the ass to reassemble, plus they were already cheap-o guns from back in the day.

You can try the Uberti Schofield if you want a modern materialed top-break. They're fun to shoot, but funner to reload.
>>
>>33530167
All the cool ones either aren't for sale or are really expensive
>No Rex
>no Mateba Unica 6
>no Mateba 2006m

Sucks, at least Chiappa exists
>>
>>33531719
And tell me whats gonna happen to a bolt action if the mud gets in the action you fucking mong
>>
>>33532479
but what if you stopped dropping your firearms?
>>
>>33530791
The only army in WW1 to utilize lever guns was Imperial Russia, due to the fact they could not make enough moist nuggets.

They used the Winchester 1895. "Kaptbilly" has one. The Russians had it chambered in 7.62x54R

158KB, 800x800px
>>33530167
Obviously doesn't matter what all these /k/ucks think. When things like the LCR are beloved and well carried, the 442 continues to warm pockets across the states, and we have a regular revolver thread on this board drooling over Manhurins and Korths and 8 shot 357 magnums.

Revolvers have some major upsides over semi autos and some major downsides. All firearms are a compromise. 911 was an inside job. Hail Satan.

pretty cool. hoping to pick something chambered in 9mm and .45acp to match my two .40s.
>>
>>33535244
if you think that looks bad, you shouldn't watch the movie
>>
>>33531699
I came in with low expectations and came out happy. Same thing with Power Rangers
>>
>>33532600
My Uncle has a .38 Special Schofield and it is such a dream to shoot. Smooth handling and very pleasant recoil, wonderful handgun to fool around with.
>>

all the prop stills look pretty terrible, but they look great in the movie
