its sighted in but i think maybe i didnt tighten up the mount enough. Then again, I was having a really hard time keeping the crosshairs lined up the whole time so i think its probably just me being really terrible at shooting.

it's a normal DPMS AR, they shouldnt be that inaccurate shot to shot at 100 yards, should they? I'm new to the platform, is there anything i have to do differently in regards to shooting form as opposed to fuddguns? i used to be pretty accurate with a levergat a few years back.

do i just suck?

25, 50 and 100(max for my range). Benched and standing both supported and offhand.
Prone on cold concrete covered with brass is uncomfortable and I don't have a mat, don't really know why I don't do kneeling/sitting.

Tbh I've never really cared for precision shooting or long range anyway and don't have a pistol or a place to do the dynamic/tactical shooting and drills which interests me.

If the rifle is properly sighted in, you should be on paper.
With a scoped high end AR 1 inch groups all day sitting rested.

how do i sight in a rifle without a proper rest? the ones at my range dont fit my AR (it falls over and has to be held, negating the purpose of a rifle rest)

no i ran a threading tap down about a third of the barrel, from the muzzle. I ran a custom one sized to fit on my ramrod that a friend lended to me. He did it on his AR and said it helps the cheaper 55 grain bullets be more accurate because they spin faster. I thought changing the rifling was normal?

The mount could be loose op. It's worth checking, just don't overtighten it. Your rifle should shoot 1.5-2.5 moa at that distance, even with crap ammo.

You'll need a steady rest to check your zero. Sand bags are awesome. You can use any old canvass bag and tie it off or pick up something at the store.

Try moving the target in closer to check your zero too. Start at 25 yards, then move out from there once you're shooting a good group.

okay!!! How should I tighen my mount without overtightening it? should i use something like a small torque wrench or should i just do what "feels tight"?

I have a range with steel torso targets at 50,100,150,and 300. At the moment I only have iron sights so I only care about hitting the target. 300 is a hit and miss with my ak.

First scope?
First ar?

I had my first scope on my first ar and couldn't hit shit. I was so down on myself until 1 day it finally clicked. I even pulled off my scope and bought flip ups. When I learned those were dialed in and accurate af was when I put my scope back on and i was able to get it dialed in. It was seriously off by a few goddamn feet at 50 yards. Does your range offer a scope sighting in service? I thought about it, but was too goddamn stubborn.

Can't hit a target at 100 yards?
Suddenly I'm a lot more afraid of civilians with guns.

I had only ever user pellet rifles at 10m before that and was very proud of myself for being able to use a real gun, I remember. That was also the moment I knew I loved guns. I mean, I knew beforehand that I liked them. But this was the moment I knew I LOVED them.
TLDR, if you seriously can't hit a target at 100m, go get your fundamentals right.
