i hardly see how this would work in USA if everyone just assault you with a gun or in shithole place like south america or UK where everyone carry a machete.
if you had a tactical pen in civilian job and area i don't see where you'd carry that except your breast pocket if you where working in a suit. (who carry pens in their pants)
not to mention you'd still have to know how to fight except stabbing someone with just a metal pen and scream "I'M USING SELF DEFENSE BY STABBING THIS MAN", i've seen people just fight with a plain regular bic lighter in hand as improvised knuckles, anything in hand is a weapon so don't fall for that shit

those of us who are supervisors that work in the plant

This. Part of the point of fist loads is that they are unassuming. A lathed aluminum meme pen with TACTICAL DEFENSE OPERATORS LLC etched on the side isn't very low key. Even a fucking pocket knife has a direct utility use.
The old school way is
>Roll of quarters
>Crown bolt
>Lighter
>Spark plug
>Little copper or brass slug you can toss after use
Pop it in your dominant hand, it puts your knuckles in line with your wrist, you beat the shit out of a guy, looks like you fought him bare handed and/or "he starts swinging at me and I had X in my pocket and defended myself"
If it actually looked like a classy brass or silver finished commemorative pen (made out of D2) it would be different.

It's an Irish/mechanic thing actually. Mainly from before dc vs Heller and McDonald vs Chicago struck down handgun bans in shithole cities and the dark ages before comprehensive self defense and stand your ground laws.

If you're in a situation where a gun is no longer accessible then you fucked up
