How do I make my possum trap more successful?
It's in the chicken run (where a possum killed my hens) with a can of tuna and some cat food in it.

Trapping doesn't fall under the ATF, yet.

IDK if this answers your question but this dude showcases a bunch of traps, some of which I think can help take care of your possum problem.

Oh hey ATF, good to see you're still checking in.

I'm using a havahart trap
OP HERE
should I replace the bait every night??
Does nobody know a thing or two about trapping?
I'd put the trap outside the chicken pen, you don't want the chickens triggering it. Use rotten eggs and past blue ribbon for bait.

I might know a thing or two

Aniseed oil on a slice of bread works too. I'm surprised the tuna isn't working though.
Did somebody say trapping?

fucking hell

You could line it with electric fencing for at night. Should keep them out and they will go to the traps instead. Look into it.

I'm sorry about your hens OP, but are you *sure* it was a possum...?

I used a big ass Victor rat trap-- the kind with the spring loaded U shaped bar-- and tied it to a stake in the ground. A couple times it didn't kill them, just held them in the trap, and I had to bash them with a length of pipe a couple times. Fucking things are nasty and mean.
Just put a new can of tuna in the trap

I don't understand - why does a possum want to wear a dress?
