Too long. Shorten it up, to 32mms or so, and it can still push 115 grain hollow points at high enough velocities.

Straighten out the case of the 7.62 x 39 to somewhere near western levels.

cast a 9mm carttridge shaped bronze blank, hollow out the back leaving a bit for the primer, hollow out enough for a +P loading (going to lose a bit of weight have to get some power back) Watch hoop strength limits and make sure the powder is fast burning.

You now have 9mm caseless along the lines of a Volcanic round. It can be loaded and fired in a normal 9mm if the extractor is replaced with a blank. But the interesting part comes when the ejection port was deleted, making things like an inverted hammer or simplified breech lock possible.
