You can't talk sense to old people. They think they know everything.

.45 AARP is old antiquated shit.

.45 is a caliber that shoots things

Ahh, yes the age of a bullet determines lethality.
Since that's the case 9mm is 4 years less lethal than .45

9mm has been updated multiple times. There's been a resurgence of innovation in 9mm bullet designs over the past 20 years. .45 has stagnated because old guns cannot properly feed modern bullets and newer .45 guns don't sell well.

That's the problem. But I guess your brain is too old to understand something like this, gramps.

Clutch to that 1911... and take your ovaltine.

Ahhhh children living in their fantasy world's. Now son I need to explain something to you. John Wick is a fictional character played by an actor running around shooting blanks. He never shot anyone. Got that? It ain't real boy!!

Personally I find 1911 highly ergonomic. Plus in .45 ACP it is an excellent tool for practicing recoil control. Not my primary pistol, but I like to shoot with it every now then.
>>
>>33519819
I paid $523 for my RIA 1911A1 (plus $150 for all the bureaucratic garbage Maryland has, but that's a different story) as my first handgun. Because of Maryland's Black Gun Ban, the added mag capacity of FNXs or USPs would be for naught, plus the 1911 is a bit thinner, and is better suited for people who might not have hands large enough for a full sized double stack .45. Just my two cents, though.

>browning hi power(the non retarded thing the 1911 was supposed to be)

The BHP that exists today is almost nothing like JMB's original design for it, and was mostly designed to avoid 1911 patents and meet arbitrary French military requirements. (like the retarded mag safety)
>>

I could lose three fingers and still fire a Glock support-hand only without limp wristing it.
Manual safeties aren't necessary if you follow the basic rules of gun safety.
The other points are so deep in the spectrum I'm catching the tism just thinking about them.

Yeah, I'm sure you could lose 3 fingers, fumble your blood soaked pistol to your other hand, and fire it flawlessly while Jamal is trying to gut you like a fish.

>Manual safeties aren't necessary if you follow the basic rules of gun safety.
Safeties aren't just there for your trigger finger, you know.

>calling owners of a firearm that's been around for over a century retarded because of a macro image
OP is a retarded fag.
>>
>muh metal

Protip, given equal maintenance schedules a Glock will outlast a 1911 in the same caliber

Brittle crystalline structure of high stress part (frame) metal will lead to cracking, whereas a flex in polymer frame and elastic deformation will prolong life

Polygonal Glock barrel will also last through higher volume of fire than cut rifling of 1911

Prime example

>Glock 20 nearly 25 years of reliable service
>Delta """Elite""" relegated to .40SW loads in 10mm case duty as a result of cracked slides and frames with 1911 platform unsuited to 10mm component stress

Low pressure cartridges (I.E. .45 ACP) lend themselves well to full steel firearms or alloy frame adaptations like 1911/LW 1911/CZ97 etc.

Higher pressure cartridges with lighter bullets (I.E. 9x19) are a-ok in steel frames with lighter bullets generating less stressful recoil impulses

Polymer frames can be adapted for both, and do well as duty guns outlasting practical life of most ownership cycles. they may lose certain characteristics with regards to recoil or grip sizing while providing longer lifespans, both can be overcome with various design aspects (slimmer double stacks) or recoil systems like USP buffer, different RSA configurations etc.

Both have their place but with regards to concealed carry or defensive roles as insinuated by OP polymer frames in general are superior within that context
>>
The .45 ACP is a low-pressure cartridge. Huge cartridge, not so huge power. When loaded to the same pressure as 9mm (.460 Rowland), it reaches .44 Mag levels of energy
>>
>m- muh capacity

I own two 1911s because I can afford range toys that others consider outdated. Also, I don't live in niggerville so my primary reason for owning firearms is for fun, not to protect me and my property so capacity has no bearing on my purchasing process.

Im curious if you have a source for well maintained glocks outlasting well maintained 1911s. I here slide failures are very common in glocks north of 100,000 rounds whereas it is almost unheard of with 45acp 1911s. furthermore 1911s almost never break frames under normal use(excluding manufacturer defect) and can typically last north of 200,000 rounds with some parts replacements.

I love my colts and I love the 1911 platform in general, but these goddamned redneck fudd fucking fan boys need to stop. Outside my shooting group and close friends, I almost never mention owning them. And it's mostly because you can't mention the 1911 without someone spouting the same tired bumper sticker memes/slogans.

You could be stranded alone on a desert island and say "1911" and I guarantee you that some fucking hillbilly will pop up and say " hurr cause they don't make a .46." Or some other dumbass saying.

Owning both a USPc in 9mm maymay and a .45acp 1911 perhaps i can enlighten you a little my under brucke dwelling friend. Or perhaps not, but observers may be swayed. It is not as if my time is of particular value anyways.

For somebody such as myself who has big hands and a thumbs high grip the 1911 is significantly more comfortable under fire than a USP. There's no fuck off huge slide release or seemingly almost out of place safety/decocker(too low) to dance around while trying to find what feels like a good amount of real estate for recoil control. The thumb safety on a 1911 is so perfectly placed, and quick to disengage while easily being ridden for extra recoil control that it has become my favorite safety of any firearm. My particular 1911 has been both 100% reliable and noticeably more accurate in my hands than my USP(9s are prone to limp wristing fyi), particularly so with small targets or at a distance. Mostly i attribute this to the trigger and stock sights on each. Frankly a straight pull trigger with short travel just makes my life easier by reducing the time and proclivity by finger has for not pulling back quite perfectly straight. The sights are novaks which are very easy to pick up, large, and let in plenty of light on both sides of the front sight when aligned. Also they're set for a 6 o'clock hold which i find much more conducive for precision than the 12 0'clock hold of the USP. split times and double taps are slightly slower with the 1911 as one one expect.

When it comes down to it, I know that with an equal amount of training ill be quicker and more accurate putting out that all important 1st shot with my 1911 than my uspc. I've come to realize that the only way id be better served with the usp for carry would be if i ended up in some sort of wild west shoot out or engaging multiple attackers without time to reload.

Your responsible for every round you send down range, missing multiple shots is an inexcusable act of negligence towards those around you. I find it interesting the way that many people will decry 1911 owners for their willingness to carry a more accurate and less girthy firearm that is more comfortable under fire due to its lower capacity, but carry single stack compacts themselves routinely due to them being more comfortable on the hip while offering none of the 1911s benefits but not feeling particularly under gunned while doing so.

At the end of the day I think im better off being able to reliably put 1-2 rounds in a bad guys heart or no response zone than 2-3 in his "upper chest" or "head" out to 15-20yrds. particularly when that first shots gonna be quicker and surer.
