Hey /k/, so for a while I was set on the idea of getting a 9mm shield for my first carry gun (though not my first pistol, I have an XD-40) though as I got to thinking, I thought I'd be better with it if it was more gun to shoot, so I thought up a Sig P239. Does anyone have one of these? Thoughts on it? Additionally thoughts on getting it in .40 because I already have .40 dies, and it's only 3oz lighter than my low recoil XD?

If you are thinking about a single stack I have had a much better experience with the Walther PPS over the shield. My EDC is a USP Compact in 9mm. I've had a lot of guns but this one has personally been the best to me.
I've heard great things about the P239. I've owned a number of Sigs and only had one negative experience (I think I got a lemon P226). That being said my nightstand gun is a P320 full-size in 357 Sig.
I personally like 9mm over 40 for capacity but its your call. I only have 9mm and 357 Sig. 9mm is common but 357 Sig is always around even when panic buying happens.
Makarovs?
For a single stack 9 I carry an XDs, fucking love that gun.

>8+1 of 9mm
lol, you are better off going with a P938 with extendo with just one less cap at like half the size and weight.
Or, you know, G43 like a bawsss

Makarovs are good guns, but lack of good 9x18 hollow points leaves you with FMJ.

>thinking there is something wrong with FMJ in 9x18 snakarov
I bet you think 32ACP is crap because there are no jhp for that either.
One very sad reality I forgot to mention.
>California
Unfortunately no 938's for me

Fellow California here. Have a I love my p239. A little heavy but fantastic build quality and accurate as he'll.

Seems to be a match.

How's the trigger? That's one of the reasons I'm looking at it, and what about the sights?
>>33520099
Sites and trigger are both typical of sigs. Nothing amazing but workable. I like sigs contrast sites though. The trigger has been soothing out since I bought it. But it's still heavy and has a long reset.
>>33520728
Soothing out something akin to breaking it in?
Also do you ever use the decocker? It's not why I want the sig, but because it is there I might as well consider it's existence
>>33521195
The only real point of the decocker is to drop the hammer safely when you want to carry it with one in the chamber. So yes I use it.
And yes the triggers smoother as its broken in. Of course that only goes so far. You can always get a SRT kit to fix it up a bit.

You ever wish you had a 20 oz carry piece instead?
>>33521674
The weight doesn't bother me. It's really a matter of preference. I nearly bought a shield also. My hands are big and I couldn't get a good grip on it. I didn't like the manual safely. And I wasn't accurate with it.
The 239 alleviates the issues I had with the shield. Is it bigger and heavier? Absolutely. But not enough to bother me so I chose it instead.
The P239 is an excellent ccw gun but be aware of a few things about it
>it's the size of a Glock 19, a gun that holds 15+1 9mm
>P239 holds 8+1 for 9mm and 7+1 for .40S&W
>weight of a P239 loaded is a bit more than a loaded Glock 19
You really must ask yourself why you would want a P239. Now, it is a great gun and I love my P226 but for a DA/SA 9mm, there are better options.
Unless you like the manual of arms of the classic P-Series of pistols, do not get the P239. As for the sights, completely disregard stock sights that also include 3-dot night sights. They aren't worth a crap and you should switch them out for Dawsons or Ameriglos anyways.
If you do want a very soft shooting DA/SA gun that handles .40 well, go for it. If you do carry the P239, it is imperative to carry at the least 2 reloads and get comfortable reloading quickly.

Honestly I didn't quite like the feel of the glocks, that and Kahr struck a bad chord with me, they kinda felt like on the cheap side. Which they absolutely are comparing to a sig, but nonetheless strange
>>33519166
I love the p938 runs awesome.
>>33522525
Can't get them in cali though. Not on the roster.
You could always get a p238. But it's 380 auto so you're gonna lose some energy. Plus it's only 6+1 with flush mags.
My mom has one. It's a fun gun to shoot. But I wouldn't carry it. Feels like shooting a 22.
I carry a VP9, it's a little big but I am very proficient with it and all around the firearm. My night stand gun is a Glock 17. I prefer quantity over conceal ability. It's cold where I live so duty size and full size year around except for a few weeks late in the day in summer.
