Been wanting an ak for a long time now and have been looking at the really nice rifles by arsenal. I was thinking about getting this:

http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=2213&virtuemart_category_id=23&Itemid=765

What do you guys think? What would you recommend as a first ak? 7.62 or 5.45, doesn't really matter to me as I've shot both and don't mind if the ak is either or. What are the best ak's for the money? Is the SLR-104 a bad choice as a first ak? Post some recommendations and I'll take a look, would be really appreciated.

SLRs are going to be one of the best AKs you can get. Most people will suggest to get a WASR-10 as your first, but you cannot go wrong with Vepr, SGL, or SLRs.

I was reading about the quality of arsenal rifles. Even though they are about a grand each, I think it would be a good investment, I just wanted to hear what /k/ thought before i bought one.

If there are other aks with similar quality at same or lower/high price I'm more than willing to listen.

Ah cool, thanks anon. I'll give it a read.

What's up with people hating century arms? Do they really just make bad products? Well i guess most of their stuff are imports so they don't make them I guess, but aren't some of the guns they sell made by CA?

Also the guide says not to buy DDI(us made), which of their stuff is us made or imported? Will it say? I always thought DDI stuff was pretty good.
>>
>>33518261
Geat rifle from what I've heard and /akg/ will fondle your balls if ya get it.
>>
>>33518423
DDI dropped the ball hard recently and a poor QC. Century has had issues with barrels and construction, so it's really best if they just got everything as parts and they didn't manufacture anything. Their fuck ups on Tantals is a pretty much a well known example of how much they fucked up.

Comes down to 'buy once, cry once.' If you want a beater, a century WASR-10 is perfect. If you want something that'll last and be reliable, you'll have to go with SGL, SLR, Vepr, or converted Saigas.

This a good price for a wasr-10?

Christ alive, every day with the "what carry gun/ak/ar/first gun/dragon dildo should I buy"

the sad thing is I still read them because they're more likely to have actual gun discussion in them than the average /k/ thread
>>
>>33518632
With everything it comes with, buy it.
>>
>>33520018
I'd point him to /akg/, but that place is for masturbating over bakelite and plum magazines, and posting the same AK pictures.

As far as generals go, they're tame, but all he needed was that buyer's guide from there.
>>
>>33518423

The only thing I'd buy from Century is the M92 PAP or the M70. Truly fantastic rifles with great QC. Granted, there are lemons out there but far fewer than Romanian dogshit.

They're just overbuilt AK's. Everything about them is thicker/stronger.

Are you me?

PSA gen2 PSAK's are AKOU approved and can be had for not a lot of dosh.

Arsenal is totally overrated. A Saiga or VEPR is a good choice. Avoid Century like the plague.
>>
What's the story on nitrided barrels? Are they durable enough for SHTF purposes?
>>
>>33521647
salt bath nitriding is just about the best finish youre gonna get on a steel part. so yes to your hypothetical shtf
>>
This is going to sound really autistic.

Will it fit a bayonet just off the rack? Not op
>>
>>33521714
I do believe that arsenals do have both the bayo and accessory lug, no idea if different combloc countries had different bayonet mounts though, so you'll likely want to stick to Bulgarian

wouldn't be surprised if kvar sold new production bayonets that fit perfectly
