>Turning Point: Fall of Liberty
I haven't laid eyes on that game in years... and I still feel fucking disappointment. I bought it NEW when it came out, and 3 days later returned it. Thankfully got a bit of a refund but sadly had to pay $15 for the experience. Very interesting idea in theory, but utterly buttfucked in practice. Piece of shit. Awesome cover, and it was about the only awesome quality of the game. I probably only bought two games brand new after that. CoD: Black Ops (only because my friends kept pestering me about Nazi zombies. To be fair, it was fun), and Skyrim. I ended up not liking Skyrim as much as Oblivion so it was pretty much a disappointment, and I got it for 360 instead of computer so I couldn't even mod it so it was doubly disappointing.

Isn't it nice when your rifle doubles as an engagement ring?... she still hasn't called back... I miss her...
>>33518181
A lot of games did that because they couldn't mimic the way that small apertures "open up" when you look through them, so the sight picture was shitty and nobody liked the gun.
See: the Brush Gun from Fallout: NV. The rear aperture is sized correctly, but you can't see shit downrange.
Come to think on it, all the advantages that apertures have over a notch IRL can't really exist in video games.
>>33518337
They can now with better resolutions and slightly harder work making gun models. Give it like five years tops and I assume most simulator games will do it as standard.
>>33518337
I recall in CoD4:MW, they TRIED to give the rear aperture a blurred effect when aiming with it, if memory serves. It's been years, maybe a decade, since I played it so I might be mistaken, but ultimately yeah it was still very obnoxious. In real life when using an aperture sight you focus on the front sight or the target, preferably the front sight for maximum potential accuracy, and so the rear sight blurs. With videogames GENERALLY everything is in focus, though I recall the PS2 game Black (if I recall it correctly) which had the very cool mechanic where when you reload, the whole screen goes blurry except for your firearm animation. This is to mimic how when you reload, you focus on what you're doing instead of what's going on around you. Yeah, yeah, you can probably just practice, practice, practice until it's all in muscle memory and you can do it literally blindfolded but in high-stress situations I dare say most anyone is focused entirely on what they're doing.
>>33518704
Fucking DERP! They tried to give the rear aperture of the M14 a blurred effect. Forgot to even specify what firearm I was talking about. Sorry about that.
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT
>>33518337
It's not difficult to apply a blur effect on just the rear sight but very few actually bother to do it. No more taxing than the usual screen DOF.
>>33518181
Came here to post about this, but was actually wondering if theres a place to buy garand ghost rings. I only use mine for 3 gun, and i hate the tiny aperture. I do much better with my AR because the rear sight is way more open.

Most of the starter guns are damn good. The 9A-91 is beastly.
>>33518932
It was a god damned killing MACHINE in bad company 2. It had absolutely no bullet drop, an obscenely fast projectile compared to all the other guns that weren't snipers, and retained so much damage at range. My favorite was to stick it on the medic and just park my ass on a medkit. Blasting everything that moved in the open and popping snipers like watuhmelons

Like 75% of the work of domination was camping center point. Another 20% was the sick ass chopper pilot and gunner raining hot death on everything that crawled out from under a rock. 4.9% was operators operating on opforative opderptators. .1% was aforementioned melons having their brain cases ventilated by the ping machine.

The multi flag, non linear, objective camping game mode that every other game calls domination. It's been a little while since I've played a battlefield game, sorry I forgot the jargon.
>>33519343
Conquest requires you to move around or you'll lose.
>>33518828
How to properly pull it off is to make the edges of the ring semi transparent when ADS. So you get a larger aperture for a sight picture when you look through it. The rings on the Garand are thin enough that they should basically disappear .

I just couldn't get a feel for them at first. The Garand really gave me a good handle on the game, first one I got a Platinum Service Star on.
I remember the MG3 was fucking amazing though. Used to roll in a squad of three with my buddies and shred people.
>>33519324
Yeah the sight base is much too large it seems. Really fun mod though, might have to reinstall.
