Actually not the reason; Romania went kind of rogue after the '68 WP intervention against the Czechs. Ceaucescu said fuck you USSR for meddling in other sovereign countries internal affairs via a huge speech that was televised, so basically Romania was the black sheep of the WP. Word has it that the soviets contemplated the thought of invading them too and replacing Ceaucescu, but China and Romania had a very good relationship and the Chinese told the soviets to stop fucking about

Bulgarfag reporting in. It's a shame we basically have no standing army to speak of these days. There is a lot of potential in young men here, but it's being wasted on degenerate culture.
If NATO disintegrates or we get kicked out we're basically up for grabs by Turkey or Russia. Not to mention we're not even spending the required amount of money on defense to qualify for NATO membership, but most of those funds are being drained and stolen by corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. Dire fucking shit, boys.
We just had a referendum to kick out the standing government that has basically been in power the last 10 years in one shape or another and they just got elected again due to mass illiteracy and/or voter fraud. The proud Balkan lion weeps...

The best yeast to make yogurt is found in Bulgaria and is named Lactobacilicum Bulgaricum and it's one of the most prideful things for Bulgarians because our country is literally garbage and has contributed very little significant things to the world.

Makes sense to test them and not soldiers with rifles in their hand since the risk that your body armor get captured by americans is incredibly low and you will have alot of chances to see how the body armor works in the field since american planes are in the sky 24/7.

>>33524172
I can't differentiate between different T-72 variants.
>>33524216
They had the T-72M export version with slightly less armor. Made in the USSR, Poland, and Czechoslovakia.
Only NVA modifications I know of were that they added more smoke launchers on the turret and opted for the rubber sideskirts. Any baseline T-72s they had were eventually brought up to the same standard as their T-72M.
>>33515378
ossies are still fresh even after WW2
>>33524276
Did they actually get T-72M1s, or did they do their own upgrades that ended up equating to it?
I've seen some claim the NVA has T-72M1 and other saying they did not.
Even though the differences between the two seem to be very negligible overall.
>>33524289
It can be difficult. The differences are usually minor or unseen from the outside (Stuff like internal systems or armor composition).

It brought their tanks to the T-72A protection level. The T-72M1 was frontally immune in a 60 degree arc to 105mm guns past 500m. It certainly was a big deal.

No. Soldiers called them szelki-dusicielki (suspenders-stranglers) for a reason.
You can't even lock the pouches in one place, they move about freely and if you take of the belt, everything falls off.
But, to be perfectly fair, there is a theory that Soviets kept us backwards in terms of tech, because they ware afraid to allow us to have more modern stuff.
Don't know if it's true, but the Czechoslovaks and Eastern Germans had more modern equipment.
>>33527826
>a theory that Soviets kept us backwards in terms of tech
The Soviets gave Poland licenses for the production of their most modern tanks and MANPADS, and I doubt that the warpac webbing choices were regulated by the Soviets.
>>33527826
The Russians wanted all members to have similar gear.
All Warsaw members had that same style of "slide-on" webbing, some like the East Germans just made them a bit better than others.
They all are still pretty terrible in comparison to some of the Western ones.
Was stuff like uniforms, webbing, etc. left up to individual nations. East Germany had their own stuff but the less wealthy members probably just got Soviet surplus.
Of course, their weapons and vehicles should have all been interchangeable...aside from those weirdo Czechs.

Thanks you guys. I really wasn't expecting replies like that. It truly is a magical place.
Dutchbro, if you visit Sunny Beach or one of the other summer resorts buy your booze from the stores, bars serve absolute garbage and overcharge 10 fold. In general our resorts are kinda cheap for Western standards, but to be honest Greece is way nicer for the summer - better beaches, better food and real booze. The downside is Greek women are disgusting and super high maintenance.
On the other hand if you visit Sofia or one of the other larger cities there is plenty of shit to do, it's even cheaper than the sea side and the night life is pretty bangin. Downside is no sea and occasionally the architecture is pretty ugly.

this is kinda a late answer
soviet surplus was a thing in the 50s, especially since the USSSR had plenty of tanks it was replacing and it was also giving away early jets like Yak 23
Czechoslovakia and Polanda license produced a lot of heavy equipment tanksand aircraft and had their own APC designs
Hungary made it's own armored recon car the FUG
Bulgaria build it's own IFVs based on the MTLB/Gvozdika chassis
Romania was a more interesting affair, especially after 1968. They produced BTR-60/70/80 and BMP-1 under license but with Sagem engines. They buiult their own versionof the T-55 but with diffenrent running gear and with a engine copying the one on the Leopard 1
The built french helicopters, the Alouette and Puma and designed an attack plane with Yugoslavia. Also built thier own APC for mountain troops and an BRDM-2 analogue (the TABC-79). Soviet equipment was bought only in small quantities (lack of funds was a cause, but also lack of trust in the USSR), but it was also one of the first foreign customers for the T-72 (and sold one to China) and Kilo submarine
Also in the 70s Romania started using a helmet modeled on it's WW2 one
