You're not emotionally invested in random gore it's just a video or a picture, that's why it's amusing when kids think watching gore videos online and not reacting makes them hard in any way whatsoever.

I would actually argue it makes you weaker, makes you think you can handle the real thing but then you get the flood of adrenaline and emotion and you're surprised by your reaction rather than expecting the unexpected.
