Here's what I don't get. It was apparently called the "schnellflugzeug" (fast aircraft), but I don't see why it would be any faster than a regular turbojet. Was it just a codename to conceal the true purpose of the aircraft?

Even for the 1940s though, they already had some early jet fighters which would probably be more deserving of the term, wouldn't there be a considerable loss of efficiency in using a jet turbine to drive a vertical propeller, then vector the downdraft backwards, as compared to just using a jet engine for thrust directly?
