Not entirely true, but close.

The S&W 442 and 642 (airweight centennial frame guns) are both available in the -1 variant (no lock). The 340 can also be had without a lock as well (scandium centennial .357MAG).

Coincidentally, one of those three revolvers is basically the only J-frame anybody should buy. Sucks about the others though. You can disable the lock and plug the hole fairly easily but the scar is still there.

Dan Wesson, Ruger, older Smiths and Colts. Smith & Wesson still makes good revolvers, but with the QC issues that have come up, I always look them over really carefully.
