I'm a Eurofag who only has air-soft weapons and even those I only get a chance to fire every other weekend. I try to satisfy my fascinations for weapons through vidya gaems but most of them have disturbingly fake shooting mechanics. What are some games where the shooting is done moderately well? Bonus points if it contains real-world weaponry (even if it goes by some other name).

As an AR owner I can say that Insurgency captures the sound and feel of shooting an AR better than any game I've ever played. I'm sure you can mod ARMA 2 or 3 to hell and back to get an even better experience, but out of the box Arma feels like airshit and as you can see I'm playing on a fucking toaster, so Insurgency is a good recommendation.

The country where gypsies and blacks get into gun fights in plain daylight with illegal guns, where's daily shootings and all armed robberies with real machine guns, but everyone acts as if the gun laws work perfectly when you need to go through a ton of shit just to own a double barrel shotgun legally.

Man what a nice country with such shit gun laws.

oh I didnt even notice.
Not a single one of them anchors classicly correctly.

first is way to low and 2 fingers above the arrow one under.
2nd has her front arm a little bent and pulls to her ear
3rd hasnt completly drawn
4th also bent arm
5th acctually looks good if she has a kisser
the last 2 are aiming much higher then the others

But they even have mathching outfits.

My best guess is that its a trip of working colegues and they just pose for a picture.

>>wind doesn't exist
I'm sure there are mods to add this in
>>end game sniper rifles are still horribly horribly inaccurate
You don't understand how the game calculates shot trajectory and/or you're being screwed by subsonic rounds
>>no difference in accuracy between standing, kneeling, or prone/no options for using support
That's completely wrong. A bipod mounting system would be cool, but again mods can likely add that in
>>everything has the trajectory of a spitball, even with the svd-s anything beyond ~200m requires shooting dozens of meters high
The bullet physics were modeled after real-world performances of the guns used, just highly exaggerated. If the area of the Zone were accurate in size then the bullet physics would be more accurate to match.

>>33509106
I wish they would go back to the old style of Tom Clancy games, but it's ok
Playing it as I type.
The game designers clearly didn't understand how reloading guns works as you can't MAG + 1 any weapon, and you charge the weapon even after a reload with one in the chamber.

Still, neat you can dress up in rl gear.
>>
>>33510565
At the highest difficulty they are pretty damn spongy. Like 2 to 3 headshots to kill bandits even with shit like the as val or groza. This is true in vanilla and zrp, and orders of magnitude worse with misery.

Call of Pripyat with Misery and The Armed Zone mods. I seriously could not tell you how many times I've gotten drunk playing that game. Literally, I think it's over 100. The amount of shots I've had while playing MUST be over 1000. Unironically over 3L of liquor have gone down my throat while playing Call of Pripyat. I started over something like 7-8 times or so simply because I wanted to collect all them firearms all over again. Here's the firearms I typically end up sticking with...

>5.45x39
AK-74 (Standard model)

>5.56x45
AK-74M rechambered to 5.56 (Basically, an AK-101
Sig 550 (Modernized I think, or Customized. Can't remember; been a while)
M4A1 (Sometimes, only on the rare occasion, just to mix it up.)

>7.62x39
AKM (Customized. You know exactly where I get it...
SKS-45 (Just the wooden stock one, but I hate that there's that stupid tape on it...)

>9x39
AS Val (Duh)

>7.62x54r
M91/30 (The one you start out with as Sniper class)
SVD-63 (Alternative. Meaning the one with iron sights. I basically use it like an SVT-40)

>7.62 Nato
L1A1

>8mm
Kar98k
STG-44 (VERY rare that I use it. So fucking heavy.)

>12 Gauge
Saiga 12k (VERY rare that I use it; I'm not all that into shotguns)

>9x18
TT33
PPSh-41

>9x19
Hi Power (Alternative, I think. Or the original. Can't remember)
MP5A3 (Doesn't really matter as long as it's no the (Worn) one)

>.357 Magnum
M1 Carbine (I alter the code so it fires this instead of 7.62 Nato)
REX Revolver (Can't remember proper name, M417 or something? Basically use it like a Webley)

>.45 ACP
M1911 (Stainless one, though might be two-tone since an update a while back)
HK UMP (Modern one I think)
M1A1 Thompson (Just for fun sometimes even though it's heavy as shit)

I never leave home base (whichever of the three sections of the map I might be in) without carrying at least ONE firearm I have personally owned before, and I only ever carry one primary firearm with either one pistol or two pistols as secondary (almost always just one)
>>
>>33510839
Yeah, Halo 2 you practically had to have it up the target's ass to kill them in one shot.

>>33510881
Oh yeah, and about changing the code, I always do a fuckton more as well. Speed up how fast you can shoot with the TT-33 and SKS-45 so it's properly semi-auto (about 250-300 RPM at least. 5 shots per second in semi-auto isn't too hard with a good trigger and a good finger), I even speed up the Mosin and Mauser firing rates even though I can't speed up the animation, I make the PPSh-41 a bit more accurate, the MP5 a bit less accurate (still more accurate than PPSh-41), and might also increase the AKM's accuracy/damage a bit, but I try to keep everything within the realm of realism.

AR-180 If i'm right.

>>33510904
If I'm not mistaken, I think the higher-quality versions of the MP5A3 are more accurate than the lower-quality versions of the AKM, maybe the average-quality AKM matches the high-quality MP5A3, and that just seems fucked up. 123gr going 2350 ft/s being less accurate than about the same weight of bullet going almost half as slow, not to mention spitzer vs round-nosed? Yeah, no, fuck that. But the MP5 is closed-bolt while the PPSh-41 is open-bolt so even though the PPSh-41 wins in muzzle velocity in its original 7.62x25, I doubt it can be as accurate as the MP5.

Oh yeah, and then there's that FAR-15 fuckin' bullshit things. SUPER high damage with a REALLY short barrel and VERY low weight coupled with INCREDIBLE accuracy as well as having a permanent silencer/suppressor? I crank the accuracy down below the M4A1, along with the damage, I think I might also increase the weight a little bit to make it more legit, and just in general I nerf the fuck out of that thing. as for the M1 Carbine, that needs a big overhaul, not to mention it ruins the M21 a little but I'm cool with that; never use it. Heavily reduce recoil, heavily reduce damage (I do these for both M1 and M21, basically the M21 SORT of becomes a scoped M1 Carbine I think), and so on. I think what I try to compare it to is to make it a bit higher in damage/accuracy than the best MP5A3, but lower in damage/accuracy than a standard AKM. I do lots of cross-referencing to other firearms so that they're all in line with what I think would be realistic.

So obviously the M4A1 is a jam-o-matic by the time I'm done.

>Joking, /k/. Just joking. Also, yes, I might be autistic.

You can take it back

But the slower fire rate makes the Type 100 sweet as a nut
>>
>>33511490
Yeah, the slower firing rate makes it just about 100% controllable, and the adjustable sights make it easier to try plinking at 100-200m if you want. The sights are indeed a bit obnoxious in how they cover up so much of what you're trying to aim at, but being able to have a bayonet on your SMG is a novel idea, after all SMGs are pretty much meant to be used at fairly short distance. Can't exactly reach out and touch something at 500m or 1km with one unless you're perhaps Hickok45 though then it would have to be in his typical pistol-sniping format, complete with chuckles.

The biggest crime about Killing Floor 2 besides the CSGO style marketplace is that it got rid of the light hearted cockney British slang and humor.

AS-VAL fires those subsonic rounds though. Gotta use AP rounds man.
Or git gud with something not silenced - the Sig550 is a tack driver and does good damage even without a scope.

Also, learn to let time pass between shots at long distance. The shot accuracy timer is the biggest annoyance in the game.

Seriously, your time is better spent playing videogames that are actually good. In my opinion, videogames in it of themselves are pretty much a waste of fucking time, at least play one that is good if you insist.

Socom 1 & 2 are also pretty dope.

The guns in BF1 are incredibly rare, many of them only in the prototype stage at some point during the tail end of the war. While this does show a high level of research it is wasted to give an accurate depiction of the first world war.

Even some of the rare guns produced before the war only saw limited use and were nowhere as common as BF1 would have you think. Usually said guns - in particular the semi-automatics - would face issues with jamming in muddy conditions.

Guns that could reasonably be said to be in a first world war trench have a much higher rate of fire in BF1 than is reasonable, for example I have seen gameplay footage with the Gewehr 1888 shooting practically one shot a second. While drills like the 'Mad Minute' were a thing, it is a stretch to expect such a high rate of fire consistently.

All in all BF1 takes a lot of things that might perhaps be could have been, I will repeat that
might
perhaps be
could have been, things that are incredibly unlikely to happen and make them the norm in their first world war game, the effect of this is obvious, it makes their game a fast-paced first person shooter similar to the modern shooters but is in no way an accurate depiction of what the first world war was.

And no, I am not saying that a first world war shooter needs to be about sitting in a trench for days without seeing the enemy, but something like Verdun is far closer to realism than BF1. BF1 is often compared to Verdun for that reason (like I just did), but as Verdun makes an attempt, but the attempt is still far from realistic.

IMFDB has a good list of the guns and lampshades some of the obscurities but most obscurities only become evident when you research the individual guns.

Habe you messed around in arma 3's shooting range? Its interesting to see what projectiles do to certain things.
Lioe you can see the bullet paths and stuff, they are even able to capture a handgun round being deflected slightly by an angled glass windshield on a car and stuff.
I wouldn't call arma "airshit" at all, infact insurgency is much more airshit than any other game. Its not like people die in a single shot like in insurgency (or airshit) in real life.

>>
>>33517483
>one shot kills

>>
>>33517483
This. I basically can't play a FPS unless it has bullet drop, bullet travel, realistic selection of firearms for the time period, realistic recoil, and generally one-shot kill if the hit is center-mass, ESPECIALLY with a rifle round. Also preferably an inventory system that takes into account weight, and if it's a sandbox style FPS then I'll want a hunting mechanic, eating (and perhaps drinking) mechanic, and so on. Sleeping mechanic would be nice too.

I loved TES III Oblivion on the XBOX 360, no clue how many hours I played on it, but when I discovered modding via computer gaming and managed to get eating/drinking/sleeping as well as fatigue loss when sprinting, it became a whole new game for me. It basically became my ideal sandbox fantasy game. I don't like Skyrim as much, and I don't think even with a wide variety of mods to improve realism that I'd like it as much as Oblivion. It's just so beautiful.

My ideal post-apocalyptic style survival horror FPS would be STALKER: Call of Pripyat with Misery and The Armed Zone mods. For a WWII FPS, Red Orchestra II and Rising Storm (even though Rising Storm is a little less realistic). I also realize that CoP is not post-apoc, but it does have that kind of feel where it's a dog-eat-dog world and technology is more-or-less gone.

It's the closest you can come to going to a shooting range, without actually going to a shooting range. I mean, you have to load up your magazines yourself, you have to learn how the firearm functions, if you make a stupid mistake like not chambering a round or if you try to shoot an M1911 while it's not cocked then you won't get very far. After you get through the steep learning curve though, once you've gotten your muscle memory built up and you get in that intense situation where you have to make a fast reload under stress while running, when you do it successfully, manage to stay alive, and take out the thing that's trying to kill you... it feels so fucking satisfying. How did I have the controls set up... they might be altered (probably) or they might be standard controls, I don't know.

Q is the mag release or cylinder release button
If you have a mag in your other hand, pressing Q again will drop it
Q might also be the button for using the ejection rod on the cylinder to remove the empty casings
E inserts a round in the mag if you holster your pistol first
E inserts the mag in the pistol if you have the pistol unholstered
E inserts a cartridge in the cylinder if you have the cylinder open on your revolver
R racks the slide
R removes a round from the mag if you holster your pistol (you only have 2 hands)
R manipulates the ejector rod on the cylinder? (Can't remember)
F cocks the hammer on the M1911
F manipulates the fire select switch on the Glock 17 that's converted to Glock 18?
Holding F, pulling the trigger, letting go of the trigger, and releasing F, decocks the M1911 or revolver I think
V might be the slide-stop
V might be the ejection rod on the cylinder (can't remember, it probably is)
V might be the fire select switch on the Glock (It's been a while since I played the game, sadly)
Hold V, press R, release R, and release V will lock the slide back (if V is indeed the slide-stop)

You can do almost any IRL handgun manipulation in the game.

call me crazy but I actually like that feature in games. it simulates your character having to avert his vision to his reload instead of his surroundings. I know there are plenty of shooters both military and civilian in the world who can reload quickly without looking, but it's a good gameplay mechanic. it forces you to be more aware of when you can safely reload, since you can't reload and watch for targets at the same time.

>Rusty polymer
I remember in the original release of Misery, before they patched it, I couldn't get more than 100m away from the Skadovsk barely carrying anything before my character was exhausted. And then I starved to death 5 ingame hours after eating 2 cans of absurdly expensive tuna.
>>
>>33521087
>nigh-unkillable zombies with pinpoint accuracy
wut? Dude, just give me a basic AKs-74 and some dirt cheap 7N6 5.45, coupled with a silencer/suppressor. I'll be popping heads no problem, and they'll barely touch me. Utilise some cover, man, and work on your accuracy.

>Starving to death if you don't eat multiple times every day
This is a pretty fair point; I've woken up in the morning in the game with my hunger at red, and I think your health starts to deteriorate at that point. That's excessive, but still, you ought to be eating several times a day. If you only eat one meal a day for a long time during which you'll be doing LOADS of long-distance travel and heavy lifting, you'll be starving yourself.

>Weapons in shit condition
Give it time; it's not THAT hard to find firearms in repairable condition. Find stashes, get some repair/cleaning kits, and do the work yourself. Don't rely on Cardan for everything.

>Economy that is completely broken
You think it's easy getting things into The Zone? People are killed regularly, people are dying of malnutrition, of radiation poisoning, etc. If you want good stuff, it's not going to be cheap.

>>33521209
I'm starting to think you guys just suck at the game.
>>
>>33521436
Say what you want, but I distinctly remember how, when I played the first iteration of Misery, zombies seemed to shrug off multiple headshots before going down. I'd have a optic, and could watch tracers fly straight into their face, and they'd just flinch slightly and keep shambling
>Shit condition weapons
I maintain that virtually every weapon found being broken is fucking stupid, and repairing anything is no easier considering how useless the kits are and the fact that paying for it is ludicrously expensive
>Economy
It's not like it's even just good stuff that's hard to get. There is no way that even a basic, rusty AK should cost a shitton in a lawless wasteland in the Ukraine
>>
>>33510745

I wonder how much that is in dollars? Anyways, it doesn't matter, The Zone has its own needs and standards. Supply and demand are entirely different there. Personally, in the game, I typically sell the imported food, I hunt and cook the food I eat, and I wash it down with cheap zone-produced vodka to deal with the radiation. Every time I drink vodka in the game, I take a shot of liquor in real life. If I have no booze to drink IRL then THAT is when I'll drink imported stuff in the game so that I can save the in-game vodka for another time.

Medal of Honor Warfighter had GOAT-tier weapon models and attachments. But thats mainly it, since the game fucked up on release, maybe 1 or 2 servers on PC playing. Kinda sad because I loved the game.

Other than that, Arma I believe is pretty accurate, I guess. Ghost Recon: Wildlands isnt too bad, but still far off.

Wish Dice LA was given the opportunity to do a full out MoH game. Same customization as warfighter, just even more in depth. Very similar to real SOF's loadouts, new frostbite engine, get rid of killstreaks, larger maps with more freedom to move, yet focus on CQB and advancing from point to point.

Would make drinking booze to maintain your Sanity work better than the alcohol thinning your blood excuse.
>>
>>33523182
I just love to have good games to get drunk to, and I find Call of Pripyat with Misery and The Armed Zone mods to be outstandingly good. With The Armed Zone, you can also have your ammo counter removed, so it's up to YOU to keep track of how many rounds you have left, or more precisely, how many mags you have left. I try to get loadouts in which I have multiples of mag capacity so I can think of it as mags instead of as X-amount of ammo. I also regularly go around The Zone with a partial magazine so as to maintain my number of mags, generally using mags up until they're empty unless I'm in a very tough situation. Even then though, generally, if I have a 30-rnd mag then I won't reload until I have at least 9 or less rounds remaining. Also, yes, I count my rounds and it's VERY rare that I lose count.

I almost always fire in semi-auto unless I'm against an intense mutant that needs to be filled with jacketed lead in very short order, or if I'm using a PPSh-41. I typically keep that in full-auto and fire in short bursts.

the mod is literal shit that is popular because of its austimo marketing.
I'd rather play a slav mod like People Soup or even Reborn than that garbage

There was nothing wrong with misery and you're only saying that because it's an unpopular opinion. stop.

Far Cry 2 as well, with the right mods and while ignoring that the people who animated the guns are retarded,

Battlefield 4 did pretty well in the weapons department, fuckin' smooth-as-butter animations as well, really well made if you want a modern scene. Plus there's a lot of good, German servers.

Battlefield 1 if you want to be a special, diverse snowflake shooting experimental weapons at best, basically nonexistent at worst.

Though you can snipe Turks with a good old bolt action, so there's that.

What about the reload for the M1903A4 in Resident Evil 4? Just takes a clip, jams it almost sideways at the magazine, and somehow strips the clips off of it into the rifle. More like he's reloading an M1941 Johnson rather than an M1903A4.

If Gaben were skinny, I think he'd look like John Lennon.

The shooting in Hunter: Call of the Wild is pretty good.

Tracking animals innawoods is pretty great too.

Are you retarded?
KojiPro developed the FOX engine themselves, and as the head of KojiPro falling behind schedule and going over budget was entirely Kojima's fault.
It's true Konami was trying to divorce them the entire time, but Kojima is still at fault for completely failing to finish his game - and even had the game been finished the lack of promised content and all around poor execution would still be present.
I love MGSV and the FOX engine, but it's a big heap of missed potential.
