From the steampunk era, it's a "flechette-lock rifle-shotgun", or "rot-gut". My great-uncle used one of those back in France to ventilate a rather scurrilous pirate of the Moorish extraction in a back alley in the port town of Marseille. Said he went down quietly, but not painlessly. Damn fine little rooty tooty bang-tube shooty if you ask me.

>>33501555 (portentiously checked)

A fine piece of hardware, the Paddurday Night Special. Back in college my grandfather's roommate won one of those off of teddy roosevelt in a drunken game of strip poker, or as they called it, The Princeton Gamble. Times were different you see, men weren't so shy about each other. Also a damn fine gun.

>>33501628

AH, yes, finally, my very first gun as a boy. We called it the Negro-swifter-picker-upper-bounty-hunter. A slaves weapon if there ever was one, but a lark for a boy of ten if your family had the scratch. Yes, I had many a fine time playing Klansmen and Spearchuckers with my school chums in the backyard of the penny arcade. 22 is a fine caliber for practical jokes...those were the days...

.....And that's it! I highly recommend you guys go here if you ever get the chance. Its free admission, has thousands of guns on display, and has clockwork nightmares of gun design that you have to see to believe. Sorry I didn't take more pictures.

Did that wheel lock belong to Herman Goering or some other avid hunter Nazi?
Odd that it's placed on top of that flag.

Any idea if we can forward the museum to Ian so he can get in touch with them and possibly do some videos? I'm sure the museum would love the publicity, and Ian is very knowledgeable and respectful.
>>
>>33501966
What's that one in the back beside the water cooled gun?
>>
>>33501399
>>33501793
I think its a cut down New Model Revolving Rifle. Look at the trigger guard, it looks kluged as does the grip. There isn't any front sight either and it's comically huge. I don't think any big bore Root revolvers were made other than prototypes. That's my $.02.

Cool thread OP.

>>
>>33504679
idk but is that a dreyse?
>>
>>33504696

>>
>>33504679
more likely it's a compensator of some sort, since it's ported at the end. probably kills muzzle flash and reduces recoil, but I don't think it's a suppressor.
>>
>>33504679
>has been transformed into a signal gun

He can head over once he gets back from travelling abroad.

On a side note, I'm assuming he went with Karl. Any idea if his wife/gf/mistress/whatever also travels with him? She never shows up in any of his videos as far as I've seen, unless she's filming or something.
>>
>>33504679

Likewise portentiously checked. Blease keep going.

>>33504626
>>33504646
Nah, look at the grip at the bottom and the cooling fins on the barrel, it's a Hotchkiss M1914. The jap gun was a modified version of that gun though.

>>
>>33506326

No mess
>>
>>33506647
Exactly. Hammer gun is a weapon you "can't miss with", i.e. it has to hit something hard enough like skull bone to go off. I can't overpenetrate either.

These are two features you genuinely expect from a device for that particular purpose.

There are plenty of stories how a shooter missed and only hurted the animal, and all hell broke loose that instant.

There are also lot of stories how a bullet went through the animal skull, ricocheted from the stone floor of the cattle kitchen and hit someone, or something valuable or awkward like electrical wiring/transformer, or fire extinguisher, or fuel tank etc.
>>
>>33501382
Senior year of high school me and my dad took a road trip there. Great to miss school and be surrounded by guns. Only problem with the museum is basically any of the (relatively few) guns from the cold war were mislabeled. A Vz52 pistol labeled as a Vz53, Toms chambered in 7.62x25 labeled as 7.65, etch and I swear somewhere on a sign in that museum it said the AK47 was chambered in 7.62x54R. Sadly I lost my pictures when my old phone got destroyed or I'd post them

These types of guns usually provide the right off set and proper location for killing the animal. There is a science to it.
