I think its a cut down New Model Revolving Rifle. Look at the trigger guard, it looks kluged as does the grip. There isn't any front sight either and it's comically huge. I don't think any big bore Root revolvers were made other than prototypes. That's my $.02.

These are two features you genuinely expect from a device for that particular purpose.

Senior year of high school me and my dad took a road trip there. Great to miss school and be surrounded by guns. Only problem with the museum is basically any of the (relatively few) guns from the cold war were mislabeled. A Vz52 pistol labeled as a Vz53, Toms chambered in 7.62x25 labeled as 7.65, etch and I swear somewhere on a sign in that museum it said the AK47 was chambered in 7.62x54R.
