I'm trying to avoid troy, and with a rifle length gas block I'd assume you would want a 15" rail. But correct me if I'm wrong. So far the MidWest Industries 15" mlock and the AR Stoner mlock is the only reasonable options I've ch3ecked out.

If you wanted a dedicated rifle to shoot like 1000 yards maybe, but no one does that with 5.56. The muzzle velocity of a 24 vs an 18 is only like 100 FPS more if I recall right, little less with some loads little more with others

I'm trying to find a decent range in the same general area (east of DFW), any recommendations? There are some shooting clubs that make you dish out some big bucks for membership, but if they have a large range and allow FMJ I'm definitely willing to give them a shot.
