What state m8?
>>
i heard cops check on your guns to see if their in their safes, how often do they do this and do they ring you up beforehand?
>>
>>33492264
depends on State.

Generally the do this in all States and in most have no legal power to enter etc so its conducted on your goodwill as a fit and proper person.

Most of the time they phone ahead, if they just show up in most States you have no obligation to talk to them let alone let them in.

You also have no requirement to havr your guns in your safe when you are at home in possesion of them. I.E cleaning, taking photos etc.

Also if they show up and you have been drinking ask them to come back another time, people have been done for in possesion under influence when a cop has askd them to get a gun out during a inspection.

>>33492264
I had the local police ring me just before I left work. They asked when was a good time to come do a safe inspection in the next few days. I told them come around in about an hour when I'd be home from work.

Took about 5 minutes tops. They checked that the safe was securely mounted, then checked the serial numbers of the guns inside. Only one officer came into the house, the other kept the car running so pretty obvious they didn't plan on hanging around for long.
>>
>>33494145
Did you also get your penis inspected yearly by the school principal?

they do have the "right" to see your safe

so if you say sorry now's not a good time you have to schedule a later date.

if you get randomly pulled over by the police and they check ur name on their computer and see you have a gun license and they ask for it, you must be able to provide it. if you cannot you have 48 hours to take your license to the police station to show them.

shit's fucked m8.

What does it cost to get your license in QLD?
What are the background/mental checks like?
>>
>>33494929

Someone have the Image that explains it all?

Basically

>Fill out application form with reason why you need a gun
>Go do a firearm safety course
>Take all that to the cop shop
>Submit paperwork
>Wait
>Pay for fees
>>
>>33494929
It sort of depends on where you live and how fuckey your police are.
The process is usually some variation of applying, sitting a safety course, installing a safe and getting permission to shoot on some land (either private property or government land/hunting reserve etc.). It's really not hard, but some places make it a lot of waiting.

When I lived in Western Australia, the process to obtain a single bolt-action centerfire rifle took close to a year. That was ridiculous, the police wanted written letters justifying why I needed a centerfire rifle. I needed 3 land owners to sign for me and the police were extremely anal about what sort of gun I planned on buying. Monthly safe inspections.

Been living in a different part of the country for the last 10 years and have never once been inspected, licence took half an hour to get and every gun gets approved no questions asked (still not allowed semi-automatic longarms though). So it can vary a little bit.

It's a good rifle. I've had mine for about 15 months now. I use it for service rifle match class, and do pretty good with it. Although no factory ammo has performed well in mine. Others have had good success with the Aussie Outback 69gr ammo but mine pumps out 3" groups with that stuff.

Dont want to say too much, last thing we need is Adlergate 2.0 the salt pistol edition.

But yeh, its a thing.

Or I am fucking with you, wait and find out ;)
>>
>>33494472
Depends by state, generally no they don't have any legal power to do so.

Qld you don't and you dont have to provide license unless in possession of a firearm.

That said they can knock back your PTAs and license renewals until you let them look at the safe, but thats about it.

I just organised a suitable time for me and them with the coppers here when they asked.

Also double checked for stray .22s etc, there weren't any but doesnt hurt to be cautious.

>>
>>33494929
A different anon here aside form those other two informative posters what really makes thing iffy in Australia is that its extreemly discretionary on the part of the police and your experiance can literally change city by city or even when a new police commissioner is appointed.

For instance my state has recently seen a bit of a crack down as the head of police ( a former military man) thinks only cops and soliders should carry firearms.

Accordingly just recently we had a case go all the way to the supreme court (not the highest court in Australia btw) where the police tried to prosecute a lad for unlawful possession of a fire arm because he had a spud gun.

We also had a case where the police refused to allow suicide barriers in a range to be installed because they were advised that if they allowed that it would make it harder for them to strip the range of its operating license in the future.
>>
>>33495944
>hit up facebook buy swap and sell pages, or wait for sales.

Wouldn't that create issues with the cops if other people had the codes/combination?

>>33495734
It bugs the hell out of me that things like the Tokarev can only be held as collectors or cat D guns because their barrels are 4mm too short

Took a look through their website and coulnt find a process tracker like in SA.

When it hits the 35 day mark just give them a call and politely enquire about what stage it is at and if you need to provide any more information or made any mistakes on the forms.

Never be anything but delightful to them no matter how hard they fuck you.

>>
>>33496167
Fuck I forget how cucked the east coast can be. Is it a 22. or something more controversial like an lever action shotgun?

Was just looking through your requirements and saw that unlike in SA you need special permission to have non bolted in safes. Which makes it a bitch for people who rent
>>
>>33496252
>Is it a 22. or something more controversial like an lever action shotgun?
Err... What?

>you need special permission to have non bolted in safes
No, it just needs to weigh 150kg.
>>
>>33495952
Yeh for Cat H collectors you have to be i club.

Havnt got to shoot them yet but havent had the license for very long.

Its 2 collectors shoots a year per club in Qld, but you can go to any clubs shoot so if you want you can shoot them somewhat frequently if you get friendly with other collectors.

Qpol currently wont approve shoots to have Cat C shotgun for some reason bizzaro reason. Cat C rifle and handguns are ok though.

Its a good license to have if you actually want to collect guns. I have a hardon for Sportcos WW1-WW2 military pistols and European subcompacts (Baby Browing, Walther PP etc).

Slowly working on building it up. Going to need a fucking strong room soon though.

Also in Qld you buy have full cap mags on a collectors license, I bought some just because even though i dont have guns in that calibre.
>>
>>33496252
Qld safe only needs to weigh 150KG and it doesnt need to be bolted in.
>>
>>33495996
You can reset the code on all electronic safes, and on the better mechanical ones too. That and there's no reason to tell the seller anything about yourself
