can someone here recommend me a new EDC?

i put my Talwars into retirement, i'm thinking ti-lite but im a lefty
>>
every single knife except for like 3 ive gotten from GEC has had some fuckup with it. blade play, blades sticking out, blades hitting the spring, etc.

the past 5 or 6 case knives ive bought have had blades hitting the inside of the spring

now i planned to use my northwoods trapper today, i strop it, and then i see not that has a blade hitting the inside of the spring. before that, i accepted and put up with the spear blade having slight blade play and the clip blade's point sticking out enough to catch on my jeans

my hand picked old timer stockman has been stomping out ALL of those high end knives. tight springs, holds an edge just as well as the 1095, no blade play at all, and no blade dents from the inside of the knife. its stunning how fucked im getting on these expensive brands. are there just no good traditional knife brands anymore?

Reposting my recent acquisition from previous thread.

Any tips on sharpening? Is 1000-grit whetstone good enough?
>>
>>33489800
lol no motherfucker that niggers probably got 63 rockwell hardness. i wouldnt even touch that thing until you get a GOOD set of diamond stones
id recommend something sorta like this
https://www.amazon.com/DMT-D8C-Dia-Sharp-Continuous-Diamond/dp/B0001WP1L0/ref=pd_sim_469_10?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0001WP1L0&pd_rd_r=DZ4TREB227H8062P4R7V&pd_rd_w=KFMxH&pd_rd_wg=7AC08&refRID=DZ4TREB227H8062P4R7V&th=1

and as for sharpening, dont just get one 1000 grit stone and expect it to be a cure all. you need lower grit stuff to grind shit out. youll be sitting there all day long with little to no progress being made without it

Can anyone recommend me a UK legal knife that looks good? around £100 would be great.
>>
>>33490401
Did study abroad in UK (American)

Bought Spyderco UKPK

Enjoyed weightlessness, finger hold, jimping, blade profile, and wire clip. Continued to use for year+ after coming back to US.

Have since replaced with Endura4, soon to be replaced by PM2/Yojimbo2 but I still have and still enjoy UKPK.
>>
>>33489202
yeah, iw ish they would implement it in the new game.
btw. is there any real life knife looking like the old cs badlands bowie?
>>
>>33490441
Thanks for the reply I've been looking at the UKPK and am currently stuck between it and the Viper Dan 1 I might just toss a coin and let that decide how's the steel holding up after so long on your UKPK
>>
>>33490621
Fine. It's AUS8. Never particularly a hard duty use knife for me. It sharpens up relatively easily in my limited experience.

I have a Lansky kit, I could get UKPK to just about hair popping, but that same kit doesn't even touch VG10 on my Endura after 30min. Considering some freehand stones or maybe Spyderco Sharpmaker.

For example ZT makes a better Emerson folder than Emerson.

The edge on my voyager is somewhat fragile, and the serrations break 100% confirmed.

Not gonna lie that is the hotness. I honestly haven't really looked at them in a while I'll have to go check them out again. I remember when they first came out and everyone fapping over them and I felt they were somewhat wide and heavy...and a little expensive when compared to some other knives i was eyeballing
>>
>>33495872

ZT has upped their game since they started. Now instead of making meme heavy knives they try to make sleek looking quality knives gathered from different established designers.

You go to ZT if you want a quality beater version of a folder some custom designer you like makes.

Also many of them feature replaceable parts so you can service the knife and replace worn out pieces.
>>
>>33495872

Cold Shit still makes the most durable folders but the steel is sub-par compared to other high end folders.

Yeah don't worry, pretty easy to re-profile the tip. We've all messed up knives, I've taken big chunks out of machetes and axes by glancing rocks. I hit a nail with my Buck/Tops 650 Nighthawk right after sharpening once. Completely broke almost 1/2 the tip off of a Cold Steel Pocket Bushman (to be fair, I blame the steel, they have since changed), and I've managed to roll the edge of my ZT 0770cf in M4, that's gonna be a bitch to fix.

>>33494849
See pic related, I agree with a lot of people here. It's just big, and really that's all I care about, it has the reach of a machete. And with the wave it is faster than an automatic.

>>33495554
kek, your opinion = disregarded
>chinesium
Japanese AUS8a ≠ chinesium
AUS8a = very good budget steel for smaller knives.

They have now switched to American powered CTS-XHP. Honestly probably should be using something more strength oriented for the XL

>>33495209
>>33495223
>>33495230
I don't mind G-10, I actually think good G-10 feels quality, it really does not feel like plastic, since it's not. It's closer to Fiber Glass and Nylon. I've had some G-10 knives for 7 or 8 years now, it does wear and get smoother for sure, but it's still just as strong and looks the same.

>>33495238
The Leek is a great knife. The only problems they tend to have (other than people breaking the tip) is the Speed Safe will eventually break. This is not too big of a deal, Kershaw will gladly send you a replacement spring for free, or you can send it to them if you don't what to do it.

>>
>>33495800
>>33495823
>>33495866
I've had a Voyager XL Tanto (non serrated) for about 6 years now, along with others along the way. Not the case, the handle material "grivory" does not have the properties of something that will shatter, it's softer than G-10. As for serrations, this is not unique to just the Voyager or Cold Steel, but given the steel they will much sooner bend over the "chip", once again not the properties of the steel and temper, not hard or brittle enough. I don't like serrations in general, but to their defense, they are really only meant for soft mediums, if you bend them or if you "chip" them for sure, you were probably using them really heavily on a hard medium. Also there is a distinction between the old AUS8a, and the newer BD1 and XHP, which are far superior steels.

>>33495818
Kershaw and ZT (and others like Shun) are owned by the parent company KAI. ZT is the big brother to Kershaw in a sense. ZT's are only made in America, are much more expensive than Kershaw (Kershaw ends where ZT begins). They really are amazing quality for the price, the only thing that comes close to their fit&Finish (for the price that I've handled) is the Spyderco's coming out of Taichung Taiwan.

>>33495899
Their use of XHP in their $60+ knives is more than good enough, it's easily comparable with s30v. In fact I have an Exclusive PM2 in XHP that I spent $175 on. It's not a low end steel.

>>33495942
I've mostly only heard good about Mcusta. No personal experience though. I have some on my want list.

>>33496879
For around $10 it's probably one of the better knives you can get. However the real question is for me, is it better than an Opinel? I have experience with Cold Steel 4116, and with Opinel Carbon, and personally I much rather go for the Opinel. I'm not a fan of 4116, but for the price it's at lest not chinesium

They have some plastic/rubber handle ones, and some with painted handles. Have you considered fixed blades though?

But yeah for working around water I would go one of two ways. A cheap knife like the plastic Opinel or Cold Steel Kudu. Or go more expensive and get a Spyderco in H1, and try not to lose it.

I sailed (smaller race teams) for 5 or 6 years, and I know easy knives with pocket clips are to lose on the water. I lost a cheap Smith&Wesson knife, so I started to carry a Kershaw Skyline.. It started to show rust (bead blast finishes suck), so I switched to a cheapo. and lost it.

Eventually I carried a medium Vaquero Voyager, clipped to my pocket, but with a foot or two lanyard tied to my belt. Now a days, if I were still sailing, I would do that but probably get a H1 Dragonfly. Or maybe the Spyderco Tusk cause knife fag.
>>
>>33497107
That's a shame, but I hope you got something you liked for it. I couldn't imagine ever selling mine.

>>33497358
Considering getting into sailing myself. Did you ever get worried about the extra cordage b/t you and the knife getting in the way?
>>
>>33497006

You're paying extra for a sweet warranty, which you'll probably never need to use if you treat your shit right.

The handles suck, it's not hard at all to make your own custom ones for next to nothing (get some old pair of jeans, get some resin and go at it)

Plus if you want to resell it and the blade is no longer new and looks like shit. Break it on purpose and send it in and have them send you a new one. I did that for my esee 5, 6, junglas. Sold them all for pretty much retail price (Esee knew I broke them on purpose, still replaced them)

Original kudu question anon here, we have a small fleet of sunfish at work. Did you sail Lasers?

My old go-to was a Buck 426 (essentially a bucklite 110) but I lost it overboard while tending mooring buoys. I should really have used a lanyard like you did. The 426 is long since discontinued, but the Kudu is likewise stainless, of a similar blade length, blade thickness is within 1mm between the two, and the kudu allegedly has a strong lockup like the Buck did.

Yeah, I sold it because I needed a bit of money to last me from end of school semester to when my job started. I bought it used a few years ago and I actually think I sold it for a bit more than I bought it for.

>>33498023
>>33497448
I would still clip the knife to my pocket, so I would just have a loop dangling, but most the time I would shove that in my pocket with the knife. It was only a real problem when I was sailing boats like the 420, where it has all the line from the main sheet and jib and spinnaker.

I mostly did sail Lasers, I preferred sailing solo, to the larger crew boats.

>>33498231
To vauge, depends on if you have a particular use and if you are going for modern or classic. But at lest with modern, the Kershaw Link, Skyline, and Leek are very good, and the Ontario Rat 1 and Cold Steel Medium Voyagers are good. If you can swing $75 I very highly recommend the Cold Steel Code4. Of my most commonly carried knives, it's one of the only sub $100 ones.

>>33498406
No, this is a common misconception, proper riveted chain mail is exceptionally good at stopping stabs. You need a very thin blade, preferably a triangular one, to get through it. No common modern knives would fair well against it, something like a Ice Pick would do well.

>>33498368
Do you watch Metatron? He talked about this and does this. But like >>33498454 said, there is a lot more modern solutions to it that don't weigh as much. And may even be cheaper honestly, riveted mail is expensive, we are talking over $300 and more than $600 if you want a proper fit.

These are valid points. Chris Reeve him self has said before that he intentionally runs his s35vn soft for the "ease of sharpening", but that's pretty retarded; I bought this performance car but limited it to 100hp so it's easy to drive.

My problem with running it soft, is not just edge holding, it's greatly weakening the edge Stability, meaning you can warp the edge like Jdavis did. To fix that takes a lot of time and losing a lot of material, it's a lot harder to sharpen a warped edge than a properly hard one.

With that and the weak look, but the exceptional fit and finish and feel of handling it, he has made it clear that it is a dress/light edc knife and not a work knife.

And that is where the value of it needs to be considered: Do you want a fancy knife, that is very well made with in the perimeters of it's design, and has a lot of history behind it, and you don't mind the idea of carrying it as pocket jewelry? Yes? Then it's a great knife, and it holds it's value very well, you can buy one for $410 now, and if you take care of it, sell it for $350 5 years later.

But if you just want a tool, it's crap, and idk why you would even look at a $400 knife if you want a tool. Something like a Cold Steel Code4 will run circles around it in performance for $75.

I honestly don't see why a whet stone would not work, yeah it will wear the stone a lot, but that's just a part about using whet stones, they have to be lapped from time to time.

It really depends what you want to do. Do you want to follow the Guided system root? It is more expensive (not way more expensive), but you will get better results faster.

Free hand is cheaper to get into, and is for the most part more versatile, but a very large learning curve, and years to get similar results to a upper end guided system.

I personally mostly use a Wicked Edge, which is a higher end guided system. All in all my set up is about $700-$1,000 new depending on how you buy it. I'm also practicing my free hand though, and I have about $300 of water/whet stones. And a belt sander, but I discourage that unless you have a lot of really large knives and machetes.

For someone just getting into is, I recommend watching a lot of videos on free hand, some gent here normally posts a good video on free hand, and on any system you want to use.

I would recommend getting some free hand stones and some cheapo kitchen knives to practice on. If you want to get really sharp edges early on, do the rough work on stones, and then finish the edge with a Spyderco Sharpmaker, I did this for a long time, still use it for serrations.

Hey Condor.

Nice, it's Hanwei right? They make some good stuff, my first sword was from them, the Katana in pic related. When it comes, you planning to post some pics? I am curious to how sharp it will be and how good the transitions from wood to metal with be. The castings, I assume, look very detailed and well done.

Well really depends on what you plan on using it for, I don't think that has that useful of a blade shape, at lest for a lot of tasks. It would be great for opening boxes and cutting rope though.

Normally in that price range I say Spyderco PM and Manix 2, Code4 (under budget), maybe a Boker Kwaiken if there is a variant in budget, The Kershaw Premium Skyline. I'm sure there are a few good Benchmades right now.

Oh a knife in that range I've wanted for a long time, the Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter, in orange actually.

Or you could get a Spydercomb... BladeHQ's lovely April First Offering. Sad part is, I would not be surprised if Spyderco made one some day.

>>33499358
I would honestly take the Talwar or Large Espada over the Black Talon any day. I think those two are about the best defensive knives cold steel makes. I would want a defensive knife to be able to stab. and slash well with the tip.

Also consider the Spyderco Military, but it does not have wave opening (zip ties don't look pretty), and it is smaller (compared to what you have, the legal limit I can carry in Nj), and it's more expensive. All of that being said, it's a great knife. I have never handled the regular G-10 one though, I only have the Titanium one. And the Al Mar Eagle, very light weight for it's size.

>>33499362
I mean you cold drill it and re thread, keep in mind though, it's going to be a thin hole and we are talking about hard tempered steel. Unless you are a machinist or good with metal work, and have a jig for it, I would not recommend.

You should email Cold Steel and explain the problem, this seems like something they may cover.

It's worth a shot, sometimes you will be surprised. I lost one of the washers for my XL Voyager, that I have had for years, and taking it apart voids their warranty. I emailed them and they said they would replace it for free and pay for return shipping if I mailed it in. I ended up just buying washers because I did not feel like sending it in.

And I bough a used Spyderco Ti Military, but it had stripped screws. I emailed them and even said I bought it used, and they sent me a full set of hard wear for free. Same with ZT and Kershaw, I've had their Speed Safe spring break on two knives (Kershaw Leek and ZT 0770cf) and both times they sent me a spring no cost.

Now this is a different case, they probably would replace the blade. But it's always worth a shot, you might as well send an email before potentially ruining the blade.

I got back a large part of what I paid in taxes. Looks like I won't feel bad about buying a new ZT this year. The 0055 is mine now.

Ohh and the k55k came, got to take some pics
>>
All right knife fags. Just got this k55k in the mail because of yall.

First impressions, it's pretty good, considering it was like $22. The bottom part of the spring, where it interfaces with the tang of the knife, does not sit flat with the handle open or closed, but besides that it's great.

The edge is better than the Opinel I got, but still far from what I like, so I'll sharpen it now. I bet it will take a good edge because of the carbon steel, like the Opinel did.

Also, got some for S-biners for my Schrade Priscilla... Something that would have been nice for it to come with, but for that amazing value it is, I can't complain. And honestly I probably would have replaced any caribiners it came with, with these anyways.

What a sword or a knife? If you want a knife, look no further than Mora or Opinel.

If you want a sword, that's a lot harder. If you want a Katana, you are shit out of luck, just about any sub $1,200 Katana is made in China, but they make very high end ones out of proper steels, Traditional and modern, good entry level will set you back around $300, but you can get a functional one for around $150 if you are willing to make some sacrifices.

With Euro swords you are in better luck, Windlass is based in India not China, but can be very hit or miss. You are better off buying a Chiness one from Ronin for $250. Even the middle level ones, like Valiant Armoury, are assembled in the US with US made parts, except for the blade which is forged in China. To get top quality stuff that is not Chines puts you at Lockwood or the Albion Square line which will be $580 with out a sheath, plus 8-9 months wait. There is Lutel, a Czech manufacturer, which puts out quality stuff for cheap, sub $600, but once again, a long wait, and expensive international shipping.

With budget swords, you are better off buying from an established reputable Chines company like Hanwei or Ronin.

Well mines not perfect either, this picture captures it near perfect to what it looks like in person. When you look straight on, you can see slight scratches, notably an inch back from the tip. I would need to spend more time on my ceramics I think.

Your results look very good to me, especially given the budget. I'm in over 10 times that on my Wicked Edge, pretty much a mirror edge cheat code. 50-1,000 diamond, 1,200-1,600 ceramic, and 5-3.5 micron strops... all in all 14 levels of grit, I rarely use the supper cores stones though. I'm over 20 times your budget including my free hand and belt sander stuff.

I think getting a consistent mirror polish for less than $100 is an achievement. And kek, I have the same problem with my pics.

I like how small, light and big the blade is. The carbon fiber handle has a very nice soft feel to it compared to my mostly G10 collection. The knife is incredibly sharp. Right up there with the sharpest factory edges in my collection.

I'm a big fan on the PM2 so I had to get the main competitor to see which one I like better. But right now I've been playing with this guy the most. It's a good step above as the sharpest knife out of the box.

Yeah I'm trying to think of the sharpest knives I've gotten from box. The Kershaw Skylines and PM2s are about the sharpest I've got. Maybe my Brous Blades Snipper as well.

But being a sharpening fag... I'm generally not supper impressed until I get my edge on it.

I've had the 940 and PM2 side by side, I honestly see them as kind of different use knives. The PM2, while in no means a tank, takes up more pocket, but it's wider blade seems a bit better for heavier work. I would carry the 940 as a more dress/light edc and the PM2 as more of a dedicated user. Not that the 940 could not stand up to the work.

I've been meaning to ask you what is the knife in your last pic related? A custom I assume I'm not familiar with the maker mark, then again I don't follow the custom knife community too closely. All of these fags aside, I like the colors, and the patter of on the bolster is very nice. The file work also looks really cool, I've yet to get any knives with filing work.

But the patterned bolsters, they stand out the most, I only have on knife with them. And I don't have a close up pic, so I'll just pull one off google, it's a Rock Creek Pronghorn skinner, it's a cast pattern, so it's not that detailed, but it looks nice.

Yeah. I feel like they are different knives too. I do like the feel and ergonomics and looks of the PM2 more. I have the indigo S110V one as my favorite PM2 right now. I also like the spydy hole better than the studs and prefer their lock over the axis. I just need to spend more time going back and forth. Oh and it seems like my 940-1 is one of the few that is perfectly centered and has no blade play. Beats the PM2 in the blade play by a lot.

The knife is a custom. An Andre Thorburn.

The PM2's are notoriously hard to set up just right, you have to play around with the Pivot and body screws a while, and probably uses some good grease. But it is possible to get them to center perfect, with a blade drop action, and only very minute blade play.

>>33507320
Very budget depended. But my go to work horse folder is the Cold Steel Code4. But if you want to go higher end, step up from the PM2, and still have a good working knife, look at ZT.

I'v been using the ZT 0562cf in pic related for 2 years now, and so far it's been great. My only note is that you will want to take it apart and clean out the bearings every year or two to keep in smooth. I'm also planing to buy at new 0055 some time soon when they come out in stock.

>>33508237
I really love the CRKT Minimalist. When I'm in the woods, I carry it almost more than my Gavko EDC (a $240 one). Eventually I plan on getting a neck knife from Murray Carter, but they are just too expensive for me now.

I have never handled a Silent Soldier, but I can speak for Brous Blades quality. I have a Sniper model from him.

Idk how good that price is though, it's listed on BladeHQ for $370ish, but that maybe an old price from when they last had them in stock.

So they could have gone up in price to help balance out demand. Either that or Knife Center is selling them for a lot and that is why they aren't selling out.

If I'm being completely honest, there is not much to ride. I see SOG as almost Mall Ninja now a days, yeah they have some good ones like the Twitch and a few others, but honestly I just avoid them.

I think it was the 2016 blade show, where they were over viewing the knife from pic related, and the sales man actually said "owch, the gimping is sharp"... That's when I completely gave up on SOG. If the "fuck you gimping" is so bad that even the sales man complains about it, they clearly don't give a crap about design functionality, and are just design mallninja spike knives, and claiming the Navy Seals use them. So they are basically M-tech at this point.

For fixed blades in that price range, look at Cold Steel, Ontario, the Kabar Becker line, heck even Schrade is better off than SOG.

>>33510598
I normally don't shop there, normally I use BladeHQ, Cuttlery Shoppe, or Amazon, depending who is cheapest. Kult Of Athena for sword stuff.

Sounds like you need a multi-tool. Just get a Leatherman or SAK.

Knives really are best used as cutting implements. Some light prying is okay, but I mean light, like opening paint cans (if it has a more robust tip) and I always use my knives to lift caps off glass bottles.

But if you must you a knife, probably better to go with a cheaper one and use it as a beater. Ontario RAT 1, in D2, is good, but has a bit delicate or a tip for prying. The Cold Steel Medium Voyager Tanto or Clip in BD1 is pretty strong.

My go to beater is the Cold Steel Code4 Spear point if you are willing to spend that much. My really heavy better is just a Utility Razor.

For that kind of thing I just use a utility razor.

*warning, rant*
One of the reasons I am really into knives, is their permanence. When I buy a knife, more so a $150+ one, it is with the intention I'll own it for years, if not my life, if not to pass down. It's more than a tool, every time I use it, every time it aids me in a situation, it is one more memory bound to that knife. As tacky as this is; In away, my box of knives is a box of memory ques and stories.

They have been a essential tool since the dawn of humanity. And the knives with have are the pinnacle of all that. Not to get into Metaphysics, but to do just that; Despite the Particular of a modern tactical folder being almost completely alien in comparison to the Particular of a flint knife, they still hold the same role, the same value, the same symbolism, they are a Universal. Were knives the first Universal made by man?

Every once in a while, when I'm sitting around a fire, whittling a stick, I can't help but feel I'm following the motions of a Universal action, one that has been shared by all of humanity.

tl;dr... I say "knives are cool" in a very sappy and pretentious way, with out actually addressing why, out side of utility blades, I don't like having knives that are disposable.

i totally fucking feel that.
im not a huge gun fag but you can call me a knife fag all day long

they are so simple and efficient for so many things,. but it's just a sharpened piece of metal

and we are still making technologies most efficient way of making knives to this day

i feel a lot more powerful/comfortable holding a knife than a gun, which is weird but i get why too,

Literally nothing will happen, they don't inspect every package. Worst worst case they'll confiscate it, but you will not get in any trouble. I imported a Kershaw leek through the mail to Australia, when I got it it had an "inspected by customs" sticker on it and the internal packaging was ripped. Still came delivered, no dramas despite the speed safe opener being technically illegal here...

I'll make a guide when I feel like it. For now, I'll >spoonfeed instead.

>Spyderco Delica $65: VG-10, lockback, thin/light, steel is a bit soft and their earranty isn't great.
>Cold Steel Recon or Code series. Take your pick as long as it isn't serrated. CTS-XHP, Tri-Ad Lock, G10 handles. Basically won't break unless you're trying to.
>Ontario Rat 1 / 2 $30: AUS-8, G10, liner lock. Soft steel but nice carries.
>>
>>33517144
>steel is a bit soft
I'm pretty sure Delicas are run at 57-59, which is pretty standard, unless you're one of those people where 60s are low for you.

>warranty isn't great
nice meme

>SMG's are supposed to be good
I mean, they're not terrible. All of them are better than the fucking M4 though. The UMP is a much better eco or anti eco gun than a 5-7 or Kek9, it's just that both of those outclass most of the other SMG's
>shotguns were supposed to be useful
Nova and Mag-7 are good on CT on most maps other than Dust 2 and fucking Cobble.
The Negev and R8 are basically being "beta tested," before completely fucking competitive over by breaking them (like they have so many times already). And because the community didn't fucking take the public test build they had been asking for, Valve is approaching weapon balancing in a different way.
I'll admit, matchmaking is ass. I played 8 wins in a row, topfrag 7 of them with minimum 5 MVP's per match. I solo queue for 3 matches and every time I got matched against a smurf or two. Fucking deranked after 8 wins (in a row) then 3 losses due to smurfs.
Overall CS:GO is a lot better than a lot of games right now, specifically CoD and Overhype, but Valve is definitely not treating it right, same with TF2
>>
>>33517175
As much as I love Spyderco, they could use some improvement in the warranty department.

VG-10 is just not a very tough steel, or a good edge holder.

MAC-10 and MP9 are great for rushes, especially on Mirage. Smoke A-main from CT, flash in with MP9, ez eco. Everyone buys MAC-10 + helmet on second round, rush B cyka, pretty easy. UMP is great overall. MP7 sucks unfortunately, Bizon is worthless, and the Pro90 needs to be removed.

I'll consider, I don't really use kik, but heck, maybe I'll give it a try. Don't have time today though, got a physics exam on thermodynamics at 2pm, and probably going to bed after words. Been up all night trying to get my heat engine efficiency calculations under half an hour, got it down to 17 minutes, but knowing my professor, he's going to throw a curve ball.

>>>33516366

Would not consider the Delica for a knife to "abuse", they are pretty much pure cutting tools. I've actually only had good experiences with Spyderco's warranty, they have sent me parts, no questions asked, before for knives I even said I bought used. That being said, I know about the current controversies, red lock tight and all.

I would consider VG-10 a decent edge holder. It's not bad, for me it alone, is not a deal breaker. What it really has going for it is pretty good edge stability and corrosion. If you have a delica or endura for light cutting, like food prep, you can run the edges stupid thin and get very impressive edge holding.

>>33517207
kek I did not even notice.

I'd thought I'd shopped around enough to find a decent one, but as it turns out I was wrong.

It's good for what you pay on most of their knives. If you're paying more than $50 for something in 420hc then you done goofed.

people that want high quality knives require full tangs and blade geometries made to take beatings and abuse really well, but were not allowed to test the abuse?
>>
>>33495546
Huh. If you are referring to slipjoints, they've worked fine for the past 300 or so years by people whose lives actually depended upon good tools. Modern standards are usually far less strenuous, like kitchen duty and opening mail, not carving repairs for farm equipment or skinning muskrats so you and your family won't starve lol.

>ball bearings
truly disgusting gimmicky that has no place in knives, it adds zero increased performance in exchange for a hefty increase in final price.

I have been put away from zt since they started using it in every fucking folding knife, otherwise they have many designs that I like, that one of yours is one of them.

But hey gotta keep retarded cunts that pay $500 for knives and only use them to fap and open envelops.
>>
>>33521901
Yeah because that's a $500 knife, not $240 at all.

And sure, these ball bearings surely do suck, being supper smooth and all, and really only costing a few bucks more on a production scale. You know, fuck those Phosphor bronze washers as well. they are only there to drive up the price. I want all my knives to be steel on steel, or better yet steel on wood.

You know fuck it, I hate steel, it's just expensive. Just carve a blade out of a piece of flint.

>I HATE TECNOLOGY. Fuck forward progress. There's no real reason to improve anything. If it ain't communist grade utility, I don't want it. I HATE LUXURY.
>>
Hello, german anon here. As you may guess I am deeply concerned about my safety and of the people I love.

German law allows to carry fixed knifes under 12cm and folders of any size.
The folder must be opened with 2 hands OR the blade shouldnt snap into place automaticly. Oh and the folder shouldnt be able to be opened by some fancy move.

What is the best choice?

I have a swiss pocket kinfe with obviously isnt usefull as a self defence weapon as it doesnt snap and is way to short.

Any suggestions?
>>
>>33507355
Unfortunately batons are banned in Tx, of all places. They fall under 'maces', named next to 'fantasy weapons' as the closest legal classification. I'd like one, but for now I'll carry my Spyderco Matriarch until I finally find a pistol I like.
>>
>>33522021
12 CM overall for fixed blades or just blade length?

I'd rather take the fixed blades regardless. While it's possible to deploy a folder with two hands under stress, I'd prefer the faster deployment and strength of a fixed blade.

How much do you want to spend? How easy is it to get knives over there?
