waste of good bullets. Unless you're pursuing them why waste the time and energy when you need to hold the land you just took?

They are making the bullets bleed energy so when it hits it's not as painful.

It's only unethical to shoot an incapacitated or surrendering enemy. A retreating enemy is trying to live to fight you another day. Historically, most of the killing done in battle was inflicted on retreating forces.

Its a very 'dry', textbook version of what happens.

Essentially, when you're being shot at or in some kind of lethal conflict- I now hate you.
There's no fluffy way of making it nicer that you can tell your kids about, try to kill me, I take it very seriously to return the favour and after they're running away its not like we all suddenly decide 'nah, we don't hate them any more' and have a group hug to feel better about it. Warfare runs best on having copious amounts of vitriolic hatred and dehumanisation, that way you can kill everything and everyone trying to kill you without feeling in the least bit upset by it.
Its serious from the first shot to the last.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how you kill the enemy, it just matters that they've been killed.
