Cause he's a founding member of the club and is actually an otherwise okay guy who is fun to talk to. Thanks to him, I've gotten to fire a broomhandle Mauser in 9mm and an artillery Luger with a drum mag. He'll always bring cool old guns and let people shoot them. He's just weird about the brass thing. It's kind of a joke around the club that he'll stand next to you when you're shooting and snatch the brass out of the air as it ejects.

im thankful that i'm fortunate enough to have my option of three places around here. Two of them are really cool and will let you brassrat all you damn want.

The third has that retarded policy of only brass case ammo and the only centerfire rifle rounds allowed are ballistic tip and softpoint.

I was always curious about that, too. do they have to protect the precious backstop until they made a certain % of profit over initial investment before they allow FMJ? (the place is only about 2 years old)

This. I discovered this the hard way when I tried to reload for my VEPR. That thing mangled cases and even though I managed to smooth them out with my Lee Dies, the cases lasted only 2-3 times before they started forming cracks. Compared to my AR or 30.06 bolt gun, I'm up to 8 reloads on some of those .223 brass.

My local range has a big sign up that says "All used brass is property of the range. You may only collect brass that you have shot yourself." I think they just got tired of range scavengers annoying other shooters.
