But real talk; you want a Norwegian Kar.98k in .30-'06 or an Israeli Kar.98k in 7.62NATO.

Ishapore

Literally a Lee Enfield no1 mk3 in .308

Pajeet literally baked extra poo into the metal to make it able to withstand the pressure.

CZ550 for that Mannlicher stock.

Alternatively, if you want to just get weird and also possibly shoot multiple calibers, I held a T/C rifle the other day. Comfortable as hell, but I can't decide if I like or hate the way it looks.

No, but good 8mm that isn't pudloaded IS hard to get
>>

You're not going to care unless you take it out to really long range, or hunting something really large. You can't feel a big difference.
>>
>>33482758
also proper tools, like a piece of rubber and a punch.

Before i got a stanely punch set i would cut pieces of wood to use a drifts(still do occasionally) and a good no marring hammer is nice to have too.

I recently had to take apart a Winchester 94' pre '64 that was in mint condition had never been taken apart. It was a real bitch to take apart and it absolutely required the right tools. It also took 4 hands.

There are others too, drawing a blank right now though.

you dont need special rounds unless your going for accuracy.

>pic related, The big whole is standard 8mm FMJ.
If you want more than that just file down part of the tip so it has a lopsided angle or file down the tip til lead is exposed. Does a really good job.

The gunsmith specials will need work and might not work, but 7.62 is not higher pressure than 7mm military loading both at ~50,000 psi.
>>
>>33486897
>loading both at ~50,000 psi.
SAAMI spec for "7mm Mauser" is 51,000PSI; CIP-spec for "7x57mm Mauser" is 56,595PSI.

CIP-spec for 7.62NATO/".308WIN" is 60,191PSI, and SAAMI-spec for ".308WIN" is 62,000 PSI.

This does not necessarily mean that all of these cartridges are loaded to their max tolerable chamber pressure; it just means that this is as powerful as you can make them before the case fails.
>>
>>33487084
7.62mm nato does not have the same spec as .308win, 7.62mm nato ball is 50000psi.
>>
>>33487114
That's bullshit.
>>
>>33487127
I'm sorry 52,000 PSI for in spec nato ball, not your fancy hunting loads.
>>
>>33487114
>7.62mm nato does not have the same spec as .308win
It does for all ammunition loaded within the European Union.

>>33482549

I want one so bad but

>800 bucks for a non bubba'd version

>>
>>33487164
You're still spreading bullshit.
NATO spec is ~61kpsi same as 308 in CIP
countries.
>>
>>33487181
I'm not talking about hot loaded civilian ammo I'm talking about 1 type of BALL load.
>>
>>33487180
I got a bubba'd stock one for $350. After all the parts and stock it's only cost me ~$250

I was too much of a pussy to stand up to my roomates and buy guns when mosins were 120-150 bucks, now they are 250-300 and I just can't justify buying one. Shit sucks. I got into guns thinking I would be able to cop some of this WW2 surplus and now I can't find any at a decent price because I waited too long.

All the gun stores in my area are fudd price gouging assholes so I can't find any good deals there, and I can't find any good deals for surplus bolt guns online that don't look like they are beat to shit.

And honestly trying to scrounge around for the last of this stuff while racing hordes of faggot re-sellers for table scraps just isn't fun.

I think I'm going to cut my losses and just save up for pic related. I shot all of my friends gun collection a while back and this was by far my favorite rifle to shoot. It does the exact same thing that surplus bolt actions do, loud plinking fun rifle with long range capabilities, and uses more common ammo.

I'll probably put a walnut stock on it so I can pretend it's an old wartime carbine.
>>
>>33487272
Yeah you definately fucked up, I got into surp about 2 years ago and was able to amass a decent collection before a lot of the more notable price spikes.

K31s, Yugos, and Swede Mausers are definately still solid investments, even if theyre a little priceyer then they had been.
>>
>>33482562
Pawn shop has one of these for three hundred dollars, comes with a box of ammo. It's got this god awful looking polymer stock on it, though, and there's no telling how bad the barrel is...

Should I get it anyhow?
>>
>>33487344
Check the barrel first, $300 doesn't sound too bad for and Ishapore and leaves some money to put towards finding proper furnature.
>>
>>33487344
What condition is the bluing in?
>>
>>33487344
Talk him down to $250. A new stock is going to run you $100. Check the bore, action, headspace, etc.
>>
>>33487362
Haven't been in a few days; wasn't paying attention to the bluing specifically. Let's play it safe and assume OK at best and Bad at worst
