Looking into getting a gun when I move back to the US of A. any recommendations on what I should get?

Trips command a 1911
>>
>>33477009
have been looking at a shitload of them.
>>
>>33477000
Are you dead set on a handgun? You open to rifles or shotguns too?
>>
>>33477016
All depends on what you want. Want that A1 look? Get an original for $800. You can buy modern repros for $400+ but shit, you're already half way, why not get the real deal? Build your own, 1911s are decently easy and fun. Go full retard and spend $3,000 on on that has some dudes name stamped into it. You can't go wrong with a 1911 unless you buy one in 9mm or buy from Taurus.
>>
>>33477028
open to anything.
>>33477032
was also considering a P220 as well.

1911 is a fun good choice, small ammo capacity for standard mags though.

A Glock are always a go to. She might be a bit homely but she'll take all sorts of rounds and has nice large load if you're going for double stack.

Hi-Point pistols will cost you your pride, and roughly $150 bucks. Doesn't hold much but if you don't mind firing a plastic block that can dual purpose as a makeshift hammer, go for it.

Sigs are a fun shoot, but can be a bit pricey.

As for rifles you got your ARs, your AKs, and everything else.

ARs range from mere hundreds to sheer thousand depending on parts. Very modular, and can be good as any gun if you mod it right.

AKs are fun, but she's a bit more finky than the ARs. The ol' 47 is a classic, but more akin to a submachine gun on steroids than an actual "assault rifle". Most updated AKs fair much better however, and I recommend you go for one.

SCARS, AUGs, and other expensive range toys are pretty fun, but they'll burn through your wallet faster than a summer Steam sale. Course if you got the money...

As for shotguns, Remington 870s are cheap and reliable, Mossberg 500 cost slightly more and I don't know what the gain is. Both I recommend since shotguns are fun to shoot and there isn't much of a risk of a round flying wild.

Gif not related.

IMO, 762x39 is the minimum caliber to be a lot of fun.
But as much as I like aks, I think the vz58 is both better and more fun to use. It'll cost you more than a cheap ak of course, but very worth it IMO. Stripper clips are a lot of fun to use too.

Pack it up, we're done in this thread.

Look at Springfield Armory 1911's. My first was a Loaded model.
>>
>>33477399
There's everything wrong with 9mm 1911s. There is not a single positive about them over a .45
>>
>>33477900
should just get a Desert Eagle then?
>>
>>33477112
Go for it. If you're in a good suppressor state, get one along with the Vector. You'll get a whole lot less eeeeeeee.
>>
>>33477900
Yeah there is, you don't have to shoot CDP class and automatically gain 50-75lbs bodyweight doing so. Enjoy being 3-7 seconds behind everybody but the wheelcucks.

t. ESP shooter
>>
>>33477900
Can you substantiate this? What exactly are the problems that appear when using 9mm in a 1911 chambered for 9mm?
>>
>>33478622
None that don't manifest in all cheap 1911s. It's just a hyperventilating Fudd that thinks bullet tech is stuck in 1970 and having 8+1 rounds is better than having 10+1. Obviously doesn't shoot much either since the difference in cost doesn't even occur to him. The majority of 1911s shot for sport these days are chambered in 9mm, just go to any IDPA match and watch.
>>
>>33478622

It's fucking pointless. The 1911 is an outdated firearm. If you're getting one for reasons other than tradition, you're doing it wrong.

Shoots super soft, larger capacity, cheaper to shoot.

>>33477900
I stand by what I said, in some places 9mm Luger is not only cheaper than .45ACP, but substantially so, and features the bonuses of higher capacity and lighter recoil.

>>33478645
So if a guy likes the:
>trigger
>grip
>controls
>overall feel and look
of a 1911 and wants a fun gun to shoot, he's under no circumstances going to weight .45ACP vs 9mm?

You're like the kind of fag who repeats ad nauseum that all Desert Eagles ever should be .50AE or "there isn't a point". Just stop being a faggot.
>>
>>33478645
Competition. There is no better firearm. And don't give me some stupid gurgling about capacity when the 2011 frame exists.
>>
>>33478844
>2011 frame
Do you mean that dumb as shit double 1911 or have I missed something

>Tfw getting an RIA as my first 1911 for muh birthday
Tbh I'm not much of a 1911 fan but I love the idea of $8 mags and I want to make waifu grips.
>>
>>33478913
They're pretty good for their price, just don't expect anything fantastical.

Also don't spend a bunch of money trying to upgrade it beyond grips and maybe mags; you'll quickly run up in prices where you might as well have bought a nicer gun to begin with if you start trying to make a nicer trigger and nicer sights.
>>
>>33478913
Good luck. You may get memes about RIAs running like a top or "muh original specs", but cheap guns are cheap guns and you need to be prepared to deal with that. Be ready to send it back if it doesn't work right.
>>
>>33478935
Unless you want the satisfaction of doing all the customizing yourself. I got an GI model RIA a couple years ago and the only original parts that are still original are the frame and slide. Sure it was just as expensive in the end as a high-end 1911 but it was an enjoyable experience.
>>
>>33478976
RIA are generally pretty helpful with their customer service, and most people seem to have decent luck with their 1911s.

>>33478977
I suppose it can be a training thing for an all green gunsmith.
>>
>>33478999
Yes, but you're still going to have a decent rate of lemons coming out of RIA. They're $450 pistols made on ancient tools. Not saying you can't get a good one but rolling a six sided die and trying not to roll a 1 or 2 is a good approximation of your chances at getting a reliable shooter.

>>33478977
It's really better to just order 100% of the parts from a catalog at that point.
>>
>>33478630
And I'm sure the OP will be going to national matches right off the bat with his first purchase of a 9mm 1911 then?
>>
>>33479186
I guess I will
>>
>>33479247
That'll be $1k for a base line pistol and another $500 or so getting it suited to you. Good luck.
>>
>>33479186
He doesn't have to, he's just making one case for a 9mm 1911.
