Are ATVs a decent shtf vehicle in you are in more rural areas, could be used as a casevac vehicle, qrf vehicle, isn't to hard to maintain and can get most places.

Also is there any major difference between military and civilian ATVs other than just the added framework for carrying litters?

I think you mean this one:
https://pastebin.com/raw/FhKXrmYh

ROKONs are pretty cool too. You can fill the tires with gas or water, or that was some other ATV motorcycle I've seen, I guess Russian
>>
>>33476716
God fucking dammit I did, thank you.
>>
>>33476716
True but you can only carry one person, I'm thinking a vehicle that can carry more than one if needed.
>>
what do you guys think would be the best ammo for trade in SHTF?
>>
>>33477705
Honestly I'm not particularly sold on the idea of trading ammo outside of my own team. I think there are other useful things that you can trade with that doesn't have the potential of being returned to me at high velocity.

this. ammo is love, ammo is life

Ammo for the gun you don't have/sold a while back. You're thinking is backwards though, the better question is
>what would be the best caliber to have guns in for SHIT
To which the unequivocal answer is:
9x19
followed by 5.56 if you're in the western hemisphere, and then of course 7.62 neato if you're in a 3rd world shithole
>>
>>33477998
This is pretty much true, I don't see why you would buy ammo for weapons you don't own, and if it's ammo for weapons you own you would be better off keeping it for yourself.
>>
>>33477760
fair point, what would you stock up on for trade?
>>
>>33478855
Consumables: lighters, cigarettes, TP, those little complimentary bottles of shampoo and body wash. Just think about some of the little creature comforts, hell even porn mags may be worth a pretty penny as long as they aren't "well loved"

Alternatively you can go for more trades, offering your skills and services in return for goods (or possibly your life if shit really is bad) mechanics, plumbers, medics it's all useful skills that will make you an asset, people will pay for those sorts of things.

Just the thing to mention here, don't stock up on trade items at the expenses of yourself. If you cannot survive then you can have all the lighters and toulet paper in the world and it won't help you. Square yourself and your team away and then, if you have time space and money, only then look at stocking up on potential trading.

sampler bottles of liquor (esp vodka). Can serve as fuel and antiseptic besides obvious recreational purposes.

Ollie's post covers the rest pretty well....

The only thing I will note about trading, is be careful who you trade with. I know there's the classic phrase of "hide your power level" but if people see you have a lot of shit one of two things may happen, they may offer you a crappy trade because they know you have a lot of it, or you may get robbed for it, which may cost you more than a few lighters and taster bottles.

On a different subject does anyone read any of those survival magazines like outdoorsman and ASG?
>>
>>33476326
One final question before I go and do some actual work, for the people that have looked at the PDF, do you think it would make more sense to move things like the reports, and orders sequence (the actual reports not the descriptions) and move them to an appendix to streamline the document a little more?

Which lists do I get put on for downloading these documents?

What documents?

The medical section confuses me. It has a lot of good and accurate information for relatively high(er) level paramedic type field stuff but the heart rate info for ABCs management is totally wrong. Normal heart rate is 60 - 100, agreed by every medical textbook you can find published in the last century. Why does this document claim a heart rate above 80 is 'deadly'?
>>
>>33476608
ATVs are good. You need to know the area if you want to go fast. Otherwise you need to go kinda slow so you don't get a surprise bump or ledge.
>>
>>33480111
good point, checked.
>>
>>33481647
I don't think it said deadly, it says dangerously high, and if you have a catastrophic bleeding a heart rate that high could result in faster blood loss. I mean it it is entirely dependant on the individual, and a good medic would know the standard HR of his teammates especially if working in a small team.
>>
>>33481762
I'm just pointing out that it could use clarification. Of course I understand the insinuation that is being made of a higher heart rate leading to a more rapid blood loss as being probable. The document makes the point throughout that if you don't know what you're doing in a medical emergency then don't try anything more advanced than stopping a wound from bleeding.

Most people don't know the first thing about the human body and while it's obviously not directed at teaching 'medical fundamentals' I would try to avoid freaking people out if all they can remember is this document and an 80+ heart rate is claimed dangerous.

Hard candy, cigarettes, those little airline bottles of booze, Bic lighters, anything consumable or disposable.

Learn how to homebrew, then you can trade beer for whatever you want/need. Learn how to make soap, you can trade the fuck out of that.

Learn skills. You'll never run out of tradeable commodities if you can trade services for goods.
>>
>>33481832
Fair enough I'll make a note of clarifying that the next time I update it.
>>
>>33480111
>"hide your power level"

Don't be known as the guy who has everything. Develop a rep as the guy who might know somebody who could lay their hands on the desired commodity. Find out what people want, come back 2 days later and say you can get it. Don't forget to negotiate your cut. Also, negotiate how the trade will happen so that nobody gets screwed.

People are less inclined to try to something if they think you're the middleman. They don't have to know that you're acting as your own middleman.

This right here is gold ladies and gentlemen.
>>
>>33481832
I have now fixed that, I have also moved most of the reports/anything big down into an appendix section so it flows more smoothly.
>>
>>33476716

Dave Canterbury has a video about his. It's pretty sweet.
>>
>>33480111

I read them. They make excellent bathroom reading, the info inside is useful.
>>
>>33484912
Yeah though sometimes you have to filter through some shit. No pun intended
>>
>>33482099
This.

Don't show your stock, your cans, your gear, your ammo, your BOV, your "cabin"...

Find good people with great skills and common hobbies and interests. If you don't find people like this, better alone, don't accept someone bc he hangs out with you and you stand each other crap.

Stay away from people that wants to put his face in a YT channel, meetups from bushcraft forums, etc.

In Spain we have like hiking associations, usually very lefty, but wise and useful people. I learned a lot from them.

Read, learn and practice.

If you wanna explore your friends views about prepping, don't go full madman: muh nuclear war, muh economic collapse... Be subtle. After watching some catastrophe on the news ask how many food they have and what will happen if tomorrow the supermarket remains closed for a week, etc. After a couple of beers or a bottle of wine people talk. Make your point.

Ollie, i have read a few lines, good job. I have a lot of work this weekend, next week i'm going to read it all.
