>widely agreed in modern military settings that bullpups are less ergonomic than traditional rifles
>durr everyone that doesn't like my special snowflake gun is retarded
Autism incarnate
Bullpups don't offer significant advantages over traditional rifles and have many disadvantages - ergonomics, comparable weight, production expense, and logistics of replacement.
Maybe if we see another symmetrical war between serious military powers where we need .308 or 7.62NATO in small packages bullpups will be worthwhile, but I doubt it. As-is, asymmetrical warfare is subsidizing lower-power rounds and carbine-length rifles that can be produced cheaply and don't benefit from the Bullpup's niche advantages

Can all be swapped freely.
MDR takes zero monies to swap sides. Only the AUG and Tavor require additional doshingtons to convert to southpaw, and can be had factory left hand for no additional cost.
>>
>>33476281
they aren't price competitive and for my purposes they don't offer much beyond the cool factor

if there were bullpups available for~$800, I might be interested in one as a stand in for an sbr, but in the mean time I'm fine sbr'ing my ak pistol and having more money for ammo

>>

>>
>>33476609
RFB ejects out the front and has a switchable charging handle.
>>
>>33476699
Yes, it's unswappable. You just learn to shoot correct handed.
>>
>>33476729
>>33476729
I'm a lefty and can shoot with both. That said you will never be as good and comfortable with your non-dominant hand as with your dominant hand, it's simply not possible.

Especially if you started to learn as an adult.
>>
>>33476609
Not left handed but left eye dominant so I'm forced to shoot left handed.
>>
>>33476281

If they ever make a bullpup that is decent quality, without being overpriced, I would consider it as a novelty.

I just can't see spending $1300+ on a gun that I think is neat, but gets beat by any of my AR's.

So, if there is ever a sub-1000, I'll look into it.
>>
>>33476624
>Also, you can't switch shoulders on the fly regardless.

I have no dog in this fight but who are you fucking switching shoulders for? You pretend to be in combat a lot or do you actually go play three gun?
>>
>>33476895
You don't really switch shoulders in 3gun.

As I said
> Not much of an issue, but an issue nevertheless
>>
>>33476359
wht happened to this guy, CarniK Con?
>>
>>33476281
Because I could buy a rare, no-longer-imported AK variant that's guaranteed to go up in value or a really good AR that's purpose build for my application for considerably less than the price of these plastic meme guns.
>>
MDR hasn't released yet senpai
>>
>>33476281
Because I'm an undergrad and can't afford an AUG yet
>>
>>33477052
The .308 MDR is up to $2500 now. It would have to be almost impossibly good to justify that.
>>
>>33476281
They seem kind of cool but I don't have enough money to justify spending $1,000 more than on a similar not bullpup design. The ones I've played around with balance great I have to admit.

Someday though I'm sure.

But I do senpai. On the real though, I love my AUG and am very happy I got it, but the price difference between a bullpup and an AR these days is crazy. That's not to say there aren't reasons for this though. An AUG comes with a much higher quality barrel than any AR I've seen, and I have yet to see a single AUG barrel shot out (of course I'm sure the Aussies have plenty). That being said though, the average person isn't probably going to shoot enough for these gucci benefits to make a huge difference when buying. Stack that with the incredible price low of ARs we are seeing and it's a very expensive purchase. The best advice I can give is to save the pennies and get one if you want it, because I love the hell out of mine. But, if you are looking for a rifle to shoot with and have a limited budget, then a bullpup probably won't be for you.

He thinks shitty conversions kits made with things like SKSs or Mini-14s in plastic cradle stocks is an example of a bullpup or something that someone with any kind of sense would consider even if right handed.
>>

What the fuck it's "bullpup"? I always thought it was "bullup"..
>>
>>33477512
Are they really though? Machine guns Las Vegas reported that of their fully auto firearms (most of which have tens, even hundreds of thousands of rounds per year shot through them) the SCAR 16 and 17 had the least breakages/worn out parts. That means more to me than any YouTube torture test.
>>
>>33477249
1) It's not a 4 MOA
2) I was referring to the overall life span of the barrel
3) I am curious to how the higher gucci barrels on AR stack up to Steyr's mountain dwarf magic
>>
>>33477214
Yeah I've pinched fingers trying to work the bolt on my Carcano and Mosin really fast.

I do everything else right handed. My right eye is so bad I absolutely cannot use it for aiming. I started shooting very young so it was really natural for me to shoot left handed.
>>
>>33476685

>>
>>33477181

how's the quality of the newer AUGs? is the trigger any good?

>>
>>33476281
Personally, a Steyr Aug is probably going to be my next rifle if I can resist the urge to buy a FAL
>>
>>33477662
I love mine. Protip allocate $30 to change out the factory charging handle it's garbage. Get this one instead https://www.bullpuparmory.com/product_p/ghw-aug-ch.htm. The gun itself is a dream to shoot. Every once in awhile I think about getting another 5.56 rifle, but I just look at my AUG and know I won't shoot them more. Trigger is not bad, personally I don't get this whole bullpup triggers are the worst in the world thing, but I shoot a lot on different guns so I might have made myself ignorant. Now here are the gripes; shit charging handle out of the box (fix it Steyr for Christ's sake, it's a 1600 gun!), proprietary mags (Pro mag makes decent ones for a little less and the price isn't awful, but it's easy to be spoiled by AR's price dip), base model has no optic out of the box (sure I have money, but even the Tavor has some shitty irons), aftermarket (AUGs have very minimal aftermarket and basically one place for parts PJ down in GA). If you got the cash I'd say throw down for one and you won't be sorry.
>>

Consider the fact that a military or police contract for SCARs see them average at around $700 a unit; they're pretty cheap to make.

ARs are not really all that leftie friendly. They are operational, but:

You can't push the mag release with your index finger, so you pretty much have to take the mag out with your right hand and push the release with your thumb.

In other words, you are forced to make retention reloads and can't make speed reloads.

You can use the safety no problem, but it will require switching your hand around which is not ideal.

Ambi mag release and safety are definetly something you want on an AR as a leftie.

I'm left eye/tight hand dominant, but trained through to shoot competently both ways. Now I'm ambi. Git gud.

Bullpup is only ever worth considering if your are part of a mechanized infantry unit and need a weapon for the confined space of a vehicle... otherwise its trash compared to conventional design.
>>
When I went to Israel I noticed a lot of soldiers carrying .308 bullpups. I never seen the rifle before, anyone has an idea what was it?
>>
Because the cool factor isn't worth the price compared to a non-bull0up of the same caliber.

Found the noguns newfag
>>
>>33476281
Because I shoot rifles left handed and bullpups are memeguns.

Can't acquire here in the US...

But maybe one day I can make it happen. It's an AK at heart after all.

I'm a lefty
I already have burns all over my arm from AR casings, I don't want them an inch away from my cornea

>heavy, long, mushy triggers even with aftermarket "upgrades"
>can't into supported firing positions
Doesn't fit my shooting style.

I had had an FS2000 years ago, did literally everything worse than my Colt AR. I realize it's not the pinnacle of bullpups but at literally 3x the price of my AR it was a huge disappointment.

Oh god that indian abomination. It combines the shitskin poor 3rd world need for an AK with the common wealth L85 Influence. And that furniture *throws up*. (It just looks confused)

Sorry to break it to you. But I don't think the US is going to let these Russian firearms in. The Groza is a neat looking odd gun but I think that's really it's only alluring feature (it's design). It's neat in BF4 that's about it.

Would you recommend it, anon? Are they fun times or is it a big money sink?
I also heard that the 16" barrel actually helps the 5.7 round a lot, though I wouldn't be buying it for muh ballistics.
>>
>>33476281
Why would I? They are overpriced for what they offer and only thing they offer is shorter OAL. Plus they come with plenty of their own problems.
