So I've been researching the shit out of this, but it's a bit of a strange request so I thought I'd throw it to you /k/
I like hiking, never feel unsafe while out, but want a particular kind of gun to take with me. Here is what I've been looking for, maybe you guys will think of something I haven't been able to google.
>.22 pistol
>as light as possible
>threaded barrel (would like to suppress down the road)
>as cheap as possible
I'm flexible on all these points, just want something to plink with out in the woods. I'm leaning towards suppression and .22 just so that it's easier to chill around with friends and shoot.
So far, I've found the Beretta Bobcat and the Taurus PT-22 (a clone) to be close to what I want, but coming across threaded barrels seems to be annoying.
>>33470677
Just get a breakdown 10/22 or get a Mk. III with a threaded barrel.
Don't get the Taurus. Get the Walther p22 or Wather PPK in .22. Both great guns.
>>33470677
45/22
>>33470677
10 mm glock
a friend of mine got one of these a while ago and it's pretty handy for hiking. it doesn't jam on if you use high velocity ammo and it carries a few extra mags in the stock as well.
>>33470872
it's an ar-7 by the way
I carry a Ruger SR22
not op but /out/ related.
Would a break action 410 with the stock sawed off and the barrel shortened be a decent hiking/camping gun? Could carry a handful of different loading a and slugs and basically have a very powerful pistol that is long enough to be used as like a baton if need be? Most of the utility coming from it making a loud noise for animals and being visibly a gun for people/smart animals.
Get a 22/45 lite. It will meet the specs

>>33471023
Have fun waiting 9 months for the stamp required to do that to the gun
>>33471023
>>33470677
Ruger SR-22 or 22/45 Lite (or Tactical)
>>33470677
Have one of these>>33470872
Can confirm they're light as fuck and break down really nice, and it's cheap.
No threaded barrel though
>>33471120
>Ruger SR-22
This is a good ambi one
>>33470965
Checks all your bills
>22 pistol
>light
>threaded barrel
>bretty cheap
>>33470677
are there any dangerous animals where you live? and what are they?
>>33471023
They make 410 pistols you goober. You want to use a shotgun as a club? Just carry a camp axe or I don't know... a baton. Besides, in most states it's illegal to hack up a shotgun.
I bet you're 13.
just get a lel-kek pmr-30
30 round mag and fixed barrel make silencing easy. plus fully loaded it weighs one ar mag.
>>33471023
Thompson Contender. Get the 45LC barrel and have fun.
>>33471211
wait, I made a critical error. the unlocking is done with gas pressure. it would over pressure the gun a bit much. pass on my idea. lel
>>33470677
I bought .357 s&w revolver when I'm going out and not expecting to bag large game. It's light enough and could kill any large predator just in case
>>33470677
I bought a PT-22 once. Never made it through a whole magazine without a FTF. Got rid of it as quick as I could.
I've had Ravens that were more reliable.
>>33470677
Beretta bobcat with various types of .22 ammo. I need to get one. The Ruger SR22 is pretty awesome as well.
>>33470677
Walther P22
>>33470677
The 21A is definitely going to be the smallest, lightest thing you could carry. And quieter than a rifle because you won't be contending with supersonic crack or high velocity for reliable feeding. You can easily hold the slide closed behind a suppressor to make it a little bit quieter as well.
AR7 is complete dogshit. No amount of money can unfuck it, but it is a neat concept.
10/22 Takedown is a very solid rifle but much more expensive and obviously not anywhere near as small or easy to deploy.
IMO you got it right the first time. As for threaded barrels, Hi Desert Dog does barrel batches every once in awhile (pic related) or you can send the barrel to Tornado Technologies for threading. Turnaround at Tornado varies depending on when they are doing batches of specific guns--call them and ask, they may tell you a week or they may tell you two months.
Only pic I have with the 21A and AR7 together, sorry.
>>33471495
Beretta has a tilt up barrel.
>>33471495
Sorry didn't finish, can shoot one at a time, and switch out for different types of ammo easy.
>>33471495
Dat shoota is dead orky. What is it?
Is there a reason you're choosing to go with a .22cal handgun? If it's for random plinking then sure it's okay. But if we're talking self defense... there are better options. Including ones you can suppress.
Get a glock 26, small, lightweight, and get FMJ rounds for penetration since you're innawoods. Can also be suppressed and made very quiet
>>33471628
Charter Arms Explorer II
>>33471286
Smart man. What .357s do you carry in it? I tend to use 125 grain for two legged critters and 180hardcasts for anemails
>>33471193
One hell of a projection. Obviously he doesn't know much about guns but he's not saying anything stupid either.
Guns run out of ammo. And many hikers don't carry camp axes with them, when I go hiking I never really camp, I just have a walking stick and revolver. Or a shotgun.

Both of these Rugers are really appealing. I have no idea why I never considered these while I was googling. Thanks guys.
>>33471495
Is that a CZ 455? Do you like it?
>>33471809
Funny you should ask
>>33471583
Kel tec sub 2000
>>33471850
Been thinking about picking one up for awhile now, for squirrels
>tfw no Mech Tech carbine in .22
AR15, a few mags of ammo, and break it down and stuff it in your bag when you want to hide it.
>>33470872
I have one, but honestly, I don't really like it. I"d rather carry a Chiappa Little Badger.
>>33472388
if you remove the rail on the bottom, does it fold up any better?
>>33470677
just get one of these OP and slap it in your favorite AR
if you don't have an AR go fuck yourself you unpatriotic shit
>>33471084
>implying
>>33470677
Personally id go with a paclite upper on a ruger 22/45 lower. very light weight, suppressible, very accurate, can be modded easily. slightly pricey though.
>>33470677
What do you consider lightweight?
Get a .357 mag or .44 mag revolver or mare's leg.
My dad bought a 22 for $5 when he was a kid, its a toz single shot 22 (top one), I cant carry it about on public hikes but when hiking on private property I take it about.
>>33473171
Kinda why I wanted a pistol, not that I want to do anything illegal, I just don't want all the commotion of carrying a long gun. I took a BB gun with me and got a few strange/alarmed looks from people. I don't care what they thing, I'll fucking hike in a bright pink thong if I fucking please, but I just don't want rangers coming around and asking questions- it'd just be annoying.
>>33473023
I'll take any weight if need be, I just want lighter because it's easier. Hence the .22 also, more pows for the weight. Even if shit was in season, I'm primarily trying to hike not hunt so after getting the license and the permit and finding game and moving into position, I still would probly only want to take down nothing larger than a squirrel or rabbit.
Pic related is unrelated, just wanted to acknowledge this is out there. Really want semi-auto. Single shot just doesn't sound like fun for plinking
>>33472630
That completely misses "as light as possible". Even if you had an ultralight AR at like 4lb it's still way more than a pistol
>>33470677
kel-tec pmr 30
>>33470746
>Walther p22
i have one and they are pretty shitty to be honest
