it doesn't matter for red dots because you're not holding for elevation with crosshairs adjusting on the fly. if you do hold for elevation it doesn't you just move the dot up
if you're using crosshairs or a bdc or adjusting your elevation you will laterally change your point of aim/impact between the barrel and scope because those two lines are offset laterally. with a properly leveled sight they're only offset vertically and you should know how to use that based on your zero
