Hey /k looking for some advice.
Recently picked up a Remington 700 in 7mm for cheap, however it needs a scope. I'm trying to save money but I'd like to try and make this a long range build.
I was scrolling through Amazon and found this random scope, so for 40 bucks I'll give it a try BUT call me a pessimist, I think I'll need another one.
Any recommendations for budget scopes good to at least 700yrds, preferably 1000?
Also: any good recommendations for installing a bipod will be welcomed

Optics really are ine of those things where "you get what you pay for".
I would not anticipate making effective 1000 yard shots with a $40 scope.

Me either.. but one can dream..
I have a good Leopold 4-12 on my AR-10 I was debating swapping over to the Remington, then just buying a fixed 4x for the AR. I guess it depends on the performance of the 40$ scope from some random company lol

Ok ready:
>sell R700
>buy RPR or Tikka T3
>buy Nikon approx $300
>???
>profit

But I only paid 300 for the R700, it's my first 7mm but I like the ballistic profile online..

Thanks for the link, if my 40 dollar cheepo falls through this is what I'll go with

How old if the 700? If it's under 10 years old most likely it's a piece of shit and you aren't going to hit anything over 300 yds away.

>$40 glass
That's like something you put on a .22lr plinker.

It's probably under 10, I figured I'd at least try out the 40$ glass lol
>>33446325
That's $40 that you could have put towards good glass

agreed. if youre on a budget, check out primary arms 4-14x ffp scope. very nice for the money, great warranty, and actually useful features. optics planet has 12% off scopes right now with free shipping, so a mildot pa scope is around $200.
while that is quite a bit more than your $40 budget, it isnt a POS and you can reuse it or resell it later on if youd like.

buy once, cry once. Probably the most important thing /k/ has taught me.
Should send it in for the recall, they've been documented going off without the trigger being pulled, few people have died from it.

installing? you just line it up and screw it in.
I have a bi pod and it works for me, depends on what your doing, just groups then get a stand/vice. Most ranges have sandbags and little stands that work the same as a vice (if you make it sturdy enough) or a bipod.

few? kek. i wouldn't shoot a r.e.m. 700 of it was given to me. bad qc, bullets falling out of clips during shooting, going off by itself.
PA 4-14 ffp or a SWFA 10x or 16x fixed magnification.
7mm-08 or 7mmRM? Either way, you best get to reloading if you want to shoot a lot.

Harris bipod clips right to the rifle sling piece on the front of the stock. If you don't want to spend $100 I'm sure you can find a Chinese copy cheap

I agree it's more than a few, 60 minutes did a story on some people who were killed by faulty 700's, but it's hard to determine just how many incidents were caused by the rifle or the user. But either way, I'd never own anything Remington. Friend bought a R1 1911, shit broke during the first box of ammo.
