Louisiana is an open carry state, I live just above lake ponchatrain and so many open carry now its not even a thing. Will see many people of all types open carrying,also the crime rate has dropped a lot in most of these areas. A 20 year old who wears graphic tees and cargos is going to look autistic with a watch for sure, but it looks natural on a 30 year old who wears business casual to work and a 40 year old in a suit is going to look weird without one. I live in an open carry state, and the people you see in town who carry fall into three categories:

Except for the cowboys-- who nobody seems to mind-- the quasi-military types and rebels without a clue generally give up on open carry after being pretty much shunned by everyone in town.

I live in the middle of nowhere, and I do carry a gun if I have to go outside at night. People aren't a problem, but coyotes, coydogs, black bear and mountain lions are, coydogs being the worst. The mule deer and javelina herds bring the predators in.
The near-by towns are about all white, and folks wave when they drive by. There's no reason to carry a gun in town.
