God damn the aesthetic of this tank is perfect. Is it true the Germans would have fared a lot better if they just stuck with this model and upgraded it throughout the war?

Nope, even if they just made better IV's it wouldn't matter since the USA and USSR combined made over 90,000 tanks.

What the Germans really needed was about 10x as many panzerfaust, and sooner.
>>33441315
do you mean what if they upgraded the pz4 throughout the war or what if they stayed with the pz4 G
Guderian seems to think so, the heavy tanks were too prone to breakdowns and because Germany was fielding so many different models of tanks requiring their own spare parts and so on it made the logistics a nightmare.
The Germans DID stick with the Panzer IV and upgrade it throughout the war. The problem was that, as a result of being adopted earlier, it was an inferior design to both the Sherman and T-34 and that the Germans did not have the means and manpower to field them in the numbers necessary.

Pzfausts were absolutly awful the had a terrible kill rate
The only Kinda worked in urban combat a soldire had to get to suicidal range To Hit the broadside of a barn
Panzer IVs couldn't reliably kill jumbo shermans or IS series tanks. The turret simply couldn't accommodate a longer 75mm cannon. The PZ IV was initially an infantry support tank, carrying a snub nosed 75 not unlike the main gun of the early shermans.
However, Germany didn't have the industrial capacity to deal with the United States and russia. Had they managed to get PZ IV Gs available for operation Barbarossa, they might have been able to utterly destroy the Russian Industry and prevent them from taking part in the war. However, through a combination of Russia thinking up sloped armor before anyone else, lend lease and the Germans using smaller bore cannons such as 50mm and 37mm designed around flat armor being the norm gave Russia enough time to rebuild their war factories and by the time the Germans rolled out PZ IV Gs, Panthers and Tigers there were simply too many T 34s and IS tanks rolling towards them to make a difference.

It would have been an extra step of damage control.
That and having their frontal and side armor slanted would have been better than develloping a whole new tank (looking at the Panther in particular, who was still bretty good if it was produced in much bigger numbers)

What you mean is the Panzerschreck. The Panzerfaust was less than reliable.

>Before anyone else
Excuse me, friend.

No, because its frame ended up way over weight do to upgrades. If they had keep the design goal of its replacement (VK 20, AKA the The Panther) at 30 tons after the first increase then the Panzer IV would of been fully phased out.
