I need to build a backstop but the terrain where I'm shooting is a gradual slope downward, and it's largely flat so I can't just dig up one place and move dirt elsewhere. I can't get a truckload of dirt down there, nor could I afford it if the delivery guy was willing to risk getting stuck down there.

Ideas?

Railroad ties with tires, no steel belts though.. They're heavy but unless you're shooting 338 or higher it should be fine. Also you can dig out a backstop with a backhoe, with the hole being directly behind the backstop.

I didn't set up my longer range steel this winter like usual, so this is pretty much it as far as my "official" ranges go. Don't have a pic of the in-town range where I shoot trap/skeet and some handguns/rifles.
13.5-14.5" steel discs are normally what I shoot. I've got about 150 of them left, plus whatever other farm scrap I feel like shooting. Normally I just shoot for stupid fun anyway, not really a target shooter past sighting in.

Only marginally so at any significant range for the round you're using (>100m for 5.56, >200m for 7.62). The bullet is going to impact the plate at at a downward angle anyways, making it tend to bounce downwards into dirt. At ranges closer than that, you probably don't want to be shooting at hard targets because the rounds can bounce off the target, bounce off the ground, and still have enough residual energy to be dangerous.

Updated pic was on my old phone which is at the bottom of the Horicon Marsh, anyways I tore down the white shed, cleaned up a 30ft wide section of the weeds, added a 6ft burm the length of the clearing and put up treated boards to hang targets off of. Can do 100yrds straight on and 500-600yrds if we angle from the field. Now i just needa shot timer.
