Not exactly, but they must be within eyesight and 250 yards of whoever is loaning them the firearm, less or even completely illegal depending on the state, county, or city.

It should be considered admission of guilt, but not in and of itself illegal. Considering the statute of limitations they would be safe if they used the past tense and never specified a time frame for these events.

I was a black kid, going to a public school, in Atlanta.

Trust me, "School shooter" was the last thing on their mind. They were too worried about the gang members, drug dealers, and ACTUAL gun-toters in the school to worry about some nerd in the engineering club because he wrote a poem.
