What does /k/ think of 6.5 Grendel?
I liked Beowulf better, but both stories are good reads imo.

It's got a cool name.
>>33436378
Its stupid, its a 6mm PPC necked up to 6.5 to give it long range so you end up with a compromise round that tried to be good at the 1000 yard shooting that the 6.5 Creedmoor shines at.
6mm PPC holds all accuracy records out to 300 yards, it is the defacto benchrest round. It would be a perfect assault rifle round because of its low recoil. It has great velocity and trajectory. The Grendel just cucks it by not being good at either short or long range.
>>33436378
Just get an AR-10 faggot.
>>33437348
This anon gets it
>>33436378
I like mine, but sometimes the feeding can be unreliable. The cost of the gun was way more than its worth though.
>>33436378
It's OK, but the design compromises needed to fit it into an AR15 magwell limit its potential.
What we really need is a new midsize assault rifle built around the 7×46mm UIAC or equivalent.
>>33436378
steel case 6.5 is cheaper than 9mm, so it's a great plinking option if you're a poorfag

Proofs
>>33436378
Can't beat an AR15 in .223 in terms of capacity, can't beat the AR10s in 6.5 CM or .243 in terms of performance. It occupies a weird middle ground that doesn't really appeal to anyone.
That being said, the 6x45 has potential, but no one seems to make factory ammo for it.

>AR10s in 6.5 CM
65mm ar10 i want one of those
>>33437348
>compromise round
>it is an intermediate round and inherently a compromise
>>33443250
God damn this. What do you fags expect from a cartridge designed to be small?
>>33440775
What's wrong with 6.8? Same capacity, roughly same price when production is ramped up. Greater power.
.50 Beowulf is where it's at
>>33437348
>The Grendel just cucks it by not being AS good at either short or long range.
ftfy
But hey ignore the 6.5 bullet variety(with humans/game in mind),barrel life and not having to step up to an AR10.
>>33438510
That's the problem with every new round. The goddamn magwell restriction. That and bolt strength.
If only the Vz.52 had been enough of a success for the 7.62x45 to catch on. Everyone talks about the .280 brit and .276 Pedersen of the 7.62x45 oal and use as a parent case would have been glorious
>>33437348
It's great because it fits a standard AR15 platform, can be made from 7.62x39 brass, has cheap ammo available, and can match or exceed the power of 7.62x39 while having a better ballistic coefficient and trajectory than 308
there's a reason the CT and LSAT programs have switched to a similar 6.5 cartridge for development

Ammoseek and gunbot both have wolf in the 22-25cpr range
>>33440775
Yeah still a reloads cartridge. At least sharps finally legitimized 25-45. I'm watching .277 wolverine with some interest as a potential hog round.
>>33443306
Bad timing, Remington dropping the ball with the ACR and bullet oal with the mag length restriction making them less than stellar at range.
Fantastic parent case though.

>tfw no one actually goes for 90 grain 6.5x45

I dream of having a 6.5 CT rifle...
some day...
