I'm generally opposed to hazing, but the military is one of the only exceptions. If you can't handle hazing, how the fuck are you going to handle actual combat? Hazing toughens you both physically and mentally, and helps you become accustomed to high stress, painful situations. This can be valuable when shit actually hits the fan, and you find yourself under fire.

Some people fail to note the difference between hazing and ceremony. Hazing is getting a sock party at 2AM because you can't clean a toilet properly or answer a question. Ceremony is celebrating your achievements and following age old traditions.
