Why does Hollywood insist on having every character spin in a fight?
Has spinning ever been a successful in a streetfight, actual combat, gun fight, competition fight, etc? What utility is there to spinning like a top when it completely ruins your ability to focus on a given target, whether that be with your gun or your fist? Seems like a great way to get punched or shot in the back of your head.

Because spinning is a good trick
>>33423980
i have successfully dodged a punch by spinning when the guy threw his weight at me
It looks cool.
>>33424009
You'd have done the same by simply moving to one side and turning 45 degrees. Spinning is just the result of you sperging mid-fight.
>>33423980
Because it's thematic you spergy fuck. It's almost like movies aren't reality.
Spinning might work in very specific situations (not sure what), but it's pretty dumb to expose your back. You'll end up getting your spine severed or your kidneys thrusted in a sword duel.

Same reason skeletons can hiss at people even though they have no means to do so.

for this you want to watch professional sports anon and watch when and why they spin. There are people who can spin while sprinting faster than you can fart. Not saying you should fight like taz the Tasmanian devil tho
>>33424199
The same can be said about gouging and disemboweling a man in self defense instead of punching him out; it's frowned upon too, but it works

just for fun

Back to /tv/.
Other than getting some build up/momentum, which I can't think of being much use in an actual fight, isn't the golden rule to most fighting to cut down on unnecessary movements?
>>33424315
I suppost that COULD be precisely why one might have to "spin" if you swing something heavy or even a haymaker and miss at close range it could be better to just keep turning and end up facing them sooner, or even with less turning if they were moving

>has spinning ever been successful
Yes

Okay, that's pretty sick
It works for Taz.

Worked well for Abu Hajaar and co before one of them decided to stand up and get shot uo by Kurds

180 spinning back fast to baboon brains seems to work well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyNh2tqVWm4

How do people become aroused by this this and why is it all so terribly drawn?
Does that woman have a janitor's sink that she bathes in?
How is she even alive, her heart should have collapsed from over-exertion trying to circulate blood
>>33423980
Because you need to spin for the win!

Yes.
Greatswords were often used by bodyguards back in the day and they would do this spinning pattern. It would be kind of like suppressive fire. You could try to attack, but it's a big risk walking into the line of fire. The guy's eventually going to get tired (run out of ammo), but that may be enough time for backup to come.

Shhh, do not try to make sense of fetishes. They never make any sense, ever.

Seems to work just fine for these guys.

Where's the clip of the guy pretending to be Spetznaz and spinning with an AK in the crook of his arm?

That's radical, bro.

I'm sure there have been some instances where it's helped out, but it's pretty situational and it's probably gonna get you killed if you do it at the wrong time.
>>33423980
>This faggot doesn't even「Spin」
>>33424295
>first fight, guy puts his hand down just before the kick connects
Why? He had to know what was coming, and he wasn't readying another hit.

Everyone ignores the ample evidence that spinning generates enormous power and confuses your opponent, or could hide your direction of attack.
>but i watched a skallagrim video that said spinning is nonsense or whutevur.
>>33428724
Nobody's ignoring anything, you illiterate retard. It's situational. That's pretty much the gist of what every single person in here has said.
>>33425021
As much as this seems like button mashing IRL, it does exemplify the value of spinning backfists/elbows. If you look at where their feet are, he's put himself in a shit position and his opponent would have an angle on him if he knew what he was doing, unless... another backfist!

Dark Souls.
>>33423980
Rotational mass, more force at the end of the hit, but you have to execute it properly, or else you wont have enought power because friction made you lose momentum.
If someone spins in a streetfight 98% sure is instinct taking over.

My impregnation fetish makes sense.

>My impregnation fetish makes sense.
Mine doesn't. I only developed it when I found out from the doctors I was sterile.
Must be some sort of 'grass is greener' thing going on in my subconscious.
There's one time spinning makes sense, when you are cut off and need to pass them. Fake and spin in the opposite direction.
