Century is selling vz2008s again, folders with tacticool furniture only. Supposedly lot more us made parts (green Mountain supposedly makes the barrels).

They are going for around $750

Local gun shop has one for $600

Right now I can choose between the Vz58 or the SLR 107-11. Which should I get? Does the Vz58 have anything over the SLR, and vice versa?

THEY ARE NOT THE SAME RIFLE AND NEVER WAS NOR WILL BE. Thats like calling a pipe gun a Sten. It may LOOK barely close to each other when you squint your eyes, but they are not the same gun externaly, internally, nor do they have the same action.

And when talking about firearms, the action is what determines what guns are varients of each other. Like the AR15 and the AR10. Those are relatively the same. But not really.

So I want to buy one of these, but I live in cook county and any mags over 10 round are banned (only for sale I think). If I have one of these shipped to an FFL the next county over and bring it back, would that be legal? I don't want to get my pupper punished.

AKs are cheap to make in Eastern Bloc countries because the ISSUE subsidized all the manufacturing equipment and people worked for what would be considered slave wage in the West. Add into that the fact that the US has produced tens of millions of ARs and it is easy to see where the price gap comes from.
Stamping steels isn't necessarily cheaper than extruding aluminum.

Look on gunbroker for vz2008. Any real vz58 will cost you a lot more than 600-700.
I have a real vz58, but convinced a buddy to get a vz2008 while the getting was good. He still thanks me for that. $400 for the gun & 5 mags was an absolute steal. IMO, you're an idiot if you like 762x39 and knowingly didn't get one at the time.
